    Amazing - Informative - Fun

by Tom1 on 12/22/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

The staff treated us like royalty and we were just on their 1 hour tour. We visited every floor of this historic building including places never seen by regular, ticket-paying patrons. Take the tour before a show and you will really appreciate the uniqueness of this American landmark. And, honestly, the customer service is first-class.

    Great tour guide!

by Angienwh on 12/21/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

Our tour guide made the tour (I apologize I can’t remember her name- younger and very enthusiastic)! She shared so much with us in such a short time. I loved seeing the costumes, the old posters, meeting a rocket and the screening/lighting room. I think it helped having seen the show before (a few years ago) but it was also great seeing it later that day after learning more about the history.

    Fell short

by cw21dealer on 12/20/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

While there were interesting aspects to this tour, I felt the advertisement for it was somewhat misleading. The promo leaves you will the impression that you will be on the actual stage, in the actual empty theatre. Not true. You see a small scaled mock-up of the stage with a brief description of the stage hydraulics. I understand with so many daily shows it’s obviously difficult to take a tour on the actual stage (in fact our tour guide told us that had only happened once in all her time directing tours), but the tour description is misleading. One Rockette comes out and answers any questions you might have (there is an opportunity for photos with her against a “Rockettes” marquee). The ‘costume room’ you see is about four outfits hanging on a single rack in the same room where the photo op is provided. If you know no history of RCMH, they cover its evolution pretty deeply from its early days as a movie house. OK, but I was expecting more.

    Fascinating

Fascinating tour, but would have enjoyed seeing things we’ve been shown on past tours, such as the projector room.

    Not worth it

by Guest on 11/22/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

Very unorganized. This tour didn't include much, just walking down hallways and looking at photos on walls. It was not worth even a quarter of the cost.

    Well worth the tour

by C2 on 11/21/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

A friend suggested to take the Stage Door tour. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about Radio City, the history and the renovation in 1999. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and believe if you visit NYC to put this on your list of “To Do”.

Great guide, average tour - left disappointed

by Chloe on 11/12/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

To begin, our tour guide was fantastic. Very knowledgable and enthusiastic. However, we expected more from the tour. We were hoping to see backstage, go inside the auditorium, and perhaps even see a glimpse of the rehearsals for the Christmas spectacular. Sadly much of the tour was through the winding corridors of the theatre, as well as 10 minutes watching a video. Most disappointingly, the tour description said “complete your tour by meeting a Radio City Rockette”, which we did not get to do. I understand the reason for our limited tour was due to rehearsals for the Christmas spectacular, but this was not explained on booking.

    Interesting Tour

by Eileen19 on 9/5/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

The tour was really interesting. There were no shows today, so we got to go on stage, which was really cool. I also enjoyed meeting a Rockette. I would just say that our guide was pleasant but seemed to believe that what she was saying would seem boring to us, and I think as a result, it made it harder to engage. I would also have liked to hear more about what it's like to put on a show, in addition to hearing about the structure of the building. Also, note that they do in fact allow guests to bring in bottled water.

Informative, interesting but a little disappointing

    by Rob W on 8/18/23

Overall a great informative tour of an iconic location in NYC. Tour guide was super knowledgeable and engaging and the building interior was beautiful. Meeting a Rockette and understanding the history of the troope was fascinating and put into perspective what really goes into the Holiday shows every year. Unfortunately, the tour suggests that you get to tour the stage and auditorium which I guess would be the case if there wasn’t anything else happening. However, we found out after about 10 minutes that we would not be visiting either and instead could see the stage and auditorium via a small viewing window in the gallery. With 30 people on the 1 tour, trying to cram us all in to a 10’x10’ room with 1 window overlooking the stage was tricky and obviously meant not everyone could see without lagging behind. Be prepared for lots of stairs. Overall good value, but without the full stage tour was a little underwhelming.

Good or great tour depending on the day

    by sl on 7/31/23

The tour guide we had was very knowledgeable and informative. She did a great job of telling the history of this grand music hall - and it is grand! If you've never seen it, it is very impressive. So glad it was saved from the wrecking ball! And the Rockette we met was very nice. The only negative was there was a show scheduled for that night, and there were a few times when our guide had to fight the sound check that was going on. Also, we were not able to be on the stage or see the mechanical room that controls the stage. That wasn't a huge deal. But if you can, pick a day when there isn't a show scheduled for that night. I believe you get an even better experience on those days.

    Excellent back stage tour

by Dee dee on 6/11/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

Our leader was amazing, Name started with an M. She was interesting, VERY knowledgable, fun, thorough and accommodating. Keep her. The stour itself was beyond expectations as we viewed the theater, stood on the stage and came to understand how technologically advanced this theater always was and STILL is. It's a "Must See" for me and my family.

    Glorious

by SFTommy1 on 5/4/23Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour - New York

Amazing journey into this magnificent theater's past and present. Gorgeous Art Deco design with details everywhere. Knowledgeable guide shared the historic significance of the theater from the artistic and technical aspects. And we had the opportunity to meet, chat with and have a photo op with an actual Rockette!
