About

NEEDTOBREATHE have spent over two decades developing a unique sound that blends elements of rock, country and Christian music. The South Carolina band was formed in 1998 by brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart. They expanded the outfit into a quartet and released a string of independent projects before debuting their first major label effort, Daylight, in 2006. NEEDTOBREATHE’s sophomore album The Heat (2007) marked the group’s first placement on the Billboard 200 and earned the group their first No. 1 on the Christian Airplay chart with the single, “Washed by the Water.” Their 2009 follow-up The Outsiders elevated the band, reaching gold certification from the RIAA, while 2011’s The Reckoning marked more crossover success after notching their first No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart. With 2014’s Rivers in the Wasteland, NEEDTOBREATHE broke into the Hot 100 thanks to the Gavin DeGraw collaborative song “Brother.” The single “Multiplied” led to the band’s first Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. NEEDTOBREATHE reached a career peak at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 2016’s Hard Love. In 2020, the group announced the departure of Bo Rinehart and have since released three studio albums as a quintet with Bear, Seth Bolt, Josh Lovelace, Randall Harris and Tyler Burkum.

    Full Rock Extravaganza

by Chad on 11/13/23The Anthem - Washington

NEEDTOBREATHE has officially made the leap into full on rock stars, and that is not a bad thing. The music and musicianship has always been there. Now the stage show and production have grown to match. Incredible visuals, top-grade lighting, excellent sound system, and a fair amount of choreographed experiences during the show. Worth seeing anytime and every time they are in town.

    Great show

by Nemo on 11/13/23The Anthem - Washington

NeedToBreathe was excellent but the venue was oversold and crowded. Not bad as the Fillmore in Silver Spring. I felt bad for short people that couldn’t see anything since it was so packed.

    Visuals Over-the-Top

by Bill on 11/13/23The Anthem - Washington

The four of us have seen N2B multiple times as they are one of our favorite bands. We all felt like the visuals were way too much and actually detracted from the band and their amazing music. We love their music. We didn’t expect to watch movies on the Caves tour! Give us back just the music!

Not my favorite live show from them

by Harry on 11/13/23The Anthem - Washington

I love these guys (fourth time seeing them live) but I have to say this was my least favorite. They only played a handful of songs off the new album and played a lot of slower songs. Would’ve hoped it’d be more of the high energy songs.

    Best Band Ever

by Amanda on 11/12/23Armory - Minneapolis

VIP experience was very neat but the Armory could have had a better set up for the Q&A - mics didn’t work well and the space was too cramped. Couldn’t even see the whole band. The wait once VIP experience ended and the concert began was also too long. 1 hr 40 min that we were just standing there. Once the music was playing, amazing concert!!! It was more venue centered issues.

    Best Band Ever

by Darla on 11/11/23UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

I have seen NTB 5 times! I would see them 100 more! They just get better! They engage the crowd from the moment they hit the stage. The beautiful background screen is a show by itself. Bear’s voice and the emotion he sings with gets stronger as the show goes on. I love the music, the lyrics and the joy seeing them live brings to every fan that has been blessed by their talents!

    Best concert I've been to

by Joey D on 11/11/23UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

I've been going to concerts for over 20 years and I've seen Needtobreathe 3 times, this was by far the best show I've attended. The arena was the perfect size where there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The energy and interaction with the crowd was AWESOME! I am considering taking my family to another show in another state to watch it again. It amazes me how these guys are not one of the biggest names in the industry.

    An amazing night

by Darryl on 11/11/23UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

The tour with needtobreathe and Judah and the lion was an amazing night. The venue, UPMC at Robert Morris was a really great venue not a bad scene, good size of a small to a middle range venue. You could get intimate with the artist and still feel all the feels. It was a seamless walk-through with security with ticketing everything and then, even with Merch, it was a great experience. The artist put on incredible Epic show I loved every moment of listening to them. I wish I could go to their entire tour. Well done!!! Loved it

1 of America’s Greatest Live Bands

by JD on 11/11/23UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Stellar weeknight performance to a large (not sold out) and very enthusiastic Pittsburgh crowd at Robert Morris University’s basketball arena. As Bear Rinehart mentioned, NEEDTOBREATHE will always “bring it harder” than the audience participation they receive. Well, the UPMC arena crowd was knowledgeable and were ready with a consistently intense response throughout the show. And, yeah, NEEDTOBREATHE backed up Bear’s early show claim. Highlights (for me) were (1) the EXTENDED jam on Wasting Time, (2) The Outsiders, (3) Dreams w/Judah and the Lion, and (4) the acoustic tunes… Everknown, Banks, and West Texas Wind mid set, then Washed By the Water, which closed the encore. BRAVO!
