About

GLEN HANSARD IN CONCERT:

Singer-songwriter Glen Hansard has dabbled in many musical projects throughout his career, but he's finally stepping out on his own as a solo artist for a slew of 2014 tour dates. Since his early days as the lead singer of The Frames, Hansard has become a major influence in the Dublin rock scene with his impeccable songwriting and folk spirit. In performance, the Irishman delights audiences with his calm demeanor, gritty vocal style, and beat-up Takamine acoustic guitar, which he's dubbed "The Horse."  Whether he's covering a Bob Marley tune or passionately singing his hit "Falling Slowly," Glen Hansard's compelling performances will have fans on the edge of their seat at his 2014 shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

At 13, Glen Hansard left school to devote time to busking on the streets of Dublin and eventually earned his salt in 1990 when he formed the Frames, gaining a cult following with a string of critically acclaimed albums. Sixteen years later he formed The Swell Season with Czech singer Marketa Irglova, earning widespread success with  romantic ballad "Falling Slowly." He's also had an illustrious career as an actor, playing the role of a musician in the films Once and The Commitments, but has always returned to his first love: music. Glen Hansard graces the stage once more to share his passion for performance on his 2014 tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Glen Hansard is an incredibly talented musician.  I've never seen a performer so interactive, sincere, funny, and passionate as Glen."

"This was hands down the best show I"ve ever been to! He was amazing!!!"

"This was my first time seeing Glen and will definitely not be my last. Glen left it all on the stage; he held us spellbound!"

    Great show!

by Ryan on 3/21/22The Anthem - Washington

Getting into the venue was painless. Plenty of staff to help you locate your seat, which would have been tricky without them. Sound was great, everything looked nice. Venue is in a great location. I had a great time!

    Fantastic

by Belinda on 3/21/22The Anthem - Washington

This is my third time seeing Glen Hansard and again, he was amazing. Marketa voice sounds like an angel and when Mercy joined the stage to sing, it was like more angels were signing. Not only is his music beautiful, he has a way of making the audience feel welcomed. The Anthem venue was beautiful and the acoustics were great. It was a memorable night.

    Mesmerizing Experience!

by Randy Shell on 3/21/22The Anthem - Washington

This was my first Markéta Irglova and Glen Hansard Concert and my first trip to the Anthem as well and I'm hoping it won't be my last! The concert was excellent and I could not have asked for a better experience! The music along with the audio and lighting system was mesmerizing. I do have a couple of recommendations however. 1. I left my seat to get a drink when the concert started. I don't remember if the lighting at my seat had dimmed or not, but it being my first visit to the venue, I had forgotten that I needed to step down to get to my seat which resulted in me falling awkwardly as I approached my seat. Perhaps a change in lighting would be beneficial. 2. I didn't realize that recording songs with my phone was not allowed until I was reminded by an usher. Perhaps the ushers can remind everyone of this fact as they assist folks to their seat. But again, the overall experience was excellent and I hope to be back soon!

Glen never disappoints. The set list was a ”swell” of nostalga and what is to come. I cherished getting to see them both together again. Beautiful. Slante!

    Incredible!

    by run.dana.run on 3/21/22The Anthem - Washington

I saw The Swell Season back in 2008 after Once came out. Glen and Marketa were great back then, and I’ve seen Glen live a couple of times since then. He’s always amazing. Seeing them together again was a special treat - they are even better together than they were. Marketa’s voice has become a thing of beauty!

    Wonderful as always

by Markus F. on 10/3/21The Fillmore - San Francisco

We greatly loved this concert. Glen Hansard performed by himself, but it’s like there’s a band on stage. He’s wonderfully personal and present in his performances.

    Amazing Concert!

by DLS on 9/30/21The Regent Theater - Los Angeles

Hard to describe just how incredible this show was. There's been something special about every concert after the shutdowns. An extra awareness from the fans and artists about how special the show is. This show blew the rest out of the water. I have been to a lot of Glen Hansard concerts and this was something else. You could feel the joy of playing again washing off the stage and onto the crowd. The intimate venue only added to the feeling. I wish I could go back again and again.

    Satisfy my soul!

by Two Tea Sally on 9/30/21The Regent Theater - Los Angeles

The line getting in the Regent theater was pretty long. The show started at 7 but the line didn’t start moving until 7:30. That could be because of Covid protocol. The opening act was good. Glen Hansard began at 9:00 and he was amazing. It was the first concert we had attended in over 2 years and it was emotional for me to hear live music again. Glen was the man for the job. I can’t understate what a great performer he is. You really feel his emotions in every song he sings. The only complaint I have is that it was very long. We arrived at 7:00 and left at 11:30. I’m relatively healthy but that was a long time to stand on concrete. He had a couple of people join him on stage. I could of done without that. If they had sung his songs with him or he had edited out some of the less known songs it would of been a perfect night. Loved it!!!

I have not seen Glen Hansard in concert before and I am so glad I made the effort. He is an amazing storyteller and has an honesty and grit that are rare finds today. Super energetic and yet also soulful. The band was amazing, too - every. one. of. them.

    All over the place

by Loolie Lang on 9/28/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

As a long time fan I had no idea where we were going. One good song followed by insanity and confusion. Wasn’t for me.
