    Moving forward because she can

by charles on 4/2/24The Fillmore - San Francisco

Instead of playing greatest hits like a lot of older rock stars, Kim decided to do new great work and plays nothing from Sonic Youth. She could. She shows in her new work that compared to her fellows in that band she was the heart and soul and the creative force, or at least she continues to have hard rocking creative juice. I have seen two of the other guitarists from SY solo and she blows them away, with her great new band also that she leads, it seems, although without her they would be playing smaller gigs, perhaps undeserved. Her new album is similar and she continues to try to forge new ground, like body/head.

    Sonic explorations into modern noise

by jolo on 4/2/24The Fillmore - San Francisco

Really enjoyed seeing Kim Gordon, her new record is unique and daring. I wondered how the beats would translate live, and can verify that her back-up band is first rate. The drummer did a great job. Really fun set, worth catching.

    Thankful

by SmellyMob on 3/18/229:30 CLUB - Washington

I’m amazed Kim Gordon put together a tour in all of this. Last thing I expected. Glad I got to see this because I missed the boat on Sonic Youth. I am glad I purchased their archive on Bandcamp. I read Kim’s book “Girl In The Band”, pick it up if you haven’t read it. 9:30 was my favorite club well before it was clean. It remains my favorite, they’ve only gotten better and the room sounds amazing.

    I partially enjoyed the concert

by Gitrinec on 3/18/229:30 CLUB - Washington

The concert was supposed to start at 7pm but was closer to 9pm. Im not sure who the guy was that kind of opened for her and exactly what instrument he was playing but it sounded awful, he just repeated the same sound over and over for sbout half an hour. Then it was sort of an intermission. The beginning of her concert seemed a little off, she had lyric sheets and was kind of quiet to start, it could of been just new music I suppose. To me the last 3 or 4 songs she sang mostly during her encore were really good. Maybe Im just reminiscing about the days of Sonic Youth.

    Rock goddess

An honor to be in her presence. If I’m still rocking like Kim is at 68, I’ll consider myself lucky. That encore!

    Paradise Rock Club, Boston

    by PB. on 3/18/22

Great show, sparsely attended and only an hour long. Had hoped for more, but the band were tight and definitely recommend catching Kim on this tour💯

Great Show, Though Much Too Short

by Whiny McGee on 3/16/22Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - Boston

Show started more or less on time (probably 8:15pm) with Bill Nace as the opening act, who noodled around on a sonic contraption that looked like a souped-up laptop keytar. The approximately 45 minute set was comprised of two "songs", and it was hard to tell if it was an avant-garde sound experiment or if people backstage were making fun of the audience for taking it seriously. Kim Gordon and her band were amazing - hearing them perform live was a real treat, and the visuals projected behind them really enhanced the experience. Though she didn't play guitar for the first three songs (or so), KG did eventually do so and was met with cheers and applause. The only bummer is that they only played for about an hour or so when I think the audience would have welcomed at least another 30 minutes of music. Still, a great night and a must-see if they play in your area.
