About

Elton John in Concert

Sir Elton Hercules John, English singer, songwriter and pianist, has been a fixture of the soft rock and pop music scene since the early 1960s and toured the globe extensively in his decades-long career. John's 2016-2018 Wonderful Crazy Night Tour has taken him throughout North America, the Middle East and Europe, as did his 2012-2013 Rocket Man 40th Anniversary Tour and 2011-2012 Greatest Hits Tour. John's musical style is marked by his flashy piano work and distinctive lead vocals. He is best known for his easy-listening rock and pop tunes, though, he is equally accomplished at creating works for films and the stage. His live shows combine his expert musicianship with flamboyant costumes and infectious energy, creating an atmosphere that enthralls audiences worldwide. Elton John's musical prowess has earned him numerous accolades. He managed to have a charting Top 40 hit every year from 1970 to 1996 and has crafted timeless melodies like "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer," "Crocodile Rock," and "Bennie & The Jets." He's been nominated for nearly 30 Grammy Awards, and won eight, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and a Hall of Fame award.

Elton John Background

Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, in Pinner, England, John was introduced to music at an early age. He started playing piano at age four, and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at age 11. After leaving the Academy in 1961, he made the decision to pursue a career in music and joined his first band, Bluesology. John met his longtime writing partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, in the mid-1960s, and since then has collaborated with him on more than 30 albums. Classic albums like his self-titled Elton John and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player are considered masterpieces to many a rock fan, and works like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road catapulted John to his legendary status. Though John is an icon in the field of music, his worldly influence stretches beyond songwriting and performing. In 1992, he established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, with the express purpose of supporting HIV prevention, education and care for those living with the disease.

    Chase Elton John Concert

by Pamz on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Easy peasy! Got into the venue in a very short period of time. Fellow fans were cooperative and having fun. My only complaint in the lack of lighting on the stairs (pretty treacherous)

    BEST.CONCERT.EVER!

by VickiLH on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John was engaging, funny, and so cute! His playing was spot on and he just reminded both my husband and me of a cuddly teddy bear. I wish him so much happiness. He deserves it.

The man still has it and is very gracious to his fans. What a great night my wife and I had seeing Elton John in San Diego. Thank you, Elton!

    Not the usual standard

by Trudy on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Sound was terrible! when Elton was talking there was an echo and it was hard to understand what he was saying, same when band was playing sounded terrible, not sure if sound engineer problem or Chase Field is just not a good place for concerts?? I have been to over 12 Elton concerts and this was the worst, although you could not fault Elton's singing and playing he seemed like he was on auto pilot just wanting to do his playlist and go home. He did not get the audience going like he usually does either he must be tired this is a pretty grueling tour. Very disappointing!

    AMAZING

by Bella on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I'm SO glad that I bought this ticket. The show was amazing and the security to get in (Chase Field, PHX) was painless. While I'm sorry to see him go, the man is edging up on 76 (in March) and SHOULD enjoy life with is husband and 2 sons! SO blessed to have seen you and your AMAZING band!!!

    Elton the Legend lives on

by Tschap on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John was terrific. The song selections covered the classic hits and others. He harvested the energy of the crowd and played 2 and a half hours with a short pause for the encore. An amazing Farewell performance. The venue was terrible. Chase Field should not host concerts. Not enough screens, audio was marginal and the concessions/ souvenir stands a mess.

    Elton fan forever

by Moxie on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

The concert was the best ever! The band gave it everything they had, playing for a solid 2 1/2 hours without a break. Elton sounded great and his piano playing was outstanding. So many great moments but the peak for me was his rendition of an old favorite, "Rocket Man" which was unbelievable! Had me on my feet as he played on and on, rifting on the piano. The ending of the night brought people to tears as he thanked his fans for their endless devotion, told us what a great run he had, and belted out his finale of Good-bye Yellow Brick Road. He then proceeded to turn and walk onto the yellow brick road and disappear into his album cover background.

    Awesome show

Elton was amazing. Traffic control was awful! Hours to get in. Hours to get out.

    Worst seats ever

by Anne on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Best show, but worst seats ever!!! Back is still out of whack...seats were incredibly narrow, extremely uncomfortable to sit in for 2.5 hours. For that price there should be a cushion.

    Captain Fantastic, the Quintessential Showman

by Sedonacat on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I've seen EJ many times, mostly at his favorite venue: MSG in NYC since 1981. He never disappoints, all his music is great. The screens were exceptional in illustrating his long fable history especially during 'I'm Still Standing'. The big finale of 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' was emotional, at the end he rose up and ascended the stage to disappear into the screened image of Farewell Yellow Brick Road.

    GoodBye Yellow Brick Road

by Pip on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton was, of course, fantastic!!! What a great show! And the encores! How sad to think it's the last time to see him. I'm sure the rest of his life with family will be terrific! Parking was a nightmare!! We had a reserved spot, thank goodness. Trying to get to the garage was awful. We left home 3 hrs ahead of time and were still 40 min late because we had to keep circling around trying to get to the lot. I'm glad Elton was late starting. Will Never Attend another event here! Because of the parking!

    Elton John - Chase Field

by GraceV on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John was incredible. The Chase Field entrance experience was awful! Floor ticket holders were put in a queue, to go in 1 gate only. The line snaked completely around 2 sides of the venue! I was on line over an hour. There were no ropes to separate us from the crowd. Hundreds of people cut in front of those of us who were in line. The reason for the backup? Wrist bands. There were 6-8 people at 2 tables, tearing each wrist band individually off the strip of bands. The tables were totally understaffed and overwhelmed. This process is archaic. It could so easily be improved. I missed my favorite EJ song, as he sang it first. Local news reported people missed 1 hour+ of the show. What a mess. Elton deserves 10 stars. Chase Field -10.

    by C. R. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I loved Elton John and this was the 2nd time seeing him. He never disappoints in his performance. I did not like the Venue and probably would not choose a concert there again.

    AMAZING PERFORMER

    by D. S. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton was everything and more! Songs aren't played like the album...but they're not supposed to be! Its a show, he's a showman, and much like Sammy Haggar in his mid 70's, Elton brings it! Bucket list show and it did not disappoint! See him before he's done!!!

Horrible venue for an amazing entertainer

by Shredder on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

This was the worst concert experience I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, Elton is a legend and he did his part. But Chase Field has the WORST ACOUSTICS ever. I am not even picky about these things but half the time I couldn't tell what song was being played! And the parking situation? No one to direct traffic - we kept driving and following others only to find every parking lot full. We left our house 2.5 hours before the concert. It was a disaster. Then we finally found super expensive parking and it took us over an HOUR to get out of the garage. People were honking frantically. I guess their ticket thing wasn't working. In a case like that, just let us out. I will never go to another concert at Chase Field again. It is for baseball only.

    Get there super early

by Will J on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

From the start we had issues they pushed all the floor members to one gate. The showed started right at 8 I wasn't able to get in until 8:30pm even though I got there an hour early. It was poorly planned. The concert it's self was good not great. You could barely hear Elton the mic seemed to be turned down lower than that of the band. It was worth seeing him on the farewell tour just get there extremely early. It was a lot of fun the venue it's self (Chase Field) deserves zero stars people will take your seats and refuse to move. While "security" will have you look for other seats than that you paid for.
