About

Elton John in Concert

Sir Elton Hercules John, English singer, songwriter and pianist, has been a fixture of the soft rock and pop music scene since the early 1960s and toured the globe extensively in his decades-long career. John's 2016-2018 Wonderful Crazy Night Tour has taken him throughout North America, the Middle East and Europe, as did his 2012-2013 Rocket Man 40th Anniversary Tour and 2011-2012 Greatest Hits Tour. John's musical style is marked by his flashy piano work and distinctive lead vocals. He is best known for his easy-listening rock and pop tunes, though, he is equally accomplished at creating works for films and the stage. His live shows combine his expert musicianship with flamboyant costumes and infectious energy, creating an atmosphere that enthralls audiences worldwide. Elton John's musical prowess has earned him numerous accolades. He managed to have a charting Top 40 hit every year from 1970 to 1996 and has crafted timeless melodies like "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer," "Crocodile Rock," and "Bennie & The Jets." He's been nominated for nearly 30 Grammy Awards, and won eight, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and a Hall of Fame award.

Elton John Background

Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, in Pinner, England, John was introduced to music at an early age. He started playing piano at age four, and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at age 11. After leaving the Academy in 1961, he made the decision to pursue a career in music and joined his first band, Bluesology. John met his longtime writing partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, in the mid-1960s, and since then has collaborated with him on more than 30 albums. Classic albums like his self-titled Elton John and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player are considered masterpieces to many a rock fan, and works like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road catapulted John to his legendary status. Though John is an icon in the field of music, his worldly influence stretches beyond songwriting and performing. In 1992, he established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, with the express purpose of supporting HIV prevention, education and care for those living with the disease.

    Elton John 2022

    by Mochief⚡️ on 11/16/22Nissan Stadium - Nashville

This was the best concert I’ve ever attended in my life… It was phenomenal. He put every bit of his (75 year old) energy into this show and it yielded an extraordinary, unforgettable performance that will forever be etched in my heart and mine.

    GREAT CONCERT

by VEE on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Concert was great! So lucky to have been able to see his farewell tour. Saw him 20 years ago and it was a great concert then and he still performed top notch.

    Great Night with EJ

by AnaMarie on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

From start to finish the concert was great. Loved watching EJ perform and engage with everyone. The stadium was full and no one left early. So glad we went.

    He was phenomenal

by cubswin on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton still brings it. Glasses, outfits and all! He truly is one of the most skilled musicians this planet has ever seen. Piano and voice. "Goodbye Norma Jean" is a masterpiece. Hearing him play and sing this was OMG so good.

No Sad Songs at Elton’s Show

by Island Boy on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Had a great time at the Elton John show at Chase Field in Phoenix on Saturday night (Nov. 12). Parking near stadium was reasonably priced (my opinion). Entry into the ballpark was easy (friendly staff). Despite sitting in the upper deck, the large video screens made for a good show. Elton’s voice was strong, the band sounded great and I can say I got to see a legend (first Elton show for me). The video show (lightning storm) leading into Funeral For A Friend was awesome. Glad we made the decision to get tickets.

    Performance great, venue fails everyone

    by m. t. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John rocked it, no complaints!! Venue needs remodeled or not used for concerts. Everyone is on top of each other -knocking knees, drinks spill. Body heat. Way too tight Seats are toooooooooo close! Just to clap you have to keep your elbows tight against your own body. Everyone stood just to move around to circulate air which actually blocks views. We looked at butts more than the stage. Paid alot of money to not see! Sitting should be enforced or at minimum encouraged.

    Rocket Man No More

    by N. C. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

A great night with one great entertainer for the past 52 years. I took a female friend who never had seen him live in concert and she found the performance absolutely amazing. Once again I was lucky to catch this last concert from Captain Fantastic and he came through with one terrific farewell to all his faithful fans. This was my fifth time seeing EJ and once again I enjoyed myself. Farewell EJ and good luck in your life with family in the years to come.

by Jjmrock on 11/15/22Petco Park - San Diego

Elton John and his band was amazing. A concert not to miss. My 3 star review is for the seats. Floor seats but could not see the stage. High price to pay to see only the screens.

    Elton!!!

    by Chuckpunk85 on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Show was amazing and Elton played for nearly 2 and a half hours. Only bad thing was the amount of stairs. Many people going to this show were older and the amount of stairs in upper level to get to seats were difficult to navigate

    Elton is an unmatched icon!

by This concert was amazing! To think we won't be a ble to see him on tour ever again breaks my heart. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

The videos on the big screen were so moving and relevant to the songs being played. The tribute to Aretha was a tear jerker for sure. He played all my favorites and his voice was better than ever! One of my favorite concerts ever! ❤️❤️❤️

Everything you would hope to see and hear! EJ never disappoints. He will be incredibly missed but he has left us an amazing catalogue to play over and over again until we here the next collaboration. So thankful for all the years.

    Bucket List checked

by Uma on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

It was a memorable evening getting to be in the presence of such greatness. Granted, we didn't have the best seats for close up pictures, but we made do. If possible, Ticketmaster should create a specific photographing area that gets us nice shots, or get to pay extra for a photo session with Elton (or any artist for the matter) would be best.

    Once in a lifetime

by Le Le on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Terrific farewell show! Little issue with the crowd making it too our seats for the kick off "Bennie & the Jets" even though arrived early. Better arrangements of getting to floor seats that are pricey would be appreciated by event holder. Elton was awesome! How could he not be. Seats were super crammed though for the price

Elton was great- venue was not great

    by E. M. on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton put on an amazing show- sounded great and you could tell he and the band were having so much fun! Chase field venue- when we arrived, we used the restrooms that had no tp, soap or paper towels - this is PRE SHOW. Unacceptable. Drink options were extremely limited- just beer , coors light and modello at most stations… finally found cocktails and it was worse than a college frat party. He played the night before and it feels like no one re-stocked the venue. These tickets weren’t cheap- it will prevent me from going to another show at this venue in the future.

    Elton drowned out by band

by pb on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

We wanted to listen to Elton John sing his songs, but his voice was drowned out by his band. He did not sing enough of his more familiar songs, instead choosing to focus on songs lesser known to us. The extended versions of a couple of his songs were just that, overly extended. We were disappointed to say the least. The concert was more noise than music and we were not sure what the graphics/videos on the screens has to do with his music. Chase Field is capable of handling musical groups when the sound engineers match the volume of a concert to the capability of the venue. We did not come to the concert to listen to the band members try to show off - which was a turn off. We left early. I was sorry I forgot the ear plugs.
