About

Collective Soul rose to prominence in the mid-’90s with 1993’s Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. The album featured the hit single “Shine” and took Collective Soul from college radio to heavy rotation on MTV. By the end of 1995, the band (led by singer-songwriter Ed Roland) had toured with Aerosmith and Van Halen and performed “Shine” in front of thousands of fans at Woodstock ‘94. Their triple-platinum follow-up, Collective Soul (1995), included "December," "The World I Know" and "Where the River Flows," all No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Collective Soul would continue achieving career milestones well into the 2000s and 2010s, including a duet with Elton John (“Perfect Day”) and nine additional studio albums.

The thirty year tour did not disappoint.

by Rick on 1/22/24Legends Casino Event Center - Toppenish

It is hard to believe Collective Soul hit the rock and roll scene thirty years ago. Even though the members are older, they can still generate the sound that made them famous. Lead and rhythm guitarists, Jesse Triplett and Dean Roland didn’t miss a note. Drummer, Johnny Raab and Bass guitarist, Will Turpin were awesome. The heart of the band, Ed Rolland still has it. Even though he can’t hit some of the notes in his youth, his enthusiasm and showmanship makes up for the slight loss of range in his voice. The band is releasing a new double album in April 2024. They played a couple of songs from the new album. Same classic Collective Soul sound. Can’t wait to purchase. Overall, I really enjoyed the show. I had only one complaint , they played for only 1 3/4 hours. I could have listened to them much longer. For the first show on their thirty year tour, it was a great performance. They will only get better over the next year. Don’t think twice about purchasing tickets.

    Disappointing

by TJ on 1/21/24Legends Casino Event Center - Toppenish

Did not sound like their CDs. Much too loud, even with earplugs. Lead singer's voice was bad. The bright spot was the lead guitarist. He was good.

The 30th anniversary show was epic. Life changing you could even say. They highlighted the talent of each member in the band, all while captivating the audience. I LOVE Collective Soul. Brought me back to the 90’s

30 Years & No Slowing Down

    by Paul on 1/19/24

For starters, I had not seen Collective Soul before but have loved their music since I was a teenager. They played their first 30-year anniversary show last night in Toppenish, WA. We braved to very treacherous roads (snow/ice) to get there figuring they'd probably cancel at the last minute. They didn't and they rocked! Ed was engaging as a front man, they played most of the big hits. Only regret is that I wished they could have played longer than 1.5 hours and with an encore, but it was a great show all around. Will definitely be looking for them again next time they play in our state or nearby.

Band was GREAT, venue was meh

by PatriotGirl on 11/12/23Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast - Bay St. Louis

This was my first time seeing Collective Soul, which has been my favorite band for a few years now. I saw them at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The venue was quite small, more or less a very large conference room, all one level. It didn't matter where your seat was, if you didn't stand up, you couldn't see the band. They did have a monitor on each side of the stage, but you know, it's not the same. It doesn't really matter where I sit, I always end up down at the stage anyway, which is where I was for most of this concert. I could've touched the guitar player, it was awesome! The band was FANTASTIC, they played for 1.5 hours & played all my favorites plus a couple of their new songs. They played December, Gel, The World I Know, & Heavy, among others. Even played Fire from R.E.M. Had a great time seeing them. I think they should have adjusted the sound levels better for the venue, though... it was too loud for the small space & the sound often seemed distorted. I would def see the band again, wouldn't see anyone in that venue again, though.

    band great/ venue horrible

by Charles on 11/7/23Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast - Bay St. Louis

Collective Soul was great. Glad they added more songs besides only the "hits". seating was awful. could hardly see the band. Stage was not raised enough. The seats were cafeteria chairs . everyone was on the same level. I wanted to stand like the people in front of me. The people behind me were sitting and I did not want to be rude. I finally stood against a wall.

    So-So Experience

by Flip on 11/6/23Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast - Bay St. Louis

First of all, no issues with the band at all. Collective Soul always puts on a damn good show-we love their music. The mix seemed off a little, but I’m giving the mixer the benefit of the doubt, and saying it was probable acoustics in the ballroom? In my opinion the issues were mostly from a visual perspective of the show in general. The flashing lights in the audience got to be so annoying. I had to spend a lot of time looking away from the stage. I got an headache from that experience. I liken it to someone getting a “new toy”, and saying “let’s see what we can do with these”. They had two screens set up with video on either side of the stage and it looked like a 10 year old was just pushing buttons at random…very unprofessional. They would punch up shots that showed no band members…just random amps and other equipment on the stage. Huh, what was that about? Again, very unprofessional looking, and in my opinion, degraded the overall experience. I’m hoping that if we get to see the band again, say get rid of the people responsible for the video production and change the lighting guy to someone who has a deeper understanding of the subtleties of lighting. I’m honestly surprised no one had an epileptic seizure from the horrible light show. My message to Collective Soul, please hire some real professionals to do your production.. you guys definitely deserve that because you are an amazing collection of musicians!
