Chicago Sky History

The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team played their first season in 2006, then qualified for their first postseason in 2013 before advancing to the Finals for the first time in 2014. Initially led by Sylvia Fowles, who won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year twice as a member of Chicago, the Sky experienced more success with 2015 MVP Elena Delle Donne and seven-time league assist leader Courtney Vandersloot. In 2021, the Chicago Sky won their first WNBA Championship with a squad featuring Vandersloot, Finals MVP Kahleah Copper and seven-time All-Star Candace Parker. After the Sky drafted Angel Reese in 2024, the rookie center set the WNBA record for highest single-season rebound average and later earned the league’s Peak Performer honor for rebounds.

The Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square, home of the Chicago Sky, is located in the Near South Side community in Chicago, Illinois. The 10,387-seat facility opened in 2017, though the Sky played their first full season at their new home court in 2018. The relocation marked a major change for the Chicago Sky, who previously played outside of their home city at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The Sky share Wintrust Arena with the DePaul University Blue Demons men’s and women’s basketball teams.

  • Obesity people sitting in the tiny chairs on Courtside seats

by Gwen on 8/28/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I was sitting on the floor on Courtside seat- those seats are literally &1,000 per seat- as a regular Courtside customer we are very familiar who the paid customers are- well apparently a Courtside member chose to sell their seat and these 2 huge overweight Buffalo women were sitting in the seat! She was so huge she was sitting on my right knee and thigh- I felt violated and it was uncomfortable throughout the game- just like the airlines- if someone that huge and taken 2 seats they should pay for 2 seats! It was very uncomfortable !

  • First game and had a blast!

by Maria on 8/28/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first time attending a Chicago Sky game, and we had a great time. The team played well, and the music was on point. We are already planning to attend another home game before the season ends!

  • Way Way Way Too Loud

by Russ on 8/26/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The seats were very comfortable, we could see well even though we weren't close to the courts. The noise was way way way TOO LOUD. We came to watch a basketball game, not to lose our hearing. We stuck tissue in our ears to reduce the noise, and it helped, but not much. If you plan to keep the noise that loud (and it wasn't from the crowd, it was from the loudspeakers) I suggest you advertise that hearing protection is advised, and hand out free ear plugs to those who request them. Or, you could just lower the volume. We won't be attending any more of those games at least until we know the volume is under control.

  • Spectators

by Lori on 8/18/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

My daughter and I had a great time, but we had several kids seating behind us that were very loud and disrespectful to the other people in section 119. Along with leaving g their garbage laying around. I believe that they should have been better supervised. We were there to watch the game with the Golden State Valkyries

  • Nice arena, great fan experience

  • Injuries

    by Art45 on 7/30/25United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

A great game, but with both Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese out with injuries, the game was not what it could have been.

  • Ok experience

by Tish on 7/18/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Wasn’t really worth the money. Yes it was a closer seat but perks were very limited and lackluster.

  • Super Fun

by Brando on 7/15/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing the game live was a whole different experience. The view was nice. Game was exciting. They kept the audience entertained between playing. Food was very good. Seats were a little tight but okay. Crowd was loud and active which made it a super fun time. Recommend!

  • Great time at the Sky Game.

by Cindy on 7/15/25Wintrust Arena - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The seats were good and the DJ was jamming. The game was awesome especially cause they beat Minnesota. We love Angel and Kamilla. Both had a double-double that game. They are always fun to watch together. Love the Angel Reese 2k26 tshirts. Thank you for those.

  • Fantastic experience

We like to say there's not a bad seat in Wintrust Arena! Super fun experience watching the Sky.
