Chicago Sky History

The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team played their first season in 2006, then qualified for their first postseason in 2013 before advancing to the Finals for the first time in 2014. Initially led by Sylvia Fowles, who won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year twice as a member of Chicago, the Sky experienced more success with 2015 MVP Elena Delle Donne and seven-time league assist leader Courtney Vandersloot. In 2021, the Chicago Sky won their first WNBA Championship with a squad featuring Vandersloot, Finals MVP Kahleah Copper and seven-time All-Star Candace Parker.

The 10,387-seat facility opened in 2017, though the Sky played their first full season at their new home court in 2018. The relocation marked a major change for the Chicago Sky, who previously played outside of their home city at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The staff was great and so was the game, even tho we took a L (loss) … Definitely going to another game soon, especially if we make the playoffs

Had enough and won't go back

    by Scott Y on 8/4/23

It took forever to get into the game. The lines for security were long. They only had 2 metal detectors. By the time we got into the game, the 1st qtr was over and 2nd qtr has started. Then halftime, went to get drinks. By the time we got our drinks, there was 3 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. I want the WNBA to succeed but Wintrust Arena has to do better... This has happened twice and we may not go back. This was the try again moment. We will probably drive to Indiana instead next time or not go at all. Pay for parking and tickets and only watch half the game is ridiculous.

    Separating Women from Our Purses

    by WomanWithPurse on 8/2/23

I am furious that this arena doesn’t allow women to keep their purses on them. We stood in a long line to go into a small dark rook with lockers to surrender all bags including small purses. All venues do not separate women from their purses. AND this is the WNBA!! My husband and I refused to surrender my purse to a locker and forfeited the use of our WNBA tickets. This was our first and last attempt to see WNBA. Our money and time was wasted. Shame on you Wintrust Arena. You need to change the name.
