About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

    Cheap Trick

Excellent show! Wish they would have played just a little longer.

    I loved it but there’s one thing…

by LisaL on 9/18/23Victory Theatre - Evansville

The band was grea! They sang all of my favorites and they looked like they still enjoy what they do and being on stage! However, the audio tech. (sound guy) needed help. He was missing cues from the stage to make adjustments! I couldn’t hear anything clearly during the first two songs except high end and high volume distortion.

    Frustrating

    by Mike on 9/16/23

Guitars and drums were unfortunately too loud and distorted the songs. Otherwise, would’ve been a great show.

    Still going strong

    by Miss Gale on 9/8/23

This band never disappoints. Next year will be their 50th. Robin can still belt out all the songs, along with hitting the high note on the Flame. These guys are in great shape, and are so nice to all of their fans. Love Tom, Rick Daxx and Robin Taylor too. Find me another band out there with Cheap Tricks 50 year touring schedule, and so nice to their fans. I hope they tour forever!!!!

    Rocking the stage

    by Dozer on 8/23/23

While the opening act wasn't my style, Trooper and Cheap Trick were totally awesome. The crowd behaved themselves, the bands were very interactive, and the music sounded excellent. The venue's were set up very conviently and the staff working were helpful in every way.

Play some of your recognizable hits first

    by Jasper on 8/23/23

I remember enjoying these bands amount many other bands. As one’s exposure to more bands happen over the years the less popular songs fade into memory. You need to catch the audience, not all are from the generation when they were popular so still played songs on the radio etc. will draw new fans in and satisfy old fans who remember the cool popular songs.

    Not what I expected

by Burt Block Party Fan on 8/23/23

They should have let the kid sing the classics while the lead singer sang the new stuff. I appreciate the the band comes to Winnipeg to play. I liked the son’s song. Disappointed to not hear any classic songs - left half way through the set.

Best Cheap Trick concert I've seen!

    by Gloria on 8/23/23

The last time I saw Cheap Trick inside the beautiful Burton Cummings Theater three or four years ago, it was disappointing as Rick Nielsen was sick with a cold, and honestly, I wasn't happy with the setlist. I didn't recognize a lot of the songs they performed, and I've been a fan since I was 16 years old in 1979 lol. Well the boys made up for it on Sunday night, I was blown away that they did their earlier stuff, especially off the Black and White album! Robin Zander has still got it! The boys played their material to sheer perfection! I'm still reeling from The Experience almost 4 days later! Great memories, great times!

    Trooper should have headlined…..

    by Lola on 8/23/23

Loved Trooper!! Super fun. I guess I wasn’t as big a fan of Cheap Trick back in the day. Only knew a few songs and the others didn’t seem to be very “fun” Too heavy for my taste.

    An ok show.

    by Mick on 8/23/23

Cheap Trick still one of my favourites although they are showing their age. It was an ok show . I’ve seen them two other times and were much better. The Burt setup was great. Could have used having wine on the menu of drinks though.

A First: Cheap Trick was Disappointing

    by BCinUT on 8/20/23

As a closet groupie, I've often traveled hundreds of miles to see Cheap Trick perform. I've seen the band at least ten times, and they never disappoint. This time, however, something was amiss. Were they bored? Just off their game? Sadly, it will be the last ticket I purchase. I hope this particular show was an anomaly so the band is able to enjoy and continue to perform for satisfied fans for many years to come. The openers, The Tubes, were so... unpleasant... they're not even worth mentioning.

    Blast from the Past

    by 60smscl on 8/13/23

Cheap Trick put on a nice show. Like many of the older bands touring now, the band was tight, lead singer's voice was not what is was. That didn't mean that we didn't have a great time and sing along to many of the past hits!

    Pretty good

    by Chubie on 8/11/23

Difficult to understand lyrics, partly sound system for the "Tubes"and age of performer. Still great to be there. Cheap Trick better sound system although still a bit tough to hear some lyrics

    They Still Got It…

    by Shultsenegger on 8/11/23

This makes it a dozen occasions I’ve seen Cheap Trick. Robin still sounds Fantastic and looks effortless doing it. Rick is as entertaining as ever and his guitar sounds crunchy. They seem to enjoy each other on stage. The Sons as part of the band is Priceless. Keep up the good work.
