Music played and musicians were wonderful. The performance lacked and could have been so much better with someone actually singing the songs along with the band and symphony as I’ve seen in many other performances (Beatles tribute, ABBA, etc.)
I am so glad I went to this show. I will definitely go again if it returns.
My all time favorite album by Prince is Parade (the soundtract to Under the Cherry Moon) because it REALLY shows Prince’s musical genius. Kiss is my least favorite song on that album, and it’s a great song. Obviously the Symphony agrees as they performed many of the songs from that album... They just need to add Mountains...Loved it!
This show was more than what I expected, They did a fantastic job paying tribute to this iconic legend. I would recommend this show to everyone and I would probably see it again. The final song Purple Rain was SIMPLY THE BEST,
Very neat! First time to see a show like this. Will do again!
The performance was incredible. We were dancing at our seats we had a lot of fun.
The music was amazing. Full orchestra and band. The only thing missing was Prince. We were dancing in our seats. The lady playing the electric violin was amazing and had great energy.
The musical arrangements were excellent. The song choice was very good...it's impossible to have ALL the Prince songs you love in a 2 hour show. All the musicians were very talented - the lead violinist, guitarists, and keyboard- EXCELLENT! A fitting celebration of Prince's life and work. Oh, and appropriate for people of all ages.
Beautiful concert! Beautiful tribute to our beloved Prince O(+> . I was moved to tears.
Every pop artist should have an orchestra play their music!!! The music was amazing.
QuestLove did an amazing job with this project. The handwritten lyrics of some of Prince’s popular hits was a great touch
Not what I expected... the 1st half I didn’t recognize most of the songs... 2nd half was much more entertaining the way it was advertised I thought there was going to be a singer similar to the symphony I went to a couple years previously not the case All in all very talented performers just not what I thought I was going g to see
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I have never experienced a night of music such as this. We gave the Chicago Philharmonic a standing ovation. We laughed, cried, danced and sang. Definitely a night to remember for a long, long time.
The music was technically well-performed. Our main disappointment was that so many of the symphony members, especially the woodwind and string players, looked totally uninterested in the music they were playing. It didn't feel like a "celebration" at all.
Amazing, throughly enjoyed! A great surprise.....,,..in the detail of the performances.
I have traveled across the country to watch celebrations of Mr. Nelson and his music. I have walked out of each one. I have watched many on TV and have turned them off. This celebration of the Artist is NOT one of those. From the introduction by Questlove to the final video accompanied by the orchestra, the attention to the detail of the music written by the Artist was translated into a musical dream for the eyes as well as the ears. No one member of the band and orchestra tried to showcase themselves. They were artists presenting his music with their best ability, enjoying it as much as playing it. Any songs that were sung were only vocalized with one chorus, leaving the audience to sing as they wished to the music they knew, as the Artist has done on more than one occasion in his concerts. The more unknown music offered in the beginning was a perfect compilation of works not heard in the mainstream audience and the well known medleys the perfect ending to the show. The band members and orchestra members were in sync with the Artist's vision as was the video and music show that accompanied the music perfectly. One without the other and the show would have missed the mark. With all the components - the mark was a dead bullseye ... and the final nod to the Artist - his gut wrenching, masterful guitar in his last video shown that was not overwhelmed by the orchestra but gently supported so the audience could enjoy every nuance of the Artist on his guitar was perfect. I left after the last note died, the last light turned on and the last person filed out of my row. Only then did I stand up to leave, in tears ... not of sadness but happiness because finally the Artist has been honored by his own work, not an impression, but a translation to others' abilities who recognize their abilities and did not try to be him, they were themselves and simply showed their love for his music. So my thanks to all who made this possible. This is the celebration I was waiting 4.
The orchestra was very good. The audio on the videos was horrible. The videos themselves were extremely blurry. The only thing worth watching was the main singer who also played the viper violin. But again the audio was terrible and couldn’t hear her well. They played too many “deeper cuts“ and a little of those were very boring. The crowd only got livelier when the hits were played. Not what was expected at all. Not worth the money at all. The Prince estate and Quest Love could of and should of done a much better production. Was also hoping to purchase some cool merchandise. The ONLY thing available was a men’s white T-shirt for $35. Again not worth it. Love the venue though; always have.
It was awesome!! Would love to see it again!! Friends too who haven't seen it!!
Great video footage, and it was awesome to hear the symphony perform. Girl violinist was spectacular. Sound quality was just a little off, especially with videos.
