Remarkable representation of Prince music. Nice variety of songs. Don’t miss this if it comes to your town.
This was a great tribute to Prince. His music translates so well to the symphony sound. The blonde lady violinist was amazing. She was jamming whether she was playing or not. I loved it and I was only disappointed because it ended way 2 early.
Great show. Excellent musicians. Just needed a dedicated singer who was also a great crowd performer would have made this show phenomenal.
Loved the amazing Prince symphony center stage. It was great to hear the orchestrations on top of the music; showed the complexity and layers to his music. Wish the show had closing credits for the conductor and orchestra members. Otherwise, bravo to the magic of Clare and Brent Fischer's work and thanks to Questlove for bringing this interpretation of Prince's genius to life.
This wasn’t a cheap ticket. We paid for a seat in the center row 10. Prince Symphony was a little disappointing, as the description mentions vocals along side the band but there was very little of that. Sound for the videos behind the band was poor. Still had fun I’m the second half but first half was “hidden gems” which most hadn’t heard of. Would have loved to hear the lyrics or see the lyrics along with the “hidden gems”.
This show was a uniquely amazing take on the music of Prince! It was a beautiful night and a great venue. There was a rain storm just an hour before performance time. As patrons went to their seats, staff members escorted them and dried off their seats! The sunset as the “Purple Reign” began. A memeorable event for sure! I left search the internet to find a CD of the music! This was definite a night I want to relive!
Prince's music translated beautifully to symphonic form. The music was funky enough to make you want to dance, and at the same time so beautiful and simplistic to bring tears to your eyes as you imagine his greatest era in an instrumental symphonic format. Prince fans already knew this was possible, but to hear it finally translated, amazing. For ardent Prince fans, the casual listener, or someone who did not follow Prince at all, but attended this show, they would be able to tell his majestic artistry not just by the music but because of the well choreographed video clips and audio tapes played throughout the evening. Well done and well orchestrated. The only negative for me, Prince is gone.
The concert began, songs were played, no one spoke to the audience, music selections were fair. Other than the one violinist, there was NO ENERGY!! We were disappointed that a venue ok’d by the Prince estate would lack the fundamental energy of who Prince was. We were also amazed of the large number of empty seats.
I didn’t know what to expect. Beautiful music, great incorporation of audio and video clips of Prince. Only plus would have been if Quest Luv was in attendance, not audio recording. He could have been the preshow and intermission DJ.
Was totally taking in by surprise that a Orchestra band could sound that good . What a show I know it will get better as it performs more. I would definitely go see it again.
Saw the show at The NJ State Theater Thursday, September 6. Show was amazing and emotional. Need to have better pictures on screen of Prince. The videos did not coincide with what the symphony was playing. Had some glitches that need to be worked out (even the musicians knew something was not right at times). If you are going to pay homage and honor Prince, you best be on your "A" game. Overall, the show was great.
