Band was great, Aragon... not so much

by N. H. on 12/9/21Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

First off, the Lumineers put on a good show, although we would have loved for them to start a little before 9:40. The issue we had with our experience was the venue including the clear lack of maintenance staff on hand for a sold out show. We had the unfortunate privilege of a girl near us getting rather sick and vomiting in 3 separate areas in the middle of the main gathering space. The crowd naturally parsed like the red sea so that someone would be able to come clean up the incident. My wife notified the staff right away, but it still took the venue 2 hours before someone could finally come to the rescue and mop up the very gross large area of the event space. On top of that, the Aragon just has no flow for people to get to the outer ring to get drinks for the show (not to even mention how egregious their pricing is where the beer costs double what it does for a cubs game), and getting to the bathrooms downstairs is a nightmare. Overall, the Aragon theatre left a lot to be desired where I don't think we will be back anytime soon when there are so many better organized venues in Chicago.

Great concert, venue safety rules lax

by Chelle on 12/9/21Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The concert itself was great. Lumineers always put on a great show & the 2 opening bands (Motherfolk & Michigander) we’re really good. The “safety protocols” at Aragon, however, did not make me feel very safe. They barely glanced at vax cards, didn’t follow their own posted clear bag protocol & no one was wearing masks once they actually got inside.

    Who was the headliner?

by Josh on 12/9/21Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The opening band should NOT play for 2 hours. I came to see the Lumineers not Michigander, which I don’t mind, but not for 2 hours. It was a Monday night the Lumineers didn’t take the stage until 9:40 with a 7 pm doors open. Just poorly executed.

Awesome Show, Glorious Sons are the Best!

by CarolY on 12/23/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

We hadn't been to the Aragon in over 30 years (yes, we're that old) so didn't have any idea what to expect. Got there an hour early and still were able to stand front row to the side. Mainly came to see The Glorious Sons & Highly Suspect but loved 311 also. Afterwards, hit the Cubby Bear and saw TGS again, this time with only about 100 other people, so cool. Thanks WKQX for putting on a super great show, absolutely loved it.

Left Breathless but wanting more Angels & Airwaves

by Pipanders on 12/20/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Angels and Airwaves are like no other with their unique sound and shows that make you ‘feel’ more deeply than anything you have experienced before. And, they did not disappoint. It just broke my heart that they were not (very surprisingly) the headline act (of course I knew that before I went, but it was still sad that the set was so short). But, putting that aside, the event was pretty cool with all sorts of activities, everything was well run and both The Federal Empire + Cage the Elephant put on a good show. The atmosphere was mixed, there was some overly aggressive nastiness going on not far from me, but I was lucky enough to have really great people where I was so was able to enjoy the show.

Love 311, but this venue needs to update their acoustics

by trisigma443 on 12/18/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Unfortunately, traffic foiled our plan to get there early enough to see the first band. Highly Suspect was ok. Their sound isn’t something I’m really into. The lead singer sure does like to talk...I’m sure in due time he will find his place onstage. 311 was as fun as always. I’ve seen them now more times than I can count (thereabouts 30). Unfortunately the sound quality of the venue is lacking. It’s an old venue, I get it, but with modern technology there has to be some way for the acoustics to be improved upon. The crowd was a mixed bag. I’ve read reports of fights in some areas, but happily those around us were a fun and welcoming group. I enjoyed the little extras that KWQX had for everyone (pictures with Santa, pins, etc.).

    Something was missing

by BB on 12/18/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Overall the show was great but should have been spectacular. Nothing was going to stop me from enjoying one thing that always uplifts my spirits...that is music. But Highly Suspect did not perform two of the songs that have brought them to where they are, with their new album which I love. But Little One and the energy behind Lydia would have made this concert blow my mind completely and they were not performed. Thank god 311 was there to professionally bring the energy and close out the entire event by playing a variety of their awesome collection.

    Great venue. Dead crowd

by Bitchface.brisa on 12/18/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The venue was great but the crowd was older so they were a bit dead. The glorious sons killed it! But highly suspect was low-key a let down as they played alot off their new album which I'm not really a fan of but other than that everyone killed it

    It was ok

by MGM on 12/18/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The Nights we stole Christmas was ok. The first band, Glorious Sons killed it but the lack of lighting given the opener was appalling. Could barely see them. Excellent, high energy R & R band. Highly Suspect was a hot mess. Not sure why they decided to be a Hip Hop band after writing such great alternative rock songs. It felt kind of poseurish. Jimmy could not sing. It was just all over the place and bad. Great to see the nightly 311 again. It was a fun night, just hated Highly Suspect and I was looking forward to seeing them. Q101 does a lot to make the show fun, just wish they paid more for lighting and less on the giant, distracting, white sign in the back with Q101 logos.

    Awesome Concert

All 3 bands were awesome. 311 was off the charts. Would see them again when ever they tour thru Illinois

    My favorite band ever!!

by Anna on 12/18/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

The 1975 is my favorite band and the show did not disappoint! I do have to say the openers were far too long and there were two of them which is just too much. In total the two openers took about 2hrs so I was standing around for over 3hrs before the headliner even came out. But when they did oh was it worth it!! It was an incredible night and I had a blast!

Rating is for the event not the artists

by C. on 12/17/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Mumford and Sons and Local Natives were fantastic. However, this event was definitely over-sold, so it was impossible to find anywhere, even in the way, way back, to stand comfortably. It was miserable standing in the over-served crowd, we ended up finding a spot in the outer hallway with an obstructed view so we could at least listen to the music. If there had been an emergency I honestly don't know how anyone would have gotten out safely. It took forever to exit the venue because they were utilizing only one staircase. This venue was very cool, but I would hesitate going back for another one of these events.

Filled with surprises and the best live music

Cool balloon toss in red and green at the end- for the main floor. Musical acts were on point all nite!

    horrible venue

by Pumpkin on 12/17/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

I have seen Mumford and Sons numerous times in concert, so I know they put on a fantastic show. My issue was not with them, but with the venue. I purchased tickets online prior to the concert and traveled from Phoenix to Chicago to see this show. The only issue is, I didn't get to see a second of the show. When we arrived, you could not step foot into the actual concert area. Apparently the concert was oversold and people were spilling out into the hallways, which is where we stood for quite a while before the concert even started. Any time we tried to squeeze through the crowd to get into the concert area, we were trapped amongst a sea of bodies with our backs to a hallway bar. Needless to say, we traveled across the country but ended up leaving the venue as it was way too packed and we couldn't see or hear Mumford anyway. This was a total disappointment and I can say I will never, ever attend any event at this venue again.

    Mumford and Sons

by AM on 12/17/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

They were great, but only played for 1:15 which I think is way too short for the money and effort.

Beautiful venue but too many drunks

by Jon on 12/17/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

We loved the venue and the staff were very nice but they need to limit alcohol sales. Saw more than one person being literally carried off by paramedics - just sad. Exiting the venue was difficult and extremely congested. Had there been a fire or an emergency I seemed like it would have been a death trap. Mumford and Sons were awesome as usual but you could tell they were not pleased by the rude talking during the single mic song (which might have been more if not for the talking and drunks screaming out).

    Mumford and Sons-TNWSC Chicago

by K. G. on 12/16/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Best night of my life. Stood in the freezing cold all day waiting. And those wonderful men came out before the show and brought us hot cocoa, cupcakes and a private song on the sidewalk. I am still dead.

    Really good show

by bg on 12/16/19Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

On par w # of songs played on Delta tour but ran just a bit over 1 hour 10 mins. Would loved to have seen a few more hits in an encore (there was not one). All in though really good show in an intimate environment.
