GHOST is Broadway's new musical phenomenon! This exhilarating show fuses mind-bending illusions, a timeless story of everlasting love and a fresh pop/rock score by Grammy winners Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror," Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know") for a theatrical experience unlike any Broadway has seen. Adapted from the hit film by its Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin and directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, The Norman Conquests), this astounding spectacle is being called "EYE-POPPINGLY BRILLIANT" (AP) and "UNLIKE ANYTHING SEEN ONSTAGE BEFORE." (Newsday).
It was exciting unique and refreshing. Good cast good story good set up I love the 3d effect mixing traditional anf modern technology.
The big thing that caught my eye is the wonderful stage effects. I liked how they mixed with video and some magic. I enjoyed the music and was singing the signature songs for days. There was humor, action and brought a few tears to my eyes.
I went to the show at the Pantages with very little expectations. The show exceeded those expectations. It was very enjoyable from start to finish. The actors were good, though the two lead actors did not have very strong voices. The orchestra was way too loud and drowned out the singing. Overall, we had a really good time. I would recommend the show. It will surprise you.
I saw the movie many times so obviously I was comparing the two and they were very close. I very much enjoyed the effects bringing the movie to life. I'm not a big musical fan but I got through this one and would do it again; they're growing on me. Oda Mae Brown was absolutely hilarious.
I took my 23 year old son and we both enjoyed it greatly. The singing was excellent. The special effects were phenomenal. He did not stop talking about it to all his friends for days. It was a great evening for us.
Apart from the special effects that were a tad cheesy at times, I felt like I was watching a high school production. The talents were so-so. Molly's vocals was terrible ... weak and pitchy (sorry!). Nothing really creative with the choreography, mostly a lot of background dancing. Odamae Brown's character may have made up for the show's flatness but I think it's inherent to the character and still not enough to carry the show. Also, either the background music was too loud or the vocals really were too weak because a lot of times, the song gets drowned out by the music. When you endeavor to interpret a blockbuster like "Ghost", I think you need to make sure it is a better or at least at par interpretation... Or you should just leave it alone. A for ambition, B for effort, C for execution. I'm glad I only paid the promo price for this show.
Really enjoyed this musical, the use of multimedia was fantastic!
I had not heard of the Ghost Musical until my friend wanted me to go with her. I did not get a chance to read any reviews before our show and i usually do so i did not know what to expect at all. If you have seen the movie Ghost then you know the storyline of the musical. However the way they told the story and incorporated song was refreshing and surprising. The special effects and different sets were amazing and the music was beautiful. This is a great love story. You will have gone through a roller coaster of emotions by the time they are through with you. It was a wonderful night. i took 2 friends who had never been to the theater and never thought they would enjoy something like this but they both had tears streaming down their face before it was over. My other friend said this was the best musical she had ever seen. It was surprisingly entertaining. I would definitely recommend.
It was really beautiful. I didnt expect all the other effects they have. And since I have watched Ghost the movie, the musical itself was fantastic how they combined the two..
Never seen the movie. Show was pretty good. The music was a bit loud at times. Had a nice mix of humor and drama.
With all the available talent in Los Angeles and throughout the country, I was surprised the two lead actors couldn't carry a tune
Truly enjoyed watching Ghost. It's a tragic love story that will grab you from the beginning and at intermission you want more, oh and you will get more. The cast is fantastic!
Everyone in our group were amazed by the special effects that were used; especially in the subway sequences. The actors were very believeable and the props made you feel like you were part of the action.
Needed more music and or longer duration of music from the movie. This show will always be compared to the movie by everyday people. Got to hone in on that. Whoopi character and cast did a great job. Good time.
Absolutely loved this production. The special effects were truly amazing like nothing I've ever seen in a live production. The acting, singing and choreography were outstanding. I wished that the song words could have been more understandable when Molly was singing. I'm not sure if the difficulty was due to her voice and enunciating or because the music overpowered her voice.
The show was entertaining, funny and a nice musical.
Went to see GHOST on BROADWAY and thought I wouldn't like it ... I was TOTALLY WRONG . Was blown away by the visuals and the illusions.and really enjoyed the musical .Wanted to attend the tour to see how they would handle all the stage magic . Never expected it to be on par with what I saw in New York . This tour certainly delivers on all levels ... was not disappointed . It was one of the best touring shows I have seen .. everything was excellent from the talent to the scenery to the projections to the lighting to the illusions .Top marks across the board. Throughly enjoyed seeing this musical for a second time.
The 2 leads are dreadful. Poor singing and acting with no chemistry between them which is what the story is all about. The only redeeming part of this show was Cara Stewart who plays an amazing and entertaining Oda Mae, and a couple of the large production numbers without the leads.
I didn't know what to expect with this play. Knowing in the movie they had to have special effects....I wasn't sure how they would reproduce those effects in a play performance. I was very pleased at the special effects they were able to accomplish. We really enjoyed the performance! Very highly recommended!!
The show follows the movie plot of a young couple in love divided by tragedy. The young woman tries to make sense of what has happened as her fiance tries to solve his own murder. The show is serious and poignant until he enlists the help of a questionable psychic to help discover his killer. Quite hilarious and her participation takes the story line in a new direction. This was the role that won Whoppi Goldberg her Oscar.Very good musical numbers and highly recommended.
