GHOST is Broadway's new musical phenomenon! This exhilarating show fuses mind-bending illusions, a timeless story of everlasting love and a fresh pop/rock score by Grammy winners Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror," Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know") for a theatrical experience unlike any Broadway has seen. Adapted from the hit film by its Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin and directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, The Norman Conquests), this astounding spectacle is being called "EYE-POPPINGLY BRILLIANT" (AP) and "UNLIKE ANYTHING SEEN ONSTAGE BEFORE." (Newsday).

Saw Ghost at the Pantages Thursday night. The visual effects and computer -based graphics was amazing! I've never seen such in a theater production but it was very effective. Why bother building sets when you can put the setting on a screen on stage like a hologram. I'm guessing this the wave of the future. Anyway the actors were very appealing and talented. The songs weren't particularly catchy or memorable but the musical stayed very true to movie storyline. The sound was crackly and not so clear ( maybe my hearing is going?). Carla Stewart, the actress who played Oda Mae was great - energetic, funny, and a delight. She made every scene watchable!
I really liked this play! Amazing! I was a little reluctant about watching a play of a movie, but I really think it was amazing what they did on the stage
My husband and I went to see Ghost last weekend, and totally enjoyed ourselves. Before going, we had both wondered what could possibly be done with Ghost, as a stage play, having seen the movie more than once--and a favorite. Everyone did a great job in keeping us entertained throughout the show--actors, screen visuals, music--all added to a level of excitement to all aspects of the show. We would both highly recommend the show to anyone considering going to see it. Great job!
Five stars goes to the Pantages. Outstanding performances from Carla Stewart, Brandon Curry and Bobby Haltiwanger. Lack Luster performance from the two leads Steven Douglas and Katie Postotnik. Sound system mixing was so off that it was difficult to hear the dialogue. Honestly had I been sitting in aisle seats, I would have gotten up and left . I will return to the Pantages for future performances but will not recommend the production Ghost to anyone I know. This is the first negative review I have ever written!
No expectations going in. Have always loved the storyline. Best part of the play were the effects. The actors were all over the board from great (Ona Mae) to OK, an not really outstanding. The orchestra was so loud that it was hard to hear some of the solos. Since Enchanted Melody is a ballad, I had a hard time reconciling why they made it into a Rock Opera.
The play was a cleverly updated version of the movie with great visual effects
The play was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend it to anyone. It brings back memories of the movie.
I thought the musical itself was okay. I am a HUGE fan of the movie Ghost. What ruined the musical for me was Molly. She should of had dark short hair. She sang great but I couldn't get past the curly blond hair. I think people relate to Demi Moore.
The ensemble and the special effects stole the show. I thought that the leads were on the weak side, but Oda Mae Brown, the ensemble, and the special stage effects made up for that. Stage effects were very well done, very believable, very creative...I loved it. It followed the movie very well. Loved the urban dancing scenes and the staging of that.
Very very very good, great musical, great event. Loved the cast.
The entire experience was wonderful we enjoyed the musical performances and the technological aspects too!
I was prepared for an amazing production, but was thrilled and was excited to observe the technical set and lighting motions displayed!!!!
Plenty of room for improvement in some areas but the staging and effects were truly unique and spectacular. Overall it was a popcorn film made into a popcorn musical.
The special effects carried the show. The sound was iffy, and it was extremely difficult to understand the words, whether the chorus or individuals were singing. The microphones were very noticeable on the singers. The dancing was very jerky and discordant. Costumes, nothing special...........but the special effects were special and worth the cost and trouble
My wife dragged me to this and I thought it would be a downer of a musical. Not so! Very well staged and acted. Loved the music, illusions, and portrayal of the ghost and the psychic. Overall found myself tapping my foot and applauding the performances. Actually liked it better than the movie. Don't want to inadvertently write any spoilers so will just say "Go see it".
Ghost is one of my all time favorite movies. Ghost the Musical is my LEAST favorite movie to musical adaption. The only best parts were the scenes lifted directly from the screenplay. None of the songs added anything to the story and I could never hear or understand the lyrics. The ensemble and their dance numbers where just shoved in there and were of no value. Most ridiculous were the dancing ghosts. Key to the failure of the show is the lack of chemistry and charm from the lead couple. They were just there. That isn't going to compel the audience to care what happens to them which is the spine of the story. The actor playing the villainous Carl would be more believable playing a college student than he was as a New York banker. The saving grace of the cast was Carla R. Stewart as Oda Mae Brown. Whoopi Goldberg won the Oscar in the iconic performance and that was the role live up to. Stewart made the role her own and got tons of laughs. The special effects/visual allusions/projections were awesome. Too bad that wasn't the heart of the show.
The show was good and entertaining. Some parts like the parts of the numbers could have been a little different but over all good
The special effects were disappointing, a bit cheesy. More importantly, this is supposed to be a musical but there were no memorable songs except for 'unchained melody' which is by righteous brothers. Also, the cast were mediocre, except for the psychic character, who stole the show and was far better than the two leads. I only bought tickets to see the show because of travelzoo deal and since I had seen the movie, I thought 'why not?'. But I found myself asking how this kind of show actually made it to the stage. Key ingredient for a good musical is the songs/misuc and this show unfortunately didn't have it.
This was a GREAT show. I was not sure how it was really going to be and when I received the email advertising discounted tickets I jumped on it. I was so glad that I did well worth it and made a great gift for my cousins birthday.
