About

Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

Good clean humor and incredible illusions. Took my mother and we both loved it. Show is just about the right length as well.

    Great Show

    by Chuck on 8/2/23

The show was GREAT!! I've always been a big fan of Penn and Teller. The only problem I can come up with is getting to the parking lot. Many elevators were not in service. I don't gamble so I had no interest in going to the casino. I took a lot of time to get to my car.

    Really good

    by Joe3478 on 8/2/23

Great audience participation. All round good to great show. Though some of the bits were reworked old one we still enjoyed it very much. Loved the part of them showing us how some of it worked.

    Meh

    by DBH on 8/2/23

They were much better in their younger years when I saw them in NYC. Now it’s mostly card tricks. Meh.

    OK road show

    by NeverSeeMe on 8/2/23

I love Penn & Teller, have followed them for years/decades, but had never been to a show. This was OK, but did give off a bit of a one-night only, road show type vibe. As in: "We're not going to pull out all the stops and bring all the biggest and best stuff because it just isn't worth the money and effort to do so on the road for one night."Nature of a lot of the tricks is close-up, and they had two giant screens to see, but then it just feels like watching on TV, so that may have contributed. I hope the Vegas show is more spectacular in its offering. Many of the tricks were oldies but goodies. One classic trick in particular, I still can't figure out if Penn fumbled the delivery, or the fumbling was part of the trick. Either way, turned out amazing. There were several new to me tricks that were excellent. Teller's slightly more vocal involvement was highly entertaining. Penn funny as usual. Definitely a good, but not great experience overall.

    My own fault

    by WSL on 8/2/23

I hated my seats. I didn't pay attention to the venue seating arrangement and sat far enough to the right I had to watch much of it on the big screen. I was in section 101 row A. Watching it on the screen there were elements you'd miss from the stage. Only the seats on the floor in front of us got stage interaction(not a complaint FYI). I enjoyed the audience participation part of the show. Penn & Teller were great. Highly entertaining. Plenty of kids there. Had a really good time.

    A little disapointed

    by JenP on 8/2/23

The Casino was a two hour wait for dinner - an hour to get a table (totally understandable) and then an hour to get a burger and fries (this is where the frustration started along with our server disappearing). We were 5 minutes late to the show and missed out on the ability to get the cards for the finale (so disappointing but possibly my fault for being late but not my fault if they ran out in the first place). Penn and Teller told you too much how a trick was done which took away some of the magic for me. I know its a trick, I just want to be amazed for a while - they took out the magic of it.

The Penn and Teller show at the MGM Theater National Harbor was great fun. Audience members participated in the comedy magic show. It was very entertaining.

    Legends didn't dissapoint

    by Joe on 8/2/23

I've been a lifelong fan of Penn and Teller. I remember watching their specials as a kid, "Bull$%^&"on Showtime, and have thoroughly enjoyed watching them on Fool Us. We had the good fortune to acquire front section tickets for the show in Washington, DC and the show was outstanding! My wife and I really enjoyed the magic tricks, the comedy, and the banter Penn and Teller brought to the performance. The audience participation was at an all-time high, with several audience members being invited on stage to be a part of the show. There was also a card trick at the end that every member of the audience was a part of. Amazing show, mix of classic and new illusions. thoroughly entertaining.

    Decent, A little pricy

    by Brian on 8/2/23

Overall the show was decent, however the show was not well designed for a large scale audience. The tricks are old school more rudimentary magic tricks intertwined with jokes that are hit and miss.

    Show was great..theater was gross

    by Sonnet116shakes on 7/31/23

Honestly SO disappointed in the Tilles center. The orchestra seating was infested with ants and it was disgusting. I bought chips and they were stale and needed to be thrown away. The two screens also did not zoom in at all on pen or teller rendering them useless. Pen and Teller were great though. Wish they would have chosen audience members beyond the first three rows. Not having a chance at being chosen was disappointing.

    Wonderful Evening

    by ABS on 7/31/23

Very entertaining evening The chemistry between these two magicians is wonderful and their use of audience members adds to a show. Glad I saw them. I will see them again.

Video screens at Tilles too small

    by Mark on 7/31/23

Tilles Center has a lot of rows. Those at the back of the venue rely on the two video screens to see the action on the stage. The two video screens used at Tilles for Penn & Teller were too small.

    Good but Overhyped

    by Kristin on 7/31/23

Penn and Teller and very entertaining, funny performers, but something about their show felt incomplete. Some of the acts were very good, and others were so-so. Many of the acts that were good though weren't mind-blowing either.
