This was a must-see presentation, extremely family oriented for all ages. Everything was heart felt. Props, music, dancing, this has everything!
This is my 3rd time over the decades and I see new numbers added and refresh of the characters. The opening number brings tears to my eyes as the audience is immersed and absorbed into the creative grandeur of the African savannah. Raifiki sang one number using the clicking dialect reminiscent of Miriam Makeba. The way Scarface and Mufasa move brings a certain dangerousness to their character when they lower their mask. An amazing production and thoroughly feels one is in Africa.
I've been a Lion King fan since I was a kid. I grew up watching it over and over again, to the point of annoying my parents. I have the VHS, got the blu ray when it came out, watched the live action movie, everything. I can honestly say that the musical was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was the same story, but the minor changes they made, along with the amazing talent of the performers, made this night such a memorable moment. It made it even more special as it was a birthday present to myself haha I loved it dearly and will count the days to when I can see it again.
I really enjoyed the Lion King. The costuming and music were excellent.
A must see of a theatrical and a beautiful experience
The show was great and the Pantageus theatre is great. I liked how they interacted with the crowd by having people out in the crowd. The only annoying thing was they let you inside but you have to wait 30 mins to get your seat and they started 15 mins late.
Absolutely amazing!!! Costumes, the set, the music were all amazing!!! You must see The Lion King!!!
This was my first time seeing The Lion King (the play) and I loved every minute of it! My best friend and I took our mothers to go see it for a mother daughter date and they loved it as well! From start to end your laughing and singing along with the songs, they even enter act with the audience some, and the way the bring the animals to life is just amazing! I will definitely see the play again whenever they come back!
This show was absolutely incredible. Everything was superb from the acting, comedy and costumes. It’s great for the entire family.
The Lion King was a hit on Saturday night as well as it was 18 Years ago. Did not disappoint.
I’m a regular at the Pantages and the beginning of any performance is ridiculously loud to the point all the sounds jumble together. As an architect with a minor in acoustics I realize the theater may have historical issues with speaker placement etc. But there’s a live audio crew. Why can’t they ratchet the master sound down for some parts and raise it for others? I was on the 13th row and could not hear one of the soft songs.
I took my Godbabies and my family we had great seats and the lion King was awesome..love love love the Lion King will see again
From curtain up to Curtain down this show has the ‘wow’ factor. It’s a show for all ages. I have to go see it again!
Loved everything about this experience! From buying the tickets to getting to our seats was so easy. Can't wait to come back to Pantages. Always wonderful!
The costumes were out of this world! Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Music was OUTSTANDING! My only disappointment was some of the main characters were hard to hear and we were fairly close to the front. Hopefully they will adjust the microphones to improve the performance! Otherwise it was very well done!
Excellent everything was perfect, my daughter and I loved it
When I was 5 years old, my parents took to to the Schubert Theatre in Chicago, to see a production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. The theatre became, and has remained my 2nd home ever since. I’ve taken it all in…DEATH OF A SALESMAN, AMADEUS, CHORUS LINE, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, WICKED…All so memorable. Many of these and other notable productions I have seen multiple times…But I’ve never experienced anything like I did at the Pantages Theatre this week when I took in THE LION KING! The visual picture constructed for the audience through the dancing, staging and most impressive of all the costuming was beyond breathtaking! One literally loses sight of the fact that there are actually human beings manipulating (and I hate to use the word “puppets) but I don’t know how else to label what I saw…It was remarkable. The music, talent and energy that permeated the theatre was exhilarating! The first bars of music sung acapella by Rafiki, which opened the show, brought cheers from the appreciative audience and set the tone of excellence which would follow throughout the night. If you are considering purchasing tickets for this show or if your were thinking of taking a pass…Don’t make the mistake of not taking the plunge and securing the best seats that you can afford. Hurry..The run is almost over!
Overall, five stars! I did find parts of it to be a little quirky and almost odd at times. But I was probably looking for what I had seen years ago, and there was just some pieces of it I was scratching my head a bit. But my kids were on the edge of their seat. My 24-year-old niece I never seen a professional show and is officially hooked. It was awesome and moving.
I came away from The Lion King wondering why it is such a big hit. Yes, the costumes and stage were beautiful, but I couldn't understand any of the lyrics. It may be a good experience for children, but it left me feeling cheated (that we spent so much for so little).
