    Fantastic auditory experience

I would listen in person live every week if tickets were sold. Absolutely great.

    Loved every minute of it

    by M. H. on 9/12/23

The characters, the actors, the stories, the music…all of it! Dark and mystical, heartwarming and funny, heartbreaking and emotional…all wrapped together in an awesome show. Those who complain about it being used as a political platform obviously haven’t really been listening or they would know where the show creators stand politically as well as knowing that they aren’t shy about using their platform to discuss their liberal leanings. Real fans would know. I would literally pay to see this show again, exactly as it was. It was amazing!

    Dark and Wonderful

Show was awesome. Picture A Prairie Home Companion with ghost stories, witchcraft, and better music.

Nothing reminiscent of Appalachia and bad music

by Unamused on 9/12/23Lexington Opera House - Lexington

As a whole, the show was disorganized. There was no theme throughout the program and the music distracted and interrupted the story telling (what little there was of it). The musical performance was poor to say the least. The banjo player might as well have had a guitar because he did not pick the strings in traditional Appalachian banjo fashion. All the songs lacked subtlety and creativity. The story about Jack was the only redeeming feature of the show. The introductory story seemed like a contrived set up just so they could make a sexual joke that didn't really land well. We have no objections to the politics that were showcased and agree with the sentiments regarding the mentioned political leaders - so please don't assume this is an underlying motive or bias - our family had mixed views on the juxtaposition of these larger political statements with the speaker's personal tribulations growing up. As a family born and raised in Appalachia, rather than a new spin or homage to the culture and beliefs, this felt more like perverse infantilism.

    Even Better Than Expected

by Josh Tracy on 9/11/23Lexington Opera House - Lexington

I had high hopes for this show as it is my favorite podcast. They far exceeded them! I didn't expect as much musical content (which was stellar) and the cast were just as amazing in person as they are in audio. Would definitely attend future tours!

    Rich Storytelling and Odd Plugs

by ZW on 9/11/23Lexington Opera House - Lexington

The narrators gave wonderful performances and the storylines superb as usual. The narration was energetic and earthy, it's the reason I love Old Gods. I enjoyed the music between sets regardless of the skill level and can appreciate letting lifelong friends play. The liberal political soapbox plug in the middle was unnecessary and Ill-fitting. It took the "family"feeling away from the second half.

    Amazing performance!

    by LT on 8/23/23

I saw OGOA at the Metropolitan Theater in Morgantown WV. The show was so much fun! The live music was incredible, and the cast of this show can spin a yarn like no other. I came away from the evening pleased as punch and ready for season 4!

    A great show!

    by Chris on 8/23/23

The show was fantastic and the venue was great as always. I was expecting maybe an hour, typical podcast legnth, but the nearly 3 hour show with multiple musicians was beyond my expectations. Wife and I had a great night out!
