This was the first time that I've ever gone out to a show for a anthology podcast and it won't be my last. It was so cool to meet with other fans in person, it helps that everyone was so nice. My actually goal for 2020 was to got to more events like this because I was such a home body and well you know the reason why that took three years to do. I've been listening to OGoA since the beginning of the year for the commute to work. I loved every bit of the show but the parts that made me laugh were the in advertisements (by design I'm sure). If I had to describe the show to a friend, it would be Prairie home companions Gothic queer younger cousin from the south.
Great venue, fantastic staff ,fabulous show and wonderful bar .
Show was amazing, and everything it was expected to be. My experience was great, though with a few minor hiccups such as not getting my VIP stuff when I was supposed too and the parking situation was a tad confusing. But those were rectified and everything else was absolutely amazing.
The show was perfect! Excellent balance of music, comedy, and storytelling!
A fantastic theatrical experience, that could only be heightened by an actual play! It was immersive, and such a delight to see in person. Such a wonderful and amazing story, that kept many of us on the edge of our seat the entire time. đ¤
This is a wonderful podcast, but the podcasting skills did not translate to the live show. The show opened with around 10 minutes of ads. After that there was music, one piece of microfiction, and a lot of talking. The actual storytelling started two hours (TWO HOURS) in. And after all that, the story was middling. Ideally, a podcast liveshow should have an interesting standalone story that's fun for people who love the podcast, and for new listeners drawn by the live event. But the story relied entirely on character recognition, with nothing for new listeners, and had a lot of filler, including several minutes of acted out small talk (how are your children, you make great cornbread ect.). Even so, I might have enjoyed it if it had happened sooner. But, two hours in my enthusiasm had already been thoroughly killed. We ended up leaving early.
Musical acts where meh, wildly comical and cringy "hex" virtue signaling, stories were mid and regular interupted by either the performers or the audience.
OGoA The Price of Progress was an awesome experience. They combined live music and their fantastic story telling style into one epic show. The venue was a perfect fit as well (The Wilbur in Boston). I HIGHLY recommend getting the meet and greet tickets, the entire cast was friendly and really made you feel appreciated as a fan
Old Gods of Appalachia never disappoints. This show had a great combination of storytelling and music. It lasted 2-½ hours so they certainly didnât skimp. Highly recommend.
Three musical acts! Humor! Drama! Fear! It was a wholly fulfilling experience. In this order, I laughed out loud, cried without even bothering to wipe my tears, and was completely pulled into the story. Huge fan. I'd definitely do it again.
Loved the Barrymore!! The show, not so much. Lots of music, was not expecting that. Wanted to hear more story. First reading was off putting. Nothing to do with OGA. Just her giving her opinions. Not what I came to the show for.
An amazing immersive storytelling experience. My partner and I just moved the the Madison area and were so excited to see Old Gods was coming to town. I look forward to their next show, and return to Appalachia.
