I hate that I can only give this review 4/5 stars. I have seen Ladytron a handful of times now over the last 17 years and they always put on a great show. The only reason I gave 4 starts this time was due to the fact that the music was so loud, that it drowned out most of the vocals throughout the night. This made it hard to really enjoy the music experience. Also, as a side note, they had a giant screen on stage that plays various different images and animations. I remember them having this at their last show at the Neptune back in December of 2019, and it was a cool experience. However, this show I really had a hard time with the blinking and flashing animations. Normally I don’t experience dizziness or any kind of reactions when it comes to light shows or other animations on stage, but the show tonight I really had a hard time with the super fast blinking and flashing lights to the point that I had to keep looking away from the stage. I heard others comment in the crowd as well that it was pretty obnoxious. Normally with a review like this, I’d be prone to give 3 stars, or two if it was a band I didn’t like that well or care about, but because it’s Ladytron, I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a four star rating. Ladytron is an awesome band that makes great music. I can’t justify giving them any less than four stars considering their history of past performances and how great they truly are. One offs happen and they, like any band, are not exempt from that rule. Overall great show. Helen is still smoking hot as always!
