About Cincinnati Cyclones

Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center

The ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones play home games on the riverbank of Cincinnati's downtown. Accessible from both the Daniel Carter Beard and Taylor Southgate bridges, the Heritage Bank Center sports complex sits along the same drag as Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Reds (MLB) and Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) play, respectively. As the winter months approach each year, the Cyclones are a hot ticket, hosting one of the 25 other teams in the ECHL in the nearly 18,000-person arena.

Coach Matt Thomas' Cyclones team is always primed for competitive match-ups, with 14 straight winning seasons from 2006 to 2020. The team is the affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, with the 2020 squad led by veteran sharpshooter Jesse Schultz and captain Justin Vaive. If there's a signature to Cyclones games, it's the team's mascot, Twister, who checks in at "202 pounds of windblown muscle" and slides across the ice on his head during intermissions. And if you're feeling ambitious, Cyclones games are also known for the infamous "Beeramids," stacks of empty beer cans along the corners of the glass that grow as the game goes along (21+ fans only).

Cincinnati Cyclones History

While the Cincinnati Cyclones franchise bounced between ECHL and IHL in their early years, the current iteration of the team joined the ECHL in 2001 and won Kelly Cups in 2008 and 2010. The Cyclones are an affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, but have also been affiliated in the past with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks. The Canadiens era yielded perhaps the greatest Cyclone player of all time in David Desharnais, who before an illustrious career in Montreal, won the league MVP, Rookie of the Year and scoring titles en route to leading the Cyclones to the 2008 championship. In addition to their Kelly Cups, the Cyclones have won multiple conference championships and division crowns. The historic 2007-2008 team earned the record for the most successful ECHL season of all time, with 55 wins and 115 points.

Our seats were 3 ft away.

by Tylerpay13 on 1/30/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

I bought two tickets for this game. They were in Row C of section 122, seats 3 and 4. When I got to the game I learned that the seats were 3 ft apart and they seemed to be the only two seats in the arena like that. I couldn’t fully extend my arm and touch my girlfriend. We had to move to different seats and look over our shoulder the whole time to make sure no one was going to claim them. Horrible experience and I will not be using this service again anytime soon

Cyclones is a great winter activity

by vvtop on 1/22/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

I don't think it's fair that the star rating is based on the venue. US Bank Arena could certainly use a renovation, but that has nothing to do with the Cyclones. The Cincinnati Cyclones Friday night game was great fun. We took our 1-year-old son to get out of house and have some family fun. The Cyclones have done a great job in recent years of making the games very family friendly and fan interactive. We will definitely be back!

It’s evident lots of thought has gone into making the game family-friendly and fun for all. We enjoyed ourselves.

Always a Great Time with the Cincinnati Cyclones!

by CycleGirl1 on 1/15/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

It's always fun at a Cincinnati Cyclones hockey game. The venue is nice, seats are comfortable. All venue staff is very nice and professional. Food is hot and delicious (you need to get the Goetta Nachos!!). The Cyclones make the game fun with the music, games, contests, etc. Now if we can just get the team to want to win!

    $Dollar Night$

by MrzCozz on 1/9/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

The game was awesome. Our seat location was also great. The only issue was waiting in line for for food and drinks. Need more outlets or beer vendors. I did see one, but he never made it down our aisle.

    Never Again

by RRCL on 1/9/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

I'll never go again on Throw Back night. While it was a good game and the Teddy Bear throw was a wonderful cause, the arena was not staffed to handle the crowd. I waited 25 minutes to buy one bottle of water, and missed the Teddy Bear toss. The concession lines stretched from the counter to the back wall, making it difficult to walk from one side to the other. The $1 beer lines were 30 people deep. I would rather go without food or drink than wait in those lines. Also, they only had 4 - 6 entrance doors and the line to get inside was long and it was 14 degrees waiting outside.

    Fantastic Fun !!!!

by cowgirlcincy on 1/4/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

This was our first Cyclones game and we had a fabulous time. The crown interaction and participation they do is entertaining and fun and the game was exciting also. To top it all off being that the game was on New Years Eve they had a indoor fireworks show after the game. I was skeptical as to how that was going to turn out and turns out it was awesome! Not too loud and just a little smoke when it was done. Probably the best New Years Eve I have had in a long time. Thank you Cincinnati Cyclones for a great time.

    Cyclones New Years Eve

by Bartini on 1/4/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

I took 5 friends to the Cyclones game on New Years Eve, all of which were first timers to a hockey game. They all enjoyed it and so did I. The indoor fireworks were a first for me and I found them to be incredibly neat. I haven't had a bad experience at a Cyclones game yet. I would highly recommend.

Haven't been to a hockey game in forever. It was much fun and interactive. And the indoor firework display after the game was so cool. Can't wait to go again

    Great Game!

by 13AJ13 on 1/3/18U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

The game was amazing, and our seats were great given the lateness of purchasing them. The only issue we had was with the large amount of stairs for a member of our party with mobility issues. Will look into handicap seating areas next time we see a game. Go Cyclones!
