About Cincinnati Cyclones

Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center

The ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones play home games on the riverbank of Cincinnati's downtown. Accessible from both the Daniel Carter Beard and Taylor Southgate bridges, the Heritage Bank Center sports complex sits along the same drag as Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Reds (MLB) and Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) play, respectively. As the winter months approach each year, the Cyclones are a hot ticket, hosting one of the 25 other teams in the ECHL in the nearly 18,000-person arena.

Coach Matt Thomas' Cyclones team is always primed for competitive match-ups, with 14 straight winning seasons from 2006 to 2020. The team is the affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, with the 2020 squad led by veteran sharpshooter Jesse Schultz and captain Justin Vaive. If there's a signature to Cyclones games, it's the team's mascot, Twister, who checks in at "202 pounds of windblown muscle" and slides across the ice on his head during intermissions. And if you're feeling ambitious, Cyclones games are also known for the infamous "Beeramids," stacks of empty beer cans along the corners of the glass that grow as the game goes along (21+ fans only).

Cincinnati Cyclones History

While the Cincinnati Cyclones franchise bounced between ECHL and IHL in their early years, the current iteration of the team joined the ECHL in 2001 and won Kelly Cups in 2008 and 2010. The Cyclones are an affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, but have also been affiliated in the past with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks. The Canadiens era yielded perhaps the greatest Cyclone player of all time in David Desharnais, who before an illustrious career in Montreal, won the league MVP, Rookie of the Year and scoring titles en route to leading the Cyclones to the 2008 championship. In addition to their Kelly Cups, the Cyclones have won multiple conference championships and division crowns. The historic 2007-2008 team earned the record for the most successful ECHL season of all time, with 55 wins and 115 points.

    So much fun

by Katiegirl13 on 12/20/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Had not been to a cyclones game in forever. My son is a huge PJ Mask fan so we decided to take him to his first game. He loved meeting the characters! The picture taking opportunity was awesome. We then enjoyed the game. He loved the fire and he loved watching Twister and Porkchop. We had a great family night out! He did not ask to see the tablet until well into the 3rd period. He is 3 years old so for him to sit that long and just enjoy the experience was nice to see. We will definitely be planning to come to another game soon.

We had an awesome time at the U.S.Bank arena. The Cyclones played a hard high scoring game. It was very exciting to see the team play hard and give the fans something to cheer for.

    A Fun Game

by JulieMyDay on 12/18/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Watching the Cyclones was a really great experience. I was surprised that I was able to get second row seats by the blue line for only fifteen dollars! When I got there, I had a perfect view of the ice and was really excited to be so close to the glass when hocky players would slam into it. A lot of the game was very hype and I well enjoyed the music, events, and other little goings on. In addition to this, I went ahead and purchased the fan zam tickets for my father and myself, and I'd like to let anyone know beforehand that the fan zam isn't /actually/ a zamboni--it's a zamboni body with a car engine in it. In any case, I had a lot of fun watching the game, cheering my local hockey team on, and dancing around to the YMCA with my friends. If you enjoy hockey, good company, and fun times, I think the cost of the ticket is well worth it.

Took my daughter and three grands to see the Cyclones. Total cost for 5 good seats about the same as two tickets to see the pros. We were not disappointed. Great game, great promotion and a very enjoyable evening.

    $1 Beer Night

by TheChop on 11/26/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Game was fun. Arena needed more workers. Had to wait in line 20 minutes for a pretzel. The beer lines were even longer. Arena is too small for the larger crowds.

    Great Time

by JoeTheCapper on 4/4/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Tickets are reasonable. We went on fan appreciation night and with $1 beer and dogs the price was right. My daughter loved it, was her first time to a Cyclones game. It is a bit loud if you have very small children, but action packed and the fans are fantastic. The Reds and Bengals should go to a few of these games and maybe learn something

    Fun Atmosphere

by backmarker on 4/3/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

Although a "double A" minor league team in a large market, this is a great deal for a city that usually has to pay top dollar to see the pros. Only a scout can recognize the difference between these guys and the NHL players. The venue is very nice and there are plenty of concession choices. Check out the restaurant on the suite level. You'll think your big shot.

    Great night out

by Hoonit on 3/3/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

We had a great night out with friends. Lots of action and a win for the 'Clones! The arena needs some sprucing up but over all was clean and well lit.

    Turtle night

Should have promoted pictures opportunities more. I saw nothing promoted the entire night or on Facebook or the website. I loved the jerseys though.

Cincinnati Cyclones v. Indy Fuel : TMNT Night

by Grandma248 on 2/28/17U.S. Bank Arena - Cincinnati

This is a family event every year but this year it was not fun. We didn't get to see the turtles out on the ice or the great show they had last year 2016. We found lots of things were cut from the program. It was just another night at the hockey game. I will have to think really hard about keeping this a family event for 2018 as this is really a fun night for the adults and kids. However the new shirt were really nice for both teams. Please bring back the turtles playing hockey and the old show like 2016...2017 was a no hitter :-(
