The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.
Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.
The sound was awful, the band was only present physically, didn’t seem like they wanted to be there at all, played for exactly 60 minutes and done. I’ve seen them before and they were amazing. This show was a waste of time and money and will forever ruin my memories of seeing the Crowes.
The Ocean Casino and the Black Crowes totally knocked it outta the park!!!! It was such an awesome Fan Friendly Experience from Ticketing, Concessions, The Staff at the Venue, Seating, Sound - I mean Everything was Incredible!!!
Good time Rock and Roll Solid set Played all the hits
First of all the Black Crowes sounded awesome and we had a good time. The issue was that they only played for 64 minutes, the last four of which were the encore. then they basically said thanks and walked off the stage. Everyone sitting around us was dumbfounded and was asking what in the hell happened. my Question is - is this what they have done for every other concert they are playing on this tour, keeping it to an hour? if so, they should probably let people know. I am not sure i would have spent the money to travel 90 minutes and get a hotel room if I had known it was a 60-minute show.
Wife and I traveled over 5 hours to see the show. We bought the most expensive tickets. I am disabled and was not offered ADA seating. My walker was taken at the door. I fell!!! The fans right in front of me stood the entire show. We really never had a good look at the band. The show was very short!!!! Drove all that way for an hour and a half show. The lead singer did not introduce the band!! The music was VERY loud!! Too LOUD!!! Here comes the main part of this review. The music was Excellent!! Over the top!!
I love, love love the Crowes. They sounded great, great song selection, but only played an hour.
I was so excited for this concert after seeing them two years ago. The venue in Atlantic City was great, the music sounded good but imagine our disappointment after they played for 55 minutes, left the stage and came back for the encore and only played ONE song. We were shocked! The people sitting next to us said they've been following the tour and we definitely got cheated out of at least four songs. Although they sounded good, the show was not as good as it was in 2022 and for $100+ per ticket we definitely expected at least 90 minutes of music. Sad to say we will not be seeing them again after this experience.
Guys were jamming and everything sounded great until an hour went by and they left the stage to get ready for the encore. Played for 64 total minutes. Took me and my wife longer to drive to AC than watch the concert we paid for.
The Black Crowes were very good and the venue is first rate. But a 64 minute show? For full price? I’m not expecting a marathon but that was way too short.

Parking was horrible, wind creek was not able to handle the crowd of concert goers trying to get to the event center. Had to walk through the entire casino and outlet mall to get to the event center. Wind creek set up metal detectors in the outlet mall, creating a mass confusion of hundreds of people. Very frustrating and I could not enjoy myself. Also, I was not impressed with The Black Crows show.

The venue and “seating” is odd. Just open standing space like cattle. It sort of works but I didn’t love it. If you are short, it’s tough. As for the Crowes, I’ve seen them 3 times. They sounded good, but only played for 90 minutes with only one encore song. They also started off with way too many new songs. They are decent songs, but the set order was off. Once they got in to some of their hits, the energy picked up.
We were in the SRO section. The floor was so hard on our feet that we had to leave early. The volume was so loud and the acoustics so poor that it was nearly impossible to hear the vocals. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience.
Great energy, Great show. Played all their hits. They look like they never aged. Only complaint was the ringing in my ears for a day!
Have seen the Black Crows twice before as well as Richie and Chris solo. This was the best show I’ve seen so far. Thank you guys for putting your differences aside and playing for us fans. I hope tha like the Glimmer twins, kids are watching you play into your 80’s. Kudos to Wind Creek peeps a great crowd and staff. If there were more seats this gets 5 stars I’m too damn old to stand that long lol!
The show at Wind Creek Casino was fantastic! Ninety minutes from this band I’ve been following for nearly 35 years. So we were so excited to see them again the following night in Atlantic City. Unfortunately, we only got an hour long concert. Why? There is lots of chatter online that it’s the band’s decision or the casino…. My point really is that if a shortened concert is planned, ticket buyers should know that in advance. And that language should be front and center, not buried in some agreement legalese.
If given the opportunity, don’t miss a chance to see these guys. One killer song after another, and the new record they’re supporting is an instant classic. Chris is in great voice and Rich’s riffs are undeniable. Can’t recommend highly enough!
