The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.
Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.
Great show wished they would of down a bigger encore.
The Fillmore in Detroit was sold-out a week or so in advance and the place was packed. Energy from the crowd was growing for an hour before they hit the stage at 9pm sharp. Played for 95 minutes so a bit short for a band with their catalogue, but they seemed re-energized and the new band members were tight musicians who kept the place rocking. The standing room only crowd was overflowing and uncomfortable at a certain point where I had to remove myself and view the last half hour from the balcony which was very enjoyable. The sound in the venue was superb. Awesome that the Brothers are back on the road...as they are better together and seemed like they were having a good time.
Was a great show ! The new music was really good. And was nice to hear some old ones too. Been 10 years since I last seen the black crows. They sounded amazing and had a really good stage show. Played 90 minutes. The venue pillmore detroit seated 4000. Nice place ,nice atmosphere. Rock on đ¤
It was 420 and the Filmore rocked The Black Crowes were out of this world
Great crowd, majority of their music was geared towards the new album which is understandable as it was the Happiness Bastards tour. Concert was very energetic, great atmosphere, and kept you capsulated until the very end.
The Crowes did not let me down. Absolutely a definition of a Rock show. They came out and took care of business. Love this band and wish I could see them more. I know they don't get the reviews but I wish I could thank them. Kicked me in the soul in the best way possible.
We purchased the fast passes and they were completely unnecessary. Disappointed we spent an extra $50 for nothing.
90 minute set for $100. For a band with a huge catalog, they just play the same songs every show (plus a few replacement level new songs).
Filmore security needs to have common sense. I thought i left my jacket at merchandise table, approximately 100 ft away from where I was ,and security told me i couldn't go back in. Made no sense one of them could of came with me would of took 2 minutes. An abuse of authority by a bunch of kids dressed up as security. Sad,uncalled for. I've been to hundreds of concerts, many at the Filmore/State .
I've never had a bad experience at the Fillmore. The sight lines are great from everywhere, the sound is best in the middle sections, and the venue staff are very welcoming. The band was phenomenal! High energy, great setlist with a selection of older and newer songs from their catalogue, and the stage arrangement was simultaneously simple and elaborate while functionally adding some aesthetic depth to the evening's enjoyment. I will certainly be back to the Fillmore for as many future events as possible and look forward to seeing The Black Crowes again whenever that may be.
Killer performance by The Brothers Robinson and their merry band The Black Crowes! Great sound, stage set up and set list. Was concerned about the four people passing out around me on the floor and what seemed to be an over sold general admission area. Canât have that in this day and age. Next time, I will get Mezzanine seats.
Venue seemed oversold for main floor. There was no room to walk to the bar. This will be the last time I get main floor at this venue. There was no chance of finding your party again after visiting the bar. Aisles/stairs in middle section full of people that didnt move and stairs were not lit in middle section. It was a struggle to leave the main floor for anything. The Black Crowes rocked though. Bar staff was great too.
They sounded amazing.. the venue was super cool..Iâve never seen them live and Iâm so happy I was able to attend.
Awesome concert seen them before and their still great
I have no idea why such a great band is at such a small venue but I am glad they were. The Crowes were tight and sounded great.
The Black Crowes continue to provide a great show and play eclectic set lists. Even with the line up changes the Chicago show was fantastic.
Black Crowes bring it every time. However, if I am paying $100/ticket, I expect more than a 1.5 hour set. The Stones played for longer when they were 70! Disappointed at the shortness of the show.
A few people complained about length if show and set list but i loved it. 1 1/2 hours, play the hits and get on down the road. I donât need 3 hours of long guitar solos and blues jams. Chrisâ voice was off the charts great. Really amazing his his pipes are better than ever. If i had one complaint it was that they were buried in the mix a bit sometimes. I had never been to the Aragon before and really enjoyed it. Great room with a cool vibe and a ton of history.
Black Crowes played a great show mixing new and old songs together. One of the best rock shows I have seen.
I canât even guess how many times weâve gone to see a great band that Iâve loved forever and cringed when I heard the words âthis next song is from our new albumâ. Not so with the Black Crowes! Their new album, Happiness Bastards, is loaded with great new material and they rocked it (as well as a lot of old favorites) at the Fox in Oakland. We saw them at the Silver Legacy in Reno a couple years ago and I didnât think that show could be topped - this one did. Rich and Chris performed like they donât hate each other and the band and backing vocals sounded tight and clean. Theyâre definitely worth seeing. Go catch their show if you get the chance.
