Since premiering at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre in 2003, WICKED has been mesmerizing audiences and breaking records, becoming the second highest-grossing musical in Broadway history with over $1.4 billion in tickets sold. Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman’s magical “untold true story of the Witches of Oz” has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards — winning three — including Idina Menzel for Best Actress in a Musical as heroine Elphaba. With a captivating score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity” and “For Good,” the WICKED cast album won Best Musical Show Album at the 47th Grammy Awards, with Time magazine cheering, “If every musical had a brain, a heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.” In addition to Menzel, the star-studded original cast included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, Norbert Leo Butz as Fiyero, Joel Grey as the Wizard, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Christopher Fitzgerald as Boq, Michelle Federer as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond. WICKED is also the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history.

The Gershwin Theatre is located on 222 West 51st Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. There is no designated on-site parking. However, there are numerous parking options in the Broadway Theater District. Here's a link to a Google map display of the various options in the Times Square area.
Taxis can stop outside the theatre for drop off and pick up.
The Gershwin Theatre is close to the 50th Street subway stop. You can take the C, E and 1 lines to reach the stop.

The recommended age for children to see WICKED is eight and up, but the Gershwin Theatre welcomes patrons ages five and up. Children under the age of five will not be permitted into the theater. All patrons — regardless of age — must have a ticket.

My wife and I loved the show from start to finish. Great story line and acting. Should have gotten seats a few rows closer than "R" in orchestra since the cost was the same. But I was impressed by the $5 bottle of water.
We have seen 'Wicked' twice with the first time being in Chicago back in 2005. The Broadway version was fantastic and the theatre layout made it very easy to obtain a good view. The timing and singing was on point and I felt the orchestra nailed each song. A fun night out and our young daughter loved it.
The show was amazing, the seats were amazing, the theater was amazing! We had an incredible time!
The actors, stage, costumes were marvelous!! Our experience was topnotch. One complaint- the “ushers” outside the door were the rudest ppl that we encountered in NY. We were delighted to find, that once we got into the theater, everyone was professional.

We were travelling to New York for my 50th Birthday and wanted to see a Broadway show - we picked Wicked and didn't regret it at all!!!!! As it was a special birthday< we booked front row seats. What an amazing night it was. The show was awesome and the actors were amazing. So much so, my daughter cried at the end of it. She is in a drama group and could only dream of being on that stage. To top the night off, she found the Stage door and had lots of autographs from the actors and a photo taken with Jennifer Dinola - the understudy of Elphaba who was totally amazing. We so wanted to watch it again. It's a night we'll will never forget.
Third time traveling to NYC to see Wicked and each time is better than the last. The cast may change but they are all fantastic in their roles. Took some first time Broadway visitors this time and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We also love the Gershwin Theatre. Much roomier than other theaters . Thanks for a fantastic evening.

My tickets for Wicked were a 55th birthday from my 2 children. The show was phenomenal. One of the best I’ve ever seen. It makes you rethink what you believed you knew from the movie version of the Wizard of Oz. The costumes, lighting, sets and orchestration were above expectations. And to see it on Friday the 13th made it even better.
Last minute booking - front row. Awe-inspiring experience. Showmanship was amazing, story is timeless, stage and costumes were breathtaking, and the music.... (I am swooning....)
This production is amazing. Story well told with the perfect amount of singing and music. Congrats to all the cast members for an memorable night for us.
Amazing is all I can say. It was clever, funny, deep and had a great story line. The singing was absolutely amazing (like I said, all I can say is AMAZING!) and the dancing was as well. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Will definitely be going back at some point and seeing it again. Just make sure your re on time, because if you’re late, they won’t let you in for at least 10 minutes.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable show, cast, and theater. Not a single complaint. I would recommend it to everyone. We saw three shows, one show a night, three nights in a row, and this was by far the best in terms of sound and presentation. Most comfortable seats as well.
