Three Dog Night on Tour

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

Great show, great facility, great sound

by BigWaveDave on 3/13/24Goodyear Theater - Akron

Was a bit skeptical going to this show, but prefer live music to anything else, so wanted to see them locally. Smaller venue, but the facility was awesome. Sound was dead on, no boomy bass, clear vocals, mix was dialed in. Drums a bit hot but not overbearing. The lead vocals were fantastic given their age. Pretty amazing lineup of hit songs played over the last 57 years. All in all, great entertainment and the price was right. Easy parking(free), and the concession stand was very quick and efficient, and compared to most live music venues, the cost was very acceptable. Would recommend Goodyear Theater for live music, and would recommend going to see Three Dog Night if you get the chance.

    Nostalgic Fun

by Boomer Anne on 3/13/24Goodyear Theater - Akron

I thoroughly enjoyed this concert that took me back to my high school years listening to my Three Dog Night albums on the record player I bought with babysitting money. It was fun to sing along and amaze myself for the ability to remember all the words. Maybe my memory isn’t as bad as I thought! I highly recommend this memorable concert for all boomers!!!!

Great Show! So glad we went

by Eric Z on 3/13/24Goodyear Theater - Akron

The band sounded really good and for being in their mid 70s. KUDOS to them. They played all of their hits and a few new songs that were equally as good. Goodyear theater is a great venue and we'd go see them again there if they ever come back.

Nice retro concert, but too short

by Patio on 3/13/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

Here's an honest review... I attended the Three Dog Night concert March 2024. The concert overall great! Most of the TDN hits you love were performed, making you want to sing along with the band! However, there were a couple of songs that were weak. Remember, the front men are in their 70's and 80's. Considering that fact, they seemed to understand their limits and adapted songs minimally to compensate. I was disappointed in the length of the concert, which was an hour and 15 minutes. But 15 minutes of that was just talking on stage. If you're looking for a high energy show, this isn't it, Few people were up on their feet. Again, remember the ages of the band? Well, most of those that attended were in their 60's and 70's too. One additional note, be aware that only one founding member, Danny Hutton, is touring. With him is Paul Kingery, who has been with the band since the 80's. Overall, the show was great. But for a band who hasn't had a hit since the mid 70"s, the ticket was a little pricey for what you get.

    3 Dog Night

by Dave on 3/13/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

Great show and they didn’t even play all their hits. They may be older, but their voices are strong as ever. I wasn’t ready for it to end when they wrapped. A concert where I knew all the lyrics to almost every song and sang along joyfully because they were the songs from my life.

    Good show

by Boog on 3/13/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

I was OK with the show. 3 dog night are missing a few original members but the last two are getting older by the minute. They really gave everything they had but I kind of felt sorry for them! Nothing special but it was just OK

Great show, tough end of evening in garage!

by Rick B on 3/12/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

Three Dog Night played terrific music, and the opening act did a great job of setting the stage. Great improvisation by Three Dog Night to mitigate the effects of the shoulder injury with a talented fill-in relative on guitar! We truly enjoyed the performance! Unfortunately, when the fans who had parked in the Ohio Union North Garage returned to their vehicles, no one in charge had arranged to have the exit gates open. This delayed our departure from the concert for almost an hour. The failure to assign someone with keys to open the gates when everyone had already paid left one patron so frustrated, he took out tools and started to disassemble one of the gate arms.

    Poor Sound Mixing

by Kris on 3/12/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

The first album I bought was 3 Dog Nights, so I was very excited for the show. Unfortunately the sound mixing was off. The music overshadowed the vocals. It was still entertaining but I might have enjoyed it more with lower expectations.

by LKB116 on 3/12/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

Really nice to relive the great music from Three Dog Night. Wish the venue would serve soft drinks beside just water and alcohol . Ticket taking process could be easier too but overall a nice night.

    Disappointed

    Overall a good show

by DogWalker on 3/12/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

I would say that 80% of the show was truly enjoyable. The sound mixing seemed to vary from song to song, the worst song of the night was Eli’s coming, almost unrecognizable. Some other vocal flubs from time to time but still unbelievable for a band in their 70’s. The song “prayer of the children” had great harmony and was one of the highlights of the evening. I won’t review the horrible north parking garage by Mershon Auditorium. Overall a fun show and a blast from the musical past.

    Still Rockin'!!

by Mama Kath on 3/12/24Wexner Center Mershon Auditorium - Columbus

Three Dog Night performed all their greatest hits with voices and harmony still strong and destinctive. The audience, most with gray or white hair (including us), sang along to every song. They are releasing a new album in the near future and sang a beautiful song from it; it was great!! What a nostalgic and wonderful evening!
