Three Dog Night on Tour

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

  • Great night

by oldies but goodies on 9/30/25Pinewood Bowl Theater - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Pinewood Bowl is one of the best venues in Nebraska. The bathroom's setups were fine and I appreciated the washing stations. Even with all those port-a-pottys, the lines were very long. The security was very good and they handled the medical emergency very well. The people working in the drink stations were so nice. It was a perfect night of the year. It would have been nice though for the grass to have been cut. The tall grass was hard to walk in, tickled bare ankles, and likely made the bug problem worse. The ticketing process was very good. Entry process was also good. Lincoln and the Pinewood Bowl did a great job. Perfect night, too. We enjoyed the music with the exception of the fact that one young (20s) man who sat behind us yelled, sang, and screamed so loudly that we couldn't hear the music... luckily there were empty seats we could move to where we could sit by adults who knew how to respect that people were there to hear the band, not the people around them. The bands were good for their age. The prayer song by Three Dog Night sounded auto-tuned or taped. Still, it was a great moment of the concert. I came to hear Shambala and it was the one song where the performance didn't hold up too well. The rest of their performances were pretty good, again, for their age. We felt the same about LRB. They did pretty well. These older bands, one would think, should realize that people come to hear the songs they were famous for. We politely listen to their new songs, but it is not what we paid dearly to hear them play. Yet, the older I get the more I realize that if I want to hear great music, I'm better off just listening to the songs from my downloads. Concerts are for the experience and Pinewood Bowl makes the experience unique.

  • Checked off bucket list

by Freebs on 9/30/25Pinewood Bowl Theater - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

I was happy I was able to see them. They were one of my favorite groups growing up. They did not sound as good since they have lost two of their original three members but they brought back great memories.

  • Amazing talent, great show!

by Barista on 9/30/25Pinewood Bowl Theater - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Many of the people in our group said they'd forgotten how many great songs came from 3DN until they played them this evening. The whole show was great from start to finish. SIDE NOTE - The opening band was Little River Band and they were equally impressive. Their acapella 5 part harmony portion was simply amazing. I had never heard 5 voices blend so perfectly that it sounded like one instrument.

I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed TheLittle River Band and very disappointed at how Three Dog Night performed.

  • Sad and shameful

by 3 DEAD Night on 9/29/25Azura Amphitheater - Bonner SpringsRating: 1 out of 5

TDN was possibly the worst concert I've seen (heard) in decades. I realize that the Boomer Bands are aging quickly but why not get some young voices to help out since there was only one original member anyway? My bar is set fairly low for live shows but these guys were just terrible! The band was sub-standard and the vocals were simply terrible. I will enjoy many of those great songs forever but this was a money grab with minimal effort put forth; the fow of people heading to the parking lot looked like it does when a show is over. If, like me, you enjoy live music, find a young band or two because the boomer Bands are aging out quickly.

  • A wonderful night!

What a wonderful night of nostalgia. It is a great venue and the band did a fabulous job! Little River Band did a great job too! Thank you for such a good concert.

  • Loved Three Dog Night.

by Sue on 9/28/25The Fruit Yard Amphitheater - ModestoRating: 5 out of 5

It was nice to see that they didn’t try to hide their age. They’ve always been my favorite. I saw them at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds (CA) a couple of times, for free with Fair entrance, quite a few years ago. Altogether, it was nice, a little nostalgia for Three Dog Night.

  • Nice evening with the love of my life

  • not the greatest show....

by CKGKC on 9/28/25Azura Amphitheater - Bonner SpringsRating: 3 out of 5

I had been looking forward to seeing Little River Band and Three Dog Night and Little River Band was good and we enjoyed their performance. Then the headliner, Three Dog Night, came on. I do appreciated the advanced age of the 2 original members, but the show was just a let down unfortunately. People were leaving in the middle of them performing and to me there was just no energy to the show. I thought about leaving early too, but decided not to. I could've left early and not missed anything. Sad the performance was lacking, but gotta be honest, I would not pay to see them again.

  • LRB still can rock

by ws on 9/28/25Azura Amphitheater - Bonner SpringsRating: 3 out of 5

Little River Band opened for 3 dog night and did an outstanding job! Strong vocals and crowd interaction were excellent and left you wanting to hear more. The 3 Dog Night was the headliner but, las, should have been the opener. Weak vocals from a once strong group disappointed. The 3 leaders of the group may want to consider its time to consider slowing down from tours as father time is catching up to them. Sorry to say . We enjoyed 3 Dog Night 4-5 years ago and they were excellent then, but, time catches up to us all.

  • Show great! Venue- meh..

by kimmer on 9/28/25Azura Amphitheater - Bonner SpringsRating: 3 out of 5

The venue added additional rows in the front so I had 4th row was now in fact row six - which is not what the seat map showed at the time of purchase! I love the old "sandstone"amphitheater in Kansas City but they very much need to improve their selection of alcohol. Their new plastic seats down front are absolutely horrible!

  • Good Concert

  • Momma told me I should come!

by Brandy on 9/22/25First Security Amphitheater - Little RockRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was perfect for a fall concert! The view of downtown and the river added to the amazing sound from the stage. We were pleased with the concessions pricing and options offered. Little River Band and Three Dog Night performances were so enjoyable. They have such a variety of sounds and such uplifting messages with great harmonies. So happy we got the chance to see them.

  • Excellence

  • Relived Great Memories

by 504Nolagirl on 9/22/25First Security Amphitheater - Little RockRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands were GREAT! Would go again and recommend to others! Only problem, through no fault of bands, this venue needs to add on another restroom facility. This has always been a problem at this venue.
