Little River Band on Tour

"The Best Singing Band in the World" -- as proclaimed by the Eagles' Glenn Frey -- otherwise known as Australian pop-rock group Little River Band, has returned for a 2022 tour celebrating the release of their much-anticipated greatest hits collection, Black Tie. Known for their polished vocals and harmonizing soft-rock hits like 1978's "Reminiscing" and "Lady," Little River Band is a five-piece group that has sold more than 30 million records, and set the record in 1982 for having Top 10 hits in six consecutive years. Fans praise live performances from the Australian group for their vocal and musical energy, great arrangements and timeless classics. Each Little River Band show is sure to create lasting memories. Their new tour has more than 100 scheduled dates from Florida to Minnesota to Arizona and everywhere in between.

Little River Band in Concert

LRB formed in Melbourne in 1975 when lead singer Glenn Shorrock and guitarist Beeb Birtles merged their established success in previous ventures to cement their status in an already vibrant Australian rock scene. Current frontman and longest tenured member Wayne Nelson joined the band five years later as a bassist and vocalist. Nelson has contributed to 23 of Little River Band's studio album releases over 42 years, and many of their major hits, including "Take It Easy on Me," "The Night Owls" and "The Other Guy." Shorrock and Birtles left the group and briefly returned, contributing to a turnstile of rotating members coming and going that would plague the group for years. By 1998, no original members of LRB remained, and Nelson and Stephen Housden would claim legal rights to the band's name. In 2004 the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame inducted the 1976 lineup of Little River Band -- Graeham Goble, Glenn Shorrock, Beeb Birtles, Derek Pellicci, David Briggs, and George McArdle -- during a ceremony at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards. The band's latest release, Black Tie, is a passionate, energetic collection of live performances of the core group with an injection of spirit from the Craig Turley Rock Symphony. Current members of Little River Band include: Wayne Nelson, Chris Marion (keys), Bruce Wallace (guitar), Ryan Ricks (drums/percussion), and Colin Whinnery (guitar).

Little River Band was a little brief....

by HV on 5/7/24Crown Theatre - Fayetteville

Band started 15 minutes late and ended early to make up for it - 1 hr and 15 min total performance time. The younger guitarist had a cold, so perhaps the original band member was filling in and got tired, I cannot say. Overall the band sounded good, and we enjoyed the music selection though they seemed to struggle on vocals.

    Enjoyable

All real fans know this isnt the real LRB as BSG and Farnham arent part of this band. Wayne Nelson, who i consider an original LRB member even if he came in after most of the hits, leads a bunch of talented no name musicians on what is called the Little River Band It is what it is but with an awesome venue, small mostly over 60 crowd, there are still plenty of LRB fans who want to hear the old songs even if Wayne at 70 plus cant really sing and as much as they try they dont sound like what we know as LRB. However, age gets us all no matter how you see the members credibility its a fun almost 2 hour show done by Wayne and his bandmates who clearly love what they do and Wayne should be commended for keeping something going he was a part of when the other guys(get it, the other guy) decided not to carry on. My daughter and I enjoyed the show. She knew the songs and its important that this groups music continues to be played and it passed on to the next generation. Props to Wayne and the band for doing so and the environment seeing an older crowd at a place where the venues staff was great, combined with reasonable ticket prices, this is a show any old school LRB fan should go see. This is a legendary band that if they can find a new lead singer before Wayne hangs it up could keep going and hopefully Wayne stays out there playing the songs many of which he was a part of making and singing.

The Little River Band puts on a good show. A good amount of audience participation, a couple of new songs, and the band sat on stage after the show signing swag and chatting with fans
