Mizzou Tigers Football History

The University of Missouri put together its first football team in 1890, and the program enjoyed immediate success. They won a share of the Western Interstate University Football Association title in 1893,1894 and 1895. In 1907, Missouri joined what would later become the Big 12 Conference, and in the process formed heated rivalries with Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Iowa State.

Don Faurot led Missouri to two periods of success as Missouri's head football coach and athletic director, first from 1935-1942 and then from 1946-1956. They made multiple bowl games in that span. In 1972, the university honored Faurot by naming the playing surface at Memorial Stadium in his honor. Under Gary Pinkel, who coached the Tigers from 2001 to 2015, Missouri shared three Big 12 North titles and won two SEC East championships (2013 and 2014).

Missouri has had legends pass through the program, including Pro Football Hall of Famers tight end Kellen Winslow Sr. and cornerback Roger Wehrli.

The Tigers have won 15 conference titles, including 12 Big 8 championships.

    Tigers vs Bulldogs

by MsCookie74 on 9/26/18Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

We truly enjoyed the event and the staff was friendly and helpful. The traffic flow for parking was horrific....parking was in the University Hospital garage and cars were entering from 4 different directions to the same entry into the garage. There was no road traffic controller directing the flow to expedite the entry into the garage. The cost to park in the University Hospital garage was $30, the walk to Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium was not far.

They lost my ticket at will call

by BigAlBud on 9/5/17Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

They lost my ticket at will call. I was looking forward to the Missouri State versus MU game for a year and after fighting my way through the will call line the girl in the office and for me she could not find my ticket and I was forced to sit outside the Will call window for the first hour of the game while I looked up my ticket online and because I could only use my data and not a Wi-Fi connection it took an hour to finally log in to Ticketmaster to get a copy of my ticket it totally ruined the game for me I was extremely upset. I missed 40 points scored in the game before the girl finally found a no-show ticket so that I could get into the game. What a nightmare!

    MU

by MrsRaymondUR on 10/29/16Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

The seats were good, we could see the whole field. The game kept you on edge till the end because it was a close game. Sadly, MU lost. The stadium is a nice big size. You could hear and see the monitor clearly.

    Don't Buy A Parking Pass

by Notafanatallever on 11/20/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

Do not buy a parking pass for Arrowhead stadium. We paid $30 for a parking pass and were parked in a lot the furthest from the stadium. To make it worse, there was no one at this game due to the unrest and brief player's strike at Mizzou so no idea why they couldn't park us closer to the stadium even WITHOUT a $30 parking pass. Game was not well attended. Paid $85 for tickets in the upper deck and less then half the seats were filled. In the future they should use dynamic pricing. Those tickets shouldn't have been more than $35. It's too bad the player's didn't strike through this game. I would like to have gotten all my money back for this one.

    Overall happy with experience.

by 2door on 11/18/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

Aroowhead staff were friendly and courteous. Atmosphere was good - but not as good as when MU played KU in years past!! Was disappointed in the lack of discipline on the part of Mizzou players causing stupid penalties and nullified touchdowns. Parking was EXPENSIVE!

    Tigers vs. Cougars

by Kids1stTime on 11/17/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

The game was great and the fans from both sides were friendly towards each other, which is something you don't always find. This was the first time for my 9 and 10 year old boys to attend a college game and the whole family enjoyed the experience. The seats we had were on row 36 which is 7 rows from the top of the stadium on the east side. You can see everything, but plan ahead as there are a lot of stairs to climb up and down to get refreshments and to go to the restroom.

tigers - coach and players united

by gokcsoccer on 11/17/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

although not the best playing, the tigers provided an entertaining game and BYU made it exciting. Arrowhead needs to put more effort into being a college venue. seats are more comfortable than in Columbia and they served beer. it would have helped the college feel if the fans of the two teams were better seperated.

    Arrowhead Parking Sucks

by frustrated53 on 11/17/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

We paid $50 to park in the gold level parking. The parking lot ushers didn't want to let us thru to that level. We had to ignore them to make our way to parking level we paid for. There were no signs directing to that level or even the correct gate. For what you pay to park your car in a lot that has more than paid for itself over the years directions and ushers should be better marked and informed. The prices of food at Arrowhead are highway robbery. There is no way it cost that much to operate one of those stands. 2 cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 cokes were $44.00 add that to $50 parking and $65 each for tickets and i'll be staying home for the next game. Honestly a beer was $9.75. I can have a six pack at home and not wait in line for the toilet.

Great game, poor logistics for entry

by NurseMary on 11/17/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

As always the game was fine, concessions lines were reasonable etc. However, there were only 2 gates open at arrowhead to get in, the line was so long at each gate that it backed up to the other line. It look nearly 45 minutes to get through, we missed kick off. With a bunch of drunk college students fighting to get in it was quite unenjoyable.

    by MUfan1 on 11/25/12Faurot Field - Columbia

The game was awesome, and they fought all the way up till the end. Tips, if you want to tail gate remember you can't set up until 8 am the day of the game. The tiger shuttles are there but we couldn't find them. So we parked at the VA hospital. They open their parking lots up, and its not really as bad as we thought it was going to be in order to leave. Do bring something to sit on once you are there, because those benches get rough after about 30 minutes. If you are going in colder weather like we did, then make sure you bring a blanket! We didn't, but luckily someone in our group shared theirs. Totally worth it. Make sure you get there early too. We missed kick off and we had to make other people get out of our seats. They slowly tricked down into ours.

    Awesome College Football Experience!

by NYTigerFan on 11/19/12Faurot Field - Columbia

There was a chill in the air and it was a perfect night to watch football. The band sounded awesome, the fans were loud and the game was close. Plus military paratroopers parachuted in and landed on the field during half time! It would have been perfect if the Missouri Tigers had won, but it was a battle until the end and we had a great time.

College Football at Faurot Field is Great

by treadsowell on 10/11/12Faurot Field - Columbia

College Football at Faurot Field is Great even when Mizzou loses. The only complaint is too much advertising in the stadium for a college football stadium.

    Great Game

by Jerryca on 9/18/12Faurot Field - Columbia

It was an unfortunate thriller! Mizzou had the opportunity to put ASU away, but could NOT close the deal. ASU (with the help of some questionable calls rom the officials) scored in the final minutes to make the hgame close. Mizzou had an outstanding goal line defense that prevented ASU from taking the lead in the final seconds!!
