Mizzou Tigers Football History
The University of Missouri put together its first football team in 1890, and the program enjoyed immediate success. They won a share of the Western Interstate University Football Association title in 1893,1894 and 1895. In 1907, Missouri joined what would later become the Big 12 Conference, and in the process formed heated rivalries with Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Iowa State.
Don Faurot led Missouri to two periods of success as Missouri's head football coach and athletic director, first from 1935-1942 and then from 1946-1956. They made multiple bowl games in that span. In 1972, the university honored Faurot by naming the playing surface at Memorial Stadium in his honor. Under Gary Pinkel, who coached the Tigers from 2001 to 2015, Missouri shared three Big 12 North titles and won two SEC East championships (2013 and 2014).
Missouri has had legends pass through the program, including Pro Football Hall of Famers tight end Kellen Winslow Sr. and cornerback Roger Wehrli.
The Tigers have won 15 conference titles, including 12 Big 8 championships.

Mizzou Tigers at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium
The Tigers play home games on Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium, which first opened in 1926 and currently seats 62,621. The stadium is known for "Rock M," a whitewashed stone "M" on the grass berm of the north end zone. The Tigers are coached by Eli Drinkwitz, who led Appalachian State to the 2019 Sun Belt Conference title in his one season with the Mountaineers, before replacing Barry Odom at Missouri between the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
The schedule for the Mizzou Tigers’ 2023 football season can be found on the team’s website here.
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Mizzou Tigers.
The Tigers play their football games at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium. It's located on the campus of the University of Missouri.
The place was packed. Sold out stadium. It was a great atmosphere and a lot of fun. No problems with the crowd and everyone was fun.
Great weather and great friends and food made for a great pre-game tail gating party. We had tickets on the hill which we were skeptical of...didn't think they would be comfortable but we loved them! We took a blanket and could stretch out. The view was good and it was a fun atmotshpere. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
This was my first time attending college football game. Ticketmaster shipped my tickets with no hassle or high service fees. Hill section has great seating if u get there early. Enjoyed the Mizzou win! The spirit in the stadium was contagious.
The atmosphere and energy at the Mizzou campus on game day is incredible. We had a great time, it is so fun to attend a game there, so many people tailgate and if you are from the area, you always know someone going to the game and can enjoy some refreshing beverages and food before the game. The stadium is beautiful-with the rock "M", it's two large screens to watch the plays and playback videos. The band is really good and a lot of fun to watch rock out during the game. The fans really get into the game and participate. Great time and I will be attending more in the future.
I was only offered the grass hill for available tix, then went on another site to find that they had tix available WITH SEATS. I was disappointed that I could not cancel at that point.
The game was great and the crowd really got into the game
Great game till the very end. The atmosphere was amazing.
Great upbeat atmosphere, nice weather. Worth the 2 hour drive!!! No smoking anywhere was inconvenient.
We enjoyed ourselves at the tailgating and game. We were disappointed that after paying $150 we were away from all the tailgating in lot R with Very few tailgaters. We felt like outcasts and would not spend that much money again to tailgate in lot R. My college sons friends did not show because we were where we were at. Last year in lot O we had about 60 friends and brought enough food for that many this year and needless to say, brought home far more than what was eaten.
Bleachers are numbered to get the absolute maximum number of people per bench. All of the people in my row were average size. I don't believe there would be enough room for several big people.
Great seats, great weather, great game! The game was one that had little promise with our QB out for the game and a Freshman in his place. The team rallied - the defense was strong and forced numerous turnovers and MIZZOU wins. The Freshman is not ready for primetime, but he will get there.
The new facility (face lift) was great! But what's with "you can't leave the stadium and then re-enter"??? Supposedly, it's a SEC rule. Another great thing we inherited from being in the SEC. Absolutly no place for smokers to go. I'm not a smoker, but some in our group are. A compromise needs to be reached!
I was very impressed with the atmosphere and enthusiasm of the crowd. I rarely get back to games, living in Colorado, so it was a special treat for me and my son.
Was raining in 2nd quarter and from there on! but overall game was awesome Mizzou won by a huge margin
This was so neat to experience! Would do this again!
Always enjoy seeing Mizzou play and was excited to be there for the first SEC game. Was really hoping for a better match up...we ended up leaving in the 3rd quarter, after Mizzou reached 40 points. Got to spend the day with my college age children so the day was worth it all in all. Can't wait for the rest of the season...Go MIZZOU!!
Overall, great experience. Tickets were easy d/t just printed them off Ticketmaster.com right after ordering them. MU team gave quite a show, even with the rain. Most surprising was that for the first time I noticed how hard the Missouri Marching Band works. They remained standing the entire game plus played every few minutes, even during the rain! Getting into & out of the stadium was also easy d/t people stationed at every intersection, entrance & inside stadium walkway! Only downside was the crowd had to maneuver around tailgaters tent poles, ice-chest, lawn chairs, open vehicle doors,... when walking close to the stadium (within ? 20 feet of the entrance gate)!
Great game, seats behind Marching Mizzou were awesome!
The Tigers played a great game. It is always a good experience at Farot Field.
Great game! We are definitely getting season tickets next year.
