Mizzou Tigers Football History

The University of Missouri put together its first football team in 1890, and the program enjoyed immediate success. They won a share of the Western Interstate University Football Association title in 1893,1894 and 1895. In 1907, Missouri joined what would later become the Big 12 Conference, and in the process formed heated rivalries with Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Iowa State.

Don Faurot led Missouri to two periods of success as Missouri's head football coach and athletic director, first from 1935-1942 and then from 1946-1956. They made multiple bowl games in that span. In 1972, the university honored Faurot by naming the playing surface at Memorial Stadium in his honor. Under Gary Pinkel, who coached the Tigers from 2001 to 2015, Missouri shared three Big 12 North titles and won two SEC East championships (2013 and 2014).

Missouri has had legends pass through the program, including Pro Football Hall of Famers tight end Kellen Winslow Sr. and cornerback Roger Wehrli.

The Tigers have won 15 conference titles, including 12 Big 8 championships.

    Venue needs work

by Venue needs work on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

The game itself was great, however the concessions and building staff needed lots of help, there was only one concession stand open on the upper level causing long lines and missing the whole second quarter. There was a dead bird in the stairwell. There needed to be more people directing traffic when leaving especially around the escalators. There could have been some serious injuries because too many people were trying to merge into the next escalator down causing bottlenecks at the escalator coming from the higher floors. No where to go some people were getting squished into each other.

    Horrible Venue for Football

by bcdmem on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

This venue was awful. Field looked ridiculous. Seating area was uncleaned and untouched. Concession choices were limited and were understaffed. Section markings were also limited.

Overall Good but just missed in certain areas

by DSS1986 on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Overall the experience was good. Crowd was better than expected. Entrance into the facility was smooth, better than most. Concessions options were below average with long waits. They ran out of cold beer on the club level before half-time. With it being a Mizzou home-game, I would have liked to have seen more Mizzou signage in the bowl. Corporate activation was limited as well. Would love to see this done at Busch next go around.

    Great game. No food.

by Linden on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Game was great but the concession stand ran out of food in the second quarter of the game witch was a big bummer after standing in line for 30 minutes to be told they are out of your first 4 options.

Mizzou won, good crowd, but the Dome needs an upgrade. It is dirty, turf is old and dangerous..

    TOO LOUD

    by K8 on 9/18/23

We’ve been complaining about the PA system since the South End Zone reopened. No one seems to care. Until the HP Officer radioed someone and it was turned down to a tolerable level. The University has a Marching Band. Why do we need a DJ to blast music? I’m going to approach another subject. Age discrimination. You want to do electronic tickets, fine. Charging me $20 extra for paper tickets is ridiculous. I don’t want to deal with barcodes and scanners that don’t always work! And $20 more for paper parking passes is beyond ridiculous. I’m sure that works fine for people that arrive on game day, scan themselves in and are set for the day. It’s really not working in the RV lot. Someone, please make sure that our pretty little AD knows what is happening in Truman’s Landing. There are some unhappy big donors in the lot.

    Event staff bad experience

    by Steve on 9/17/23

Went to grab a soda for my son and I after using the restroom, as they are all inclusive according to our ticket and wristbands. Grabbed two, and the vender rudely said we could not take any. Other than that great Mizzou win.

Great Tiger win! Poor coaching decisions.

by Disappointed in mediocrity on 9/16/23

It is always great to see the Tigers win! Beating a ranked team is even better!! Continuing lack of support from the event staff is a problem. The staff are often self absorbed and unhelpful. This is especially impactful when entering the stadium. Plus, we were extremely fortunate to win. We had numerous penalties reflecting lack of adequate preparation/poor coaching. Multiple penalties for delay of game in critical situations could have cost us the game. Mevis bailed us out with a 61 yd. FG. Coach Drinkwitz’s teams lack consistency. Under Drinkwitz the Tigers tend to be complacent when playing less capable teams. To retain his job Drinkwitz must win a minimum of 8 games this year. 6 wins a year is the definition of mediocrity in the SEC.

Great game…event staff not as great

by Amanda L. on 11/8/22Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

I had 2nd row tickets for myself and my teens who were so excited to attend their first college football game. Some other people were in our seats and wouldn’t move. An event staff member told us to just sit in the empty seats next to them…which meant 4 of us SQUEEZING into 3 seats then the people in the wrong seats were talking rudely to my teens. Event staff didn’t help. Eventually the people whose seats we were in arrived and told the people they had to move but it seemed like the event staff should have assisted when it was first a challenge.

    Getting worse every year.

    by Esv on 9/2/22

The football just keeps getting worse. Having all the drunks spilling beer on you. All they want is the money. Really said was so much fun for many years.

    MIZZOU

by Scooter Young on 10/4/21Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

They could have played better!! The game was fun for my 7 year old daughter. We wish the playground floats were up after the game was over. We sat on the field and she was able to run around and have fun on the M shaped rocks.

    Mizzou Football

by t-mom on 10/16/19Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

I have little experience buying tickets to assorted events because my husband usually buys them. I was fortunate to have a Mizzou student that is a co-worker help me with my ticket purchase. I very much appreciated the updates and reminders sent to me about my event. it was very convenient to have a mobile ticket. I used Ticketmaster because of their reputation for having legitimate tickets in a protected environment. I like the feeling of security it gave me. I will definitely use Ticketmaster again for my next event .

    Excellent

by Bryan on 9/24/19Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium - Columbia

Great sight lines. Lots of room. Easy in and out. Only downside is the beer is $9 each...which is a typical price...but it’s half foam
