WELCOME TO LA CAGE AUX FOLLES!

Winner of three 2010 Tony Awards® including the award for BEST MUSICAL REVIVAL, this hilarious new production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES was the biggest hit of the 2010 Broadway season, leaving audiences in stitches night after night!

LA CAGE  starring George Hamilton and Christopher Sieber tells the story of Georges (George Hamilton), the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin (Christopher Sieber), who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When Georges' son brings his fiancée's conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly! LA CAGE is a tuneful and touching tale of one family's struggle to stay together... stay fabulous... and above all else, stay true to themselves!

With a glorious score of hummable melodies and a dynamite cast featuring the "notorious and dangerous Cagelles," LA CAGE is an indisputable musical comedy classic... and this extraordinary new version shows you why!

Christopher Sieber YES ~ George Hamilton NOOOOO!

by Bruce822 on 12/30/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I went with a group of seven and we all agreed, the play is cute but George Hamilton should stick to guest appearances on random TV shows. He can't sing, he can't dance and he could barely act. We couldn't figure out why anyone would cast him until we noticed in the playbill that George Hamilton Productions, Inc was involved in producing the show. The rest of the cast did a great job of caring him and made the show worth seeing. Christopher Sieber as Albin was brilliant as expected and the "Les Cagelles" were fun, talented and hot :-)

Great score but George Hamilton was miscast--was pleasant, but bland and stiff, plus not credible as a gay.

This show is a must for everyone to see!

We were not sure what to expect, not knowing any of background of the show. We ordered tickets as a Christmas event only. What a gift to ourselves! This show was funny, well thought out and the actors were outstanding! We have grown up with George Hamilton as a well-known name, but more for his looks and demeanor than his acting ability. I can say that view has changed - he was funny and a perfect lead! Chris Sieber was outstanding in his role - we had no knowledge of him, but will watch for him now in future events! All in all, an evening well worth the expense!

    Good show

Good show, not great. Some parts were a little cheesy. George Hamilton's voice sounded very faint.

    Had a GREAT Time.

by RCLMAN on 12/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I highly recommend this show. 5 stars for the acting, comedic timing, singing, and overall presentation. The only reason I gave this 4 stars was for George Hamilton. He did an ok job but he looked like he was in pain moving around the stage. I hate to say it but he may be a little too old for the part. The one actor that stood out to me was Christopher Seiben(sp?) who played Albin. He stole the show and has amazing comedic timing. I would go see this show again just for him.

    LA CAGE WORTHWHILE

by CRITICALTHEATERGOER on 12/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The production was generally good, but there were lapses. Christopher Sieber was astonishing and the supporting cast, for the most part, was good to excellent. George Hamilton was charming, but isn't really up to the acting and singing challenge. Still, overall a very enjoyable evening and we're glad we went.

La Cage lived up to the expectation.

by Sillysinger on 12/28/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Opening "hostess" really helped to set the mood for the event to follow. Was affective in engaging the audience, and setting the stage for the subject matter, in case one didn't know what the play was about. Only complaint, while George Hamilton did and okay job we felt he seemed a bit "weak" in his slower movements and slightly weaker voice. He pulled it off, but I think the role really needs a character with a bit more vigor. Jacob's role was a bit over the top, there was enough comic relief that he didn't need to be so vocal. Over all it was an enjoyable evening.

A fun evening, but fell short of great

by REBEvanston on 12/28/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The score is still wonderful, and Christopher Siebers is just terrific. Nothing negative you can say except that it seemed he often had to play smaller and slower to not upstage George Hamilton, who can't act or dance. As my 21 year old said, most lines were the equivalent of him yelling out "I'm acting now!" Too bad Siebers had to tone down his tremendous talent to keep the two characters more evenly matched. The "showgirls" are awesome. Incredibly talented dancers, lots of personality, and looked as if they were having a great time (and If they aren't, that's how good their acting is.) The staging is good except for one part of the the restaurant scene in the second act, when Albin is singing but not on the stage for quite a long time; from the mezzanine you don't see him at all, and you're just watching the other characters watching him. (I presume the character is visible from orchestra seats.) I'd recommend seeing the play because it's a classic and the songs are as wonderful as they were when the show opened. Fabulous to see it in 2011, with openly gay and lesbian theatre-goers (and my family members). I had forgotten how different the atmosphere was when I saw it originally in NYC in the 80's. Fortunately, it's barely political now; mostly a nice family musical comedy.

A feel good musical. Dancing and acrobatics not to be missed. I had the "best of times" and left the theater signing as did a lot of patrons. George Hamilton was surprising and still has it.

Christopher Sieber was very good, but to be honest, George Hamilton cannot act, or sign , or dance.
