About

Christopher Edwin Lonny Breaux was born in California in 1987 but moved with his family to New Orleans when he was still a child. Hurricane Katrina destroyed his plans to study at university in New Orleans and he transferred to the University of Louisiana before heading to LA to pursue his dreams of making it in the music business. Changing his name to Frank Ocean, he began writing songs for Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Brandy and John Legend. He joined Odd Future as part of their hip-hop collective before signing to the Def Jam record label and producing a mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, which brought him widespread critical acclaim and led to collaborations with Kanye West and Jay Z.
2011 was a significant year in the career of Frank Ocean. Apart from the release of Nostalgia, Ultra he worked with Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator on his Goblin album. His first single “Novocaine” was well-received by both critics and fans, reaching the number 82 slot in the Billboard Hot 100, number 17 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts and number six on the Heatseekers Songs Charts. His follow-up single “Swim Good” reached number 70 in the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts. Later in the same year he co-wrote and performed on two tracks for Watch The Throne, a collaborative album between Kanye West and Jay Z. This was also the year he featured in his first major live appearance, performing with Odd Future at Coachella Festival followed by a short tour in the United States.
Frank Ocean released his first studio album, channel ORANGE, in July 2012, with critics immediately declaring it to be a significant development in the R&B sound. His first single from the album, “Thinking Bout You” reached No. 32 in the US Billboard Hot 100. He has received attention and praise for the lyrical content of his songs which address emotional dilemmas and substance abuse in a touching and sensitive manner. He has been quoted as saying that he writes stories which he sets to music, often in an unconventional way.
A tour in 2012 to promote the channel ORANGE album featured appearances at festivals including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Further touring in 2013 included sets at the New Orleans Jazz Fest followed by his You're Not Dead tour of Europe and Canada which featured gigs in London and Dublin. In the same year he collaborated on productions by Kanye West, Jay Z and John Mayer.

You don't even have to be a big fan of Frank Ocean to have a good time, but if you appreciate music you'll have a good time. His band is just amazing and he is incredibly humble.

    Frank Ocean was amazing!

by JMMNYC on 7/30/12Terminal 5 - New York

Of course Frank Ocean was going to put together a great show. If you're going to see an act at Terminal 5, the best place to watch the fun (if you don't want to sweat) is on the second floor.

    Frank Ocean is Amazing

by Abstrakt on 7/28/12Terminal 5 - New York

Frank simply makes you feel so comfortable with your surroundings that you completely forget where you are and feel as if he is singing directly to you. This inevitably makes you just shout out every possible lyric you know to follow along. His voice is amazing and the next lyric reaches deeper than the one prior. Just a heart wrenching time which i would gladly pay more and wait another 4 hrs on my feet to feel it again.

I think the show was amazing. Frank Ocean really had the crowd in the palm of his hands; his performance was one of the best I've ever seen.

The venue was clean and the organization to get inside was great. The audience was respectable and everyone was patient. Frank Ocean was of course amazing as always and I would definitely come to this venue again to see him or any other musical act. The only thing that bummed me out was that Ticketmaster had issued Doors at 7pm and Concert starting at 8pm, not 9pm. The hour wait was kind of grueling, considering I'm not 21 and couldn't have a drink to pass the time. I would hope that for future reference to have the correct time set up on the website.

Frank Ocean is a true performer!

by JairoAlmonte on 7/28/12Terminal 5 - New York

This show was more than I can ask for, as it being my first concert and from one of my favorite artists. Frank performed all of his songs to perfection, just as good or even better than his studio quality. And in addition the crowd was just great and made it really fun to get involved with the singing, it created an amazing energy. Can't wait until Frank Ocean performs in NYC again, he is a must see.

I wish their were meet & greet VIP tickets that's the only bad thing about the concert other than that it was a wonderful show
