About

Christopher Edwin Lonny Breaux was born in California in 1987 but moved with his family to New Orleans when he was still a child. Hurricane Katrina destroyed his plans to study at university in New Orleans and he transferred to the University of Louisiana before heading to LA to pursue his dreams of making it in the music business. Changing his name to Frank Ocean, he began writing songs for Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Brandy and John Legend. He joined Odd Future as part of their hip-hop collective before signing to the Def Jam record label and producing a mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, which brought him widespread critical acclaim and led to collaborations with Kanye West and Jay Z.
2011 was a significant year in the career of Frank Ocean. Apart from the release of Nostalgia, Ultra he worked with Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator on his Goblin album. His first single “Novocaine” was well-received by both critics and fans, reaching the number 82 slot in the Billboard Hot 100, number 17 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts and number six on the Heatseekers Songs Charts. His follow-up single “Swim Good” reached number 70 in the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts. Later in the same year he co-wrote and performed on two tracks for Watch The Throne, a collaborative album between Kanye West and Jay Z. This was also the year he featured in his first major live appearance, performing with Odd Future at Coachella Festival followed by a short tour in the United States.
Frank Ocean released his first studio album, channel ORANGE, in July 2012, with critics immediately declaring it to be a significant development in the R&B sound. His first single from the album, “Thinking Bout You” reached No. 32 in the US Billboard Hot 100. He has received attention and praise for the lyrical content of his songs which address emotional dilemmas and substance abuse in a touching and sensitive manner. He has been quoted as saying that he writes stories which he sets to music, often in an unconventional way.
A tour in 2012 to promote the channel ORANGE album featured appearances at festivals including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Further touring in 2013 included sets at the New Orleans Jazz Fest followed by his You're Not Dead tour of Europe and Canada which featured gigs in London and Dublin. In the same year he collaborated on productions by Kanye West, Jay Z and John Mayer.

First I loved this venue. Three spacious floors and a full bar on each. Frank Ocean is so great live. Real vocals, great band, real passion. Everyone there sang all the songs, knowing each word. It was beautiful.

    by ChuckieD24 on 7/28/12Terminal 5 - New York

I definitely loved hearing this man perform live. It was great and he did not miss a note. He is extremely talented and if you are a Frankie O fan you should def see him :-) I gave it 4 instead of 5 because the wait time was longer than the concert. (Doors opened at 7 show started a 9 and end at 10:15 lol). And he did not perform Pink Matter ;) Frank Ocean you did a GREAT job. This dude is going places!!

    Mr. Ocean didn't disappoint!

by BriaBreaux on 7/26/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Mindblowingly good live, he sounded great. I had already seen videos on youtube of his live performances and had even found the set list beforehand so I knew what to expect, but he still exceeded my expectations. He did a great job being interactive with the crowd. Everyone had a great time.

    Intimate Environment, and Fantastic Performance

by johnratl on 7/25/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Frank Ocean was absolutely fantastic. Because of the size of the venue and type of crowd, there ended up being a very intimate feelings. People were familiar with both of his albums, many of his tracks, and it had a unique vibe not felt at other concerts.

The venue was SOLD OUT. I did hate the parking after math, but the venue was not too hot considering that everyone was crowded. I enjoyed the sound quality of the speakers and Frank Ocean was an experience to remember.

Honest performance, Frank sang his heart out

by frizzygirl on 7/25/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Overall the event was good. Most of the audience were under 25, and were screaming a lot...but other than that the venue was perfect, it was more intimate, and Frank Ocean gave us a great performance from start to finish. It started and ended on time, and I would definitely go see Frank Ocean perform again.

    Musical genius

by Anonymous on 7/25/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Show was incredible. Frank is extremely talented and his voice is perfect. The venue was small and private. I drove from Orlando and I was first in line and waited about 8 hours for the doors to open and the wait was definitely worth it. I got amazing photos and videos of franks performance along with his bands performance. Seeing franks passion behind the music he sang and how he was enjoying the audience was heart warming. So happy I was able to be apart of his first tour and that I was as close as I could be.
