About

Christopher Edwin Lonny Breaux was born in California in 1987 but moved with his family to New Orleans when he was still a child. Hurricane Katrina destroyed his plans to study at university in New Orleans and he transferred to the University of Louisiana before heading to LA to pursue his dreams of making it in the music business. Changing his name to Frank Ocean, he began writing songs for Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Brandy and John Legend. He joined Odd Future as part of their hip-hop collective before signing to the Def Jam record label and producing a mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, which brought him widespread critical acclaim and led to collaborations with Kanye West and Jay Z.
2011 was a significant year in the career of Frank Ocean. Apart from the release of Nostalgia, Ultra he worked with Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator on his Goblin album. His first single “Novocaine” was well-received by both critics and fans, reaching the number 82 slot in the Billboard Hot 100, number 17 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts and number six on the Heatseekers Songs Charts. His follow-up single “Swim Good” reached number 70 in the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts. Later in the same year he co-wrote and performed on two tracks for Watch The Throne, a collaborative album between Kanye West and Jay Z. This was also the year he featured in his first major live appearance, performing with Odd Future at Coachella Festival followed by a short tour in the United States.
Frank Ocean released his first studio album, channel ORANGE, in July 2012, with critics immediately declaring it to be a significant development in the R&B sound. His first single from the album, “Thinking Bout You” reached No. 32 in the US Billboard Hot 100. He has received attention and praise for the lyrical content of his songs which address emotional dilemmas and substance abuse in a touching and sensitive manner. He has been quoted as saying that he writes stories which he sets to music, often in an unconventional way.
A tour in 2012 to promote the channel ORANGE album featured appearances at festivals including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Further touring in 2013 included sets at the New Orleans Jazz Fest followed by his You're Not Dead tour of Europe and Canada which featured gigs in London and Dublin. In the same year he collaborated on productions by Kanye West, Jay Z and John Mayer.

The show was okay. Straight to the point no frills or thrills. Very short show but for $35 I got what I paid for.I gave 5 stars because I like Frank Ocean and the simplicity suits him.

    Game Changer

by Jashea on 7/24/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This concert was so live! i had so much fun dancing and singing my heart out. His vocals were amazing! I brought my ticket before this talented man set himself free to us all with the news. But it truly made me enjoy that day, and concert much more. I felt that his voice live on stage was way better than any recording could capture. i just really respect him, im not in the LGBT community but i do respect his honesty, and talent. i do feel the show was short, but it only makes me want more. Any time Frank Ocean comes to Atlanta i will be there.

    Frank Delivers

by NoTiQ on 7/24/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Frank sung incredibly well for someone who doesn't have much solo experience performing. The theatre, shaped somewhat like a half dome ensured everyone a great view. The show was pretty intimate and the crowd was extremely in tune and involved.

The Frank Ocean concert was beyond amazing!! I waited in line in the rain to see him and I will have to say it was sooooo worth it. While standing in line I was offered $400 for my ticket and I declined the offer and I am so glad I did, because it was a performance you wouldn't have wanted to miss. I highly recommend him to EVERYONE! I was super close to the stage and captured great pictures and videos.

    A Remarkable Experience

by JeighEl on 7/24/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Frank Ocean's tour stop at Center Stage in Atlanta was a beautiful experience. I call it an experience because it was more than a show or a performance. It was an exquisite opportunity to step into the mind of a 24 year old genius with savvy wit and a humble presence. His playful and introverted mannerisms allow him to move effortlessly through his repertoire. He's continuing to grow as an artist and he's obviously found his voice in more ways than one.

    Simply Amazing!!

by VivaciousVellz on 11/30/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The concert was very personal because of the size of the place. He explained what was the inspiration behind many of his songs, which I found to be helpful. He made a few jokes. Overall, he is just a regular guy and that made me love him and his music more. I just hope fame doesn't change him.

i think the full on solo performance with nothing but the track playing gave him a glass ceiling.

This concert was one of the most intimate and memorable events I have ever attended. Frank Ocean before he becomes Frank Ocean. This is the beginning and I'm glad I got to be in attendance (along with Mos Def, Angie Martinez, Miss Info and a few other notables that were in the audience cheering Frank on). Wish I could see him perform again!

    I loved him !

by xosallyho on 11/29/11Bowery Ballroom - New York City

His voice was simply amazing, the way he performs his songs makes the lyrics come alive, his voice made me feel exactly how he felt when he wrote the song. His lyrics are amazing and I just loved him. The only thing I could change is for his performance to be a little longer lol.
