Chicago Fire FC History

The Chicago Fire became one of Major League Soccer’s first expansion teams when it joined ahead of the 1998 season. The Fire pulled off one of the most impressive inaugural seasons across American professional sports when the new squad, coached under Bob Bradley, secured an 11-game winning streak and made a surprise playoff run that culminated in an MLS Cup Final win against the two-time defending champions, D.C. United (where Bradley previously worked as an assistant). One week later, Chicago completed the double-header with their first U.S. Open Cup championship.

The Fire found further success in the early aughts with Bradley and his successor Dave Sarachan, who helped the team secure three more U.S. Open Cup victories in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In addition, the Fire earned the Supporters’ Shield in 2003. All-Star forward Mike Magee became the first player to win the MLS MVP Award while representing Chicago in 2013.

    Fire 'Til I Die

by caleb on 4/23/22Soldier Field - Chicago

This team is so bad when they don't have Shaqiri, having their biggest crowd yet, yet failed to have a real shot on target over 90 minutes. Yet, I'll keep coming back, because this Chicago team won't get anywhere without loyalty.

    Awesome

    by J. V. on 4/19/22Soldier Field - Chicago

My experience was pretty good! I only had an issue with ticket master and it was trying to enter soldier field parking lot. I took me like 15 minutes to enter because people on charge couldn’t find the way to let me enter because ( they said) the ticket was for the game and not for the parking, they were lazy and rude! After a while a supervisor came and let me enter saying that she had to write it in the computer.

    Ok, Not great

by Ian on 3/8/22Soldier Field - Chicago

Overall the GameDay experience was ok. There definitely were some pretty simple things missing that would have helped myself and my family have a significantly better experience. 1. Clearer signage for gate entries. Myself and about 2 dozen other people walked up towards the upper gate assuming that's where our ticket entrance was just to have a man at the closed gate send us all the way back down to the tunnel. PLEASE either block off those sections or have more clear signage indicating the ticket entrance. 2. GIANT VISIBLE "NO PURSES OR BAGS ALLOWED" SIGNS OUTSIDE THE STADIUM. A family member of mine was forced to go all the way back to a parking garage. She wasn't the only person I saw get sent back. Major difference if the parking was right next to the stadium, but it's extremely inconvenient to go all the way back. She missed the entire first half, just to return and have no security present upon her arrival making the whole thing meaningless. 3. Improved efficiency/staffing numbers for concession. At a kiosk with 6 registers and only about 7 people in line in front, it took about 30 minutes to the front. Having one person run register & get food makes things take a lot longer, and it didn't seem like there was much urgency. I understand maybe they were short staffed but the body language and speed of movement of the employees didn't make it seem any less related to the morale/expectation of the management. Back in Bridgeview (Toyota Park) the concessions took MAYBE 5 minutes, 10 MAX with less kiosks.

    People don't respect

by Garcia on 3/7/22Soldier Field - Chicago

Overall is a great experience but I try to buy tikets from specific section to have a great experience with my family but people don't respect that many people get on our seats I understand they want to see the players close but I think that's why we buy a ticket fot have the right to stay on that seat during the game I was frustrated with people blocking the view and hit my son to try to go close to the area when the players cone out ...

Ridiculous purse rule, and ridiculous wait for concessions

by Bill on 3/7/22Soldier Field - Chicago

The no-purse rule should be plastered everywhere, before and after ticket purchases. My daughter was not allowed entry and missed the entire first half, having to take her purse back to the car. The day after, we found the no-purse rule buried, but we also saw mention of lockers by the south entrance. We entered at the north entrance and the security people did not mention lockers were available on the south side. Thanks for nothing. The rule was also enforced inconsistently. We saw some people with the same purse allowed in. It's a stupid rule in any case. Just search the purse. Also the wait at concessions was really long. Slow service. Overall a pretty terrible experience.

by Jin on 10/26/21Soldier Field - Chicago

if I hadn't sprained my ankle while walking to Soldier Field.... I'm giving 5 stars anyway because I KNOW my son and husband would have had an amazing experience had I not injured myself.

    Toyota Park

by KWslm on 7/24/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Easy to get in and out of park. Short walk to seats, not a bad seat in the house. Game was awesome, no issues with fans.

Only complaint was that we had front row seats in the corner of field. The other side of the stadium was empty as no tickets were sold on the west side of toyota park. Unfortunately the entire second half our view was blocked by chicago fire substitute players warming up in front of our section. With the other side of the field empty, they could have easily warmed up there thereby not impeding the fans view. The game was exciting as the fire easily defeated louisville city fc. two more wins for the open cup!

    Perfect Soccer Venue!

    by msaj16 on 6/9/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

We are from Wisconsin and felt immediately welcomed by staff and fans alike. We have no MLS team to call our own, but after our experience with the Chicago Fire we have a home team! Great open air stadium that had good food, great fans, and lots of soccer cheers. Will be coming back soon.
