About

Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and  "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

    As expected

by Lil Buc on 4/19/24Petco Park - San Diego

He played a variety of songs, didn’t waste a lot of time talking, he got down to business. The weather could have been better, I believe he was freezing initially.

    Perfect Venue

by Sandi Castillo on 4/18/24Petco Park - San Diego

Of course the music was AWESOME. Billy Joel sounds the same today as in years past and the show itself was amazing. But the VENUE was just so great that it made the experience 100 times better. I had not yet been to Petco Park in San Diego, CA before this event and I was really impressed. It was very clean, organized, lots of helpful staff, easy to find your seat, bathrooms were everywhere (and clean and no lines) and the food was just amazing. Food choices were top notch and so many food choices available.

    One Night, Two Living Legends!

by KU on 4/18/24Petco Park - San Diego

Billy Joel + Sting on one billing = Phenomenal Musical Experience. I saw Billy over 30 years ago, so seeing him live again at beautiful Petco Park was breathtaking and nostalgic. He is still The Entertainer after all these years! Singing Piano Man with fellow BJ fans that packed the stadium was unreal. And for Sting, this was my first time seeing him live and he was also fantastic. His energy, coolness, and distinctive, powerful voice mesmerized the crowd. Having never seen The Police live, I consider myself blessed to have seen Sting perform. Overall, an amazing and unforgettable night.

    Billy Joel!

by EPTX888 on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

I've been listening to Billy Joel's music for years. So glad I got to see him live. He looks and sounds great! He also seems to have a great sense of humor and really engages the audience. Having Sting as the opening act was so cool. I had a lot of fun at this concert even though it rained, and I had to leave my seat to find shelter.

Epic night of icons, but age is a factor!

by Greydoggirl on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Tickets for Billy Joel and Sting were a birthday present for my son, and seeing these two legends with him, live at Petco Park was a big treat! The crowd was great, though I was surprised by how many were there more for Joel than Sting...I thought it would be more equal. Sting absolutely slayed it from a musicianship, performance and attitude perspective. His band was tight, both backup singers were amazing and showcased and the harmonica player? Fantastic! Sting was more relaxed and in better form than ever, and that's quite the accomplishment at 72. Billy Joel is always going to be a huge touchstone for me as I've loved him since I was a kid. But his age is really showing and affected his vocals and piano playing. So it was awesome and nostalgic, but also hard to see him getting older. I don't think he was helped along by weird low temperatures and a rain storm which could hardly have been expected in April in San Diego. I'm glad these two were together as that made it all worthwhile!

    Billy Joel/Sting

by Deborah on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

In spite of really terrible weather for San Diego, both performers did a stellar job! We saw TWO great concerts on Saturday…!!

Sting and Billy Joel both produced great performances.

by JoeB on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Enjoyed both performers. We sat on the Toyota Terrace along.the right field line. We could see the stage without a problem. The sound quality was a bit lacking in quality. I realize outdoor venues are more difficult to have great sound. This did not even hit the "good"level.

    Grand!

by Marty on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

The venue and concert were great! Regarding Billy Joel, I could barely hear his voice with so many wind instruments. All his songs were great!

    Parking Petco Pit

by pat on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

The only negative I have is ,Petco Park should have a designated area for Uber/Lyft drop off/pick up. Trying to get picked up by Uber was a nightmare. I think most people would not mind having to walk a bit to a designated area if it was going to be safer and easier. The concert itself was great. First time seeing Billy Joel and Sting. Ticket access was easy on the app.

Billy and Sting Still Have It!

by Concert Fan on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Two great artists, playing two great sets, clearly being themselves and having FUN on stage - which we feel in the crowd! They still can put on a Great show, bring great artists with them (and include them in the show as well!). Hard to know it will be the last time I'll see Billy Joel play :-(

    No parking

by Brian on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Unfortunately we did not get to see the show, as we could not find a place to park. $1000.00 for three tickets. Drove around for two hours and went home. Petco Park needs to send out detailed instructions for parking. Very disappointing.

    The Entertainer Delivers

by EC on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Billy Joel & Sting are true professionals! The rain came, yet they performed their legendary show with spunk and excitement! The show was a true bucket list event and both gentlemen delivered a show that we will never forget! Thank you for making our 25th wedding anniversary so memorable!

    A phenomenal musical experiencd

by 4th time on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

First. Sting was terrific and his backup singers and harmonica player also jaw dropping. Billy Joel was awesome. Unsure about covering two songs with his wide array of hits, but the opera piece was a good add. Lots of energy and a great time.

Petco Park sound was not good.

by MM on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Billy Joel and Sting both did an amazing job but the sound at Petco Park in San Diego just echoes so bad that it sounds like you are listing to a different song in each ear. It is meant for baseball and not concerts.

    Billy Joel needs to prioritize

by Gberry on 4/17/24Petco Park - San Diego

Billy Joel started 1 1/2 hour later, had Sting do more than a warm up…STING WAS THE BEST PART OF THE SHOW! Once Billy Joel came out to sing (9:35 pm), he started by singing other songs not his own (for what I paid to go and hear)… than he started to introduce his band, followed by asking STING to come out and sing with him (by then it was raining pretty hard) lastly he started to promote his new music 🎶 … at that point we decided it was not worth being cold&wet and left the show. 👎🏻
