About

Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and  "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

    Barely any collaboration

by It was good, not overwhelming on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Although both Stars were great on their own, when you have two headliners you would expect more collaboration. I was disappointed they only appeared together for one song.

    What song was that?

by Janine on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Both Sting and Billy Joel were awesome...even in the rain.....but the echo was so bad at Petco Park we could barely identify the song that was playing. Our seats were very high up, but they should not have sold tickets if the echo was that severe. We made the best of two great artists in the rain. Such bad acoustics or maybe the sound man for Sting was truly off. The drum beat was a least a second or two delayed. Sad.

This was a time to remember

by N8 on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

This was truly a time to remember. This experience received an A+ rating. From booking the event, to the details leading up to the event; Ticketmaster was the best venue to have coordinated a once in a life time moment in musical history.

    An Incredible Night!

by Melissa S on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Despite the rain that began pouring during his second song, the night was one to remember! I’ve looked forward to seeing Billy Joel live for years and finally decided to purchase floor seats, center stage. It was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat. He was full of energy and absolutely sang his heart out! Thank you for a phenomenal evening of entertainment!

    Great concert terrible floor seats

by Raider man on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

We throughly enjoyed both Sting and Billy Joel. However our extremely expensive floor seats in A7 should never have been offered for sale. We had no view of the stage, we were so far to the right we could not see any of the entertainment. Future events will be highly unlikely due to cost and poor quality of seats.

    Rained out missed out

by Maso on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

He was awesome but it rained on us as soon as he started. It was freezing cold we were soaked wet and we couldn’t take it anymore so we left early. We missed most of his concert. I wish he was first because I knew more of his songs than Sting’s.

    Great performers!

by Gigismom on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

The pros - Both Sting and Billy Joel are still at the top of their careers! They both were phenomenal to watch perform. The cons - We paid top dollar to have floor seats in section A2. The chair were small white plastic chairs that were zip tied together. We were basically sitting on each other it was that close. The people next to me wanted to dance to every song and i got elbowed and pushed a few times as i was just standing, watching and listening. BTW - everyone was standing so that was the only way to see the performers. Next time i would buy seats in the stands.

    Singing in the rain

by HelenKarl on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Stadium concerts are tough because the seats are so far from the stage. You end up watching the big screen instead. The sound was good in the open air seats, but when everyone moved under cover when the rain started, the sound quality was not great because of all the concrete. Sting's performance was excellent! Plus he had the benefit of playing before it started raining. The concert started on time!

In spite of the rain Billy put on a memorable concert.

by Didn't Start the Fire on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

First Sting and Billy sang. Then Sting plays for 1hr 30min. Billy was the best, through the rain preformed for 1hr 45min. He knows how to lift the audience and let them down easily. A true pro, still has it a month shy of 75th birthday.

    The Concert was AwEsOmE

by Menchdude on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Sting was Awesome he looked great, I wana be as buff as he is when i'm 72. The synergy between Billy Joel and Sting was great. Billy Joel was so generous in sharing the stage and spotlight with his band members, who had solos in both singing and instrumentation, they were ALL exceptional as a group and individually. I am so impressed, and to top it off, it was a 4 hour show, so worth the floor level ticket prices, Sting.

    Horrible acoustics

by TLC on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Show was great, but the acoustics were awful! Reverberations and echos through the show. It really ruined two amazing singers.

    Very fun concert

Sting was amazing and Billy Joel was more fun than I anticipated. Having the crowd sing Piano Man was the highlight.

Sting'in In the Rain with Billy

by KD on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

Sting and his trubadors were alone worth the price of admission. What more could a concert goer want? Then came Billy Joel in a New York State of Mind, sending me back 40 years to living in NYC. and the skies opened literally and figuratively with pouring rain. Nobody, including Billy and his trubadors, flinched and the evening on the bay evolved into an epic, lifetime memory.

    Never Lets Me Down

by Row33 on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

I’ve seen Billy 10+ times up and down the west coast, Vegas and in Texas. Last time was a year ago in LA with Stevie Nicks. Didn’t know what to expect with Sting, as I’m not a huge fan of his, but was absolutely blown away! Absolutely shocked that Billy opened WITH him! Sting puts on a hell of a show himself. Billy never lets me down-been going to his shows for 30 years whenever I can, and will continue for as long as he keeps coming my way.

    Best Concert

by Dalia on 4/16/24Petco Park - San Diego

I had a fab time at the concert watching Sting and Billy Joel. 2 iconic singers. I felt like it was a double concert as we got about 2 hours of each artist so no complaints from me even though it rained when BJ came on. The only downside for me was the angle to watch the concert. They obviously wanted to stick in as many seats as possible which is why the view from A1 was no the best. Seats facing forward and we had to turn to the right to see the stage and watch the screen. I purchased my tickets through Ticket Club and I’m not sure I’ll be doing that again. Soon after I bought my 2 seats in the B block (which would have been a more direct view) I received an email saying no longer available and I would be upgraded. I did not consider where we sat to be an upgrade from where I purchased my tickets. I went back and forth with Ticket Club and they didn’t budge on what they considered an upgrade.
