Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

First time seeing Billy Joel and first time at MSG. It became a bucket list item when the end to his residency at MSG was announced. Loved the interaction with the audience. Kind of neat to see the Chritsy Brinkley was also in attendance.
Billy made a big show with unexpected songs (also of the Bee Gees or Rolling Stones. But his own songs stay the best! The audience was all the time excited! What a celebration of a life of a magnificant musisian!
My husband and I waited a long time to see Billy perform at MSG. It was worth waiting for. We saw him at Last Play at Shea but always wanted to see him at MSG. We were happy we did. The concert was great as expected. We also love Mike DelGuidice and got to hear him sing two songs. It was also a great night to be there since Billy's daughter, Alexa Ray, sang two songs. The last one she dedicated to her dad, To Sir With Love. Billy only has 3 concerts left so if you can grab a ticket, I highly recommend that you see him. If you get a ticket on the ground level, everyone was standing for the entire show. If you want to stay seated for most of it, get a seat in an upper level. Most people were seated and respectful during the concert. If you want to stand, pick a seat in a back row. Enjoy!!
I have been to over 40 Billy Joel concerts (2 more upcoming). He really puts on the greatest show. Highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity go see Billy you will not be disappointed!
This was such an enjoyable concert. I’ve seen him many times and have never been disappointed!! This was no exception…..he is amazing and his age has not diminished his performance at all!!
The Billy Joel concert was wonderful. The musicians and singers were great. I loved the personal touch of Bill’s daughter singing and his chat with the audience. His impressions of other performers were so funny! Thanks for the awesome concert and great evening!
What can I say? Billy Joel is a legend! He was amazing. Not the first time seeing him. Wish it wasn't the last. I was lucky enough to get tickets and to bring my children. It was an experience they will remember for a lifetime.
It was a dream to see Billy Joel at MSG. One of the best shows I’ve ever experienced. He played all the big hits that people love, and he had so much energy throughout. He still sounds great!
So lucky to see Billy in his home state. It was awesome
