About

Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and  "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

Great time, get there earlier than you are planning!

by Lovely! on 3/3/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Stadium (Raymond James) Show started right on time; good thing there was an opener because we left an hour earlier than it would take us to get there and we were still later than show start. Parking is a mess anywhere but stadium parking is outrageously priced (~$90 to park a half mile away). And that's not even counting all the roads nearby that are blocked off - so GO WAY EARLY! The staff was very helpful. Show: Billy Joel was awesome. Once in a lifetime show, I'm so glad we went, even though it was pricy. I enjoyed that he played a ton of his hits and some ones that weren't as well known. We really had a lovely time singing along - lots of energy in the show and Billy Joel was personable and fun. The band was great too - lots of talent on the stage. We had an absolute blast!!

Billy Joel & Sting - fantastic!

by Ddub51 on 3/3/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I arrived at 5pm for the 7pm concert. This was my 2nd time seeing Billy Joel in concert. Billy Joel's concerts start on time, so a LOT of people had to file into the stadium to get to their seats when the concert started! Sting put on a brilliant performance and his voice sounded very good! Billy Joel is 74 years old and still sounds every bit as good as he did 30+ years ago! He performed his classics as well as his new song "Turn the Lights Back On."For the encore, he performed 5-6 songs and the concert ended at 11pm. It was a fabulous night!

    Incredible concert

by Dee on 3/2/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I had an amazing time with my family at the concert! I didn’t know what to expect as far as how long Billy Joel and Sting would each be on stage or if they were going to go back and forth singing songs or sing together. I was so pleasantly surprised when Sting sang for over an hour and I assumed Billy Joel would do the same and shorten his usual routine but he performed for 2 hours. The entire show was incredible!! First time at Raymond James Stadium as well and loved it. So much fun!!

Concert was great!! Floor seating HORRIBLE!!!

by Debbie on 3/1/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

The concert itself was great!! We spent extra money on our seats to get floor seats and we were so squished together and the rows were so close together that there was no space to walk the aisles. We would have been better off paying for the stadium seats vs the floor seats. Was very disappointed in the amount of money it cost and how we were crammed in the space!!

by Great Showman! on 3/1/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Sting was very impressive. Great songs, talented music - thoroughly enjoyed his show. Billy Joel just has a stage presence and fantastic music to draw from. It was a wonderful night and drew on the memories on our youth. Loved the encores!!

    Amazing Experience

by Matt and Margarita on 3/1/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Such an amazing show. The only complaints are, although I was sitting close, I had a 7-foot-tall bobble head in front of me that obstructed my view quite a bit and he was not even courteous, and I was sixth row, and it did not seem that loud as I could hear others talking around me. I guess it is a stadium show thing, Sting and Billy still sounded great after all these years!! Was also a great surprise to see that Shaggy tagged along.

    Every song was special

by Susan on 3/1/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Every song seemed like the finale!. They all had a special addition, something that made the concert so much more than song after song after song. Amazing concert, go if at all possible!

Beautiful signing, wish I could've seen them too

by PAC on 3/1/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Basically what the title says. They both sang beautifully and the songs they picked were just what I was hoping to hear. Absolute masterpieces, both of them. The people at the stadium, however, were some of the most inconsiderate bunch I've ever come across at a concert. They kept moving up and down the stairs, standing in areas that were clearly labeled as off-limit, completely blocking people's view of the stage. For some reason, the stadium had four Jumbotrons that they didn't use, sticking with only two small ones next to the stage, so with the people being inconsiderate and no additional screens to watch, we couldn't see them properly.

Artists Were Great, Stadium Experience Lacking

by Tampa Reviewer on 2/29/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Fantastic Performance by Billy Joel. This artist connects with his audience and puts on a great show. RJ Stadium mismanaged - $1,000 for floor seats with porta-potties outside the stadium and non-working washbasins. The Stadium parking has people to direct inbound parking but not a soul to manage the outbound exits making it an awful exit experience. Unbelievable pricing on concessions. Makes the Rays and Disney pricing look like a bargain. No water fountains, again $1,000 ticket and no place to get a dring of water or wash hands. Great show, lousy stadium management.

    Sting/Billy Joel Reviews

by Lala on 2/29/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

In the upper section of Raymond James stadium the sound during the Sting portion of the concert had an echo effect that was annoying to hear. Not sure if the speakers were out of sync but it definitely lessened the quality of what we were hearing. Billy Joel’s performance was so much better in that the echo seemed to be gone. Loved these two!!

Billy Joel a natural real talent!

by EE on 2/29/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Enjoyed hearing a little background before Billy sings a song. Enjoyed Billy’s sense of humor. He seems so comfortable and natural performing on stage plus he has surely mastered his craft to perfection. While Sting sang all his hits and sounded great, there was a sense of a little less effort in perfecting his performance. All in all it was a great show!

Best concert ever! Venue traffic issues

by Jmlucky on 2/29/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Sting and Billy Joel put on a great show. In my top 2 concerts of my lifetime, if not my number 1. Getting to Raymond James stadium was a nightmare. We took an Uber for a 5 mile trip and it took an hour and 49 minutes. There was no police directing traffic with 4 major pathway all merging. The police were hanging out at the stadium. This caused us to miss the first 40 minutes of Sting. Shane on the city of Tampa.

    Showtime to the MAX

by Higdude on 2/29/24Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Sting and Billy Joel proved they are top entertainers who have gained more beats than they ever lost as they mature in our lifetime. Their supporting casts are stars in their own rights and were given ample opportunity to show it. The shows were long enough to cover many of their biggest hits and the encore slammed home how great these guys are.
