    Wonderful history lesson

by girlfromTexas on 11/30/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Ann Holland did an amazing job writing about and performing as the late govenor of Texas. As a Texan that lived in Texas during that part of the states history, it was enlightening to have a different perspective than what the media seemed to say. What a wonderful evening in "Ann Richard's" company. This depiction reminded me of the heart of so many Texas women that I have known and loved. I would hope that even folks from other states would enjoy the story of this fiesty woman.

Holland Taylor's great talents are so evident in this play. It's incredible that she not only wrote it, but pulled off such an impressive solo performance! Get ready, Broadway, for one heck of a show!

    Holland Taylor is great.

by Cherryville on 11/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I went to the play hoping to see Holland Taylor as cool as I think she is. She was all that. My wife and I do appreciate talent. Holland is synonymous with that.

    Brilliant

by chicagodecorator on 11/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Holland Taylor has poured her heart and sole into this play ... she used her own money to fund it ... researched Ann Richards and her life for two years ... wrote the script ... and the final result is two hours of shear pleasure ! Holland Taylor is brilliantly bringing authentic American theater back with "Ann" . Treat yourself and go see her.

    ANN was excellent

by Blutruffle on 11/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Holland Taylor was outstanding as Ann Richards. Knowing Ms. Taylor wrote the play added to the experience - she packed Ms Richard's entire life into the play. And caught Ms Richard's wonderful sense of humor and her committment to the social causes she believed in

    Much better than expected

Although maybe a little too long, Holland Taylor gives an outstanding performance as Ann Richards. If that Two and a Half Men doesn't work out, she certainly can spend her time on Broadway.

    Ann was fabulous!

by Struby on 11/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This was one of the best plays I have seen in a long time. I heard about it on the Rosie show and we went to it as a Thanksgiving weekend family activity. The politics of the play resonated with by own in perfect harmony.During the play I cried, laughed and cheered. I have always said that Ann Richards is the only good politician to come out of Texas. This play was a perfect tribute to a truely wonderful lady.

    Holland Taylor IS Ann Richards!

by junie194 on 11/29/11Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Holland Taylor does a remarkable job of channeling Ann Richards, the amazingly smart, funny, and real Governor of Texas. Richards managed to get elected as a Democratic in this mostly Republican-leaning, redneck state. It was her straightforewardness and honesty in supporting minority causes and favoring gun control that eventually cost her the office, and Holland Taylor's portrayal of Richards reveals to us exactly why she wasn't elected to a second term. This fine, one-woman show, with its nuances and truth, is nothing short of brilliant. I highly recommend it.

quite the undertaking for one person. very impressive. She captured Ann's mannerisms, look, cadence and humor. Definitely enjoyable. I'd shorten it by about 20 minutes.

Very good seats and the play was not only a very good commentary on the 'times', but delivers a profound message to women that a place can be carved out at the 'old boys club' if you are willing to go the distance.
