About
ANN: AN AFFECTIONATE PORTRAIT OF ANN RICHARDS is a play with Emmy® Award-winning stage and screen actress Holland Taylor. A hilarious and inspiring evening of theater celebrating a beloved daughter of Texas, Taylor hopes ANN will "bring a magical touch to the past and the present, swirling them together as only the theatre can do, and leaving the audience with an enhanced sense not only of a person and a time, but of themselves."

Rating: 5 out of 5by BABEAR1 on 12/13/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San Antonio Holland Taylor provided an excellent portrayal of Ann Richards! The opportunity to have a glimpse into Richards' interoffice rapport and overall candidness confirmed for me why I continue to refer to Ann as "my Governor"...one in a million. Thanks for introducing a wonderful woman to those who were not privileged to have experienced Ann.

by adifferentJames on 12/13/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioIF you knew Ann Richards, or if she was your Governor, or if you're a liberal, or if you're not, you should see this show. It reminded me of some of the great things she did, not only as a politician, but as a human being. Such a legacy should be remembered and celebrated. James

by Texasldy1 on 12/13/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioAbsolutely fabulous event. It was as if Holland Taylor was "channeling" Ann. I felt like I was given a special gift to spend time with this wonderful lady. I laughed and cried and remembered a time when all of these women were making a difference and giving all of us so much hope for the future.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Amazing Depiction of an Amazing Woman
by laurawzhere on 12/12/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioI took my mother to see the play as one of her Christmas presents and she thought it was one of her best gifts yet. (whew!) As for me, the whole play reminded me of how I felt about this great state and it's potential during Gov. Richards' all too brief time in office. Many thanks to Holland Taylor for a point-perfect depiction!

by cornchip on 12/12/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioThe only thing wrong with this wonderful one-woman show was when it was over and I sat back and realized that Ann Richards wasn't REALLY still with us. It was soooo convincing and so funny that I grieved all over again at the end for the loss to our political scene, our feminist scene and our human scene. Don't miss it, cause like the real thing there will never be another like it.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Ms. Taylor was terrific as Ms. Richards
by educators on 12/12/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioWhat a fantastic job Ms. Taylor did Friday (opening) night! My friends and I laughed and we cried! Such an enjoyable evening. We've been recommending the play to everyone--to please try to attend while it's here. We hope that it is able to go all the way to Broadway.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Master Class in Performance Art!
by POCODENANDA on 12/12/10Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioHANDS DOWN the best show you will see in San Antonio all year! Holland Taylor is a master at bringing "Miss Ann" to life. Funny, sharp, sad, inspirational - what a pleasure to see a consummate professional like Ms. Taylor create such a satisfying work of art. It's not about politics! (Hell, I'd go see a play about Sarah Palin if it were someone's skillful, artistic vision.) Treat yourself to a master class in theatre performance! (The EMPIRE is a Broadway caliber theatre and we're lucky to have such jewel here in San Antonio! It's criminal that we're not being offered a broad range of theatre performances at this glorious venue every night of the year. Local San Antonio theatre all-too-frequently suffers from "regional preciousness" - we need these skilled professionals from New York and L.A. to remind us exactly why LIVE THEATRE can never be replaced by the internet, dvd's and the x-box.)
