About

Home Free on Tour

Though Home Free are primarily considered a country group, the quintet's concerts are quite a bit more. First and foremost, they're a vocal act in the a cappella tradition, which means they know how to make five voices sound like a full band even without any instruments on the stage. They pull off this impressive achievement by incorporating lush harmonies, beatboxing and vocal counterpoint that harkens back to doo-wop and barbershop. While recent years have found Home Free moving toward a more country-based sound, with a repertoire that includes the likes of Vince Gill, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris, they also venture into plenty of other areas when they perform live. A cappella versions of tunes made famous by Ed Sheeran, Shakira or The O'Jays are just as likely to enter their performance repertoire.

Home Free in Concert

The a cappella phenomenon known as Home Free came into being in Mankato, Minnesota, in 2000 when five young men, including brothers Adam and Chris Rupp, joined their voices together for the first time. Their repertoire was all over the map, including country, pop, soul and rock 'n' roll. The group eventually hit the road hard, and began releasing albums on their own label in 2007 starting with From the Top. But things changed in a big way for Home Free when they won the TV competition show The Sing-Off in 2013. By that time they'd become more country-oriented, and after earning a record deal with Sony/Columbia their albums started regularly entering the upper rungs of country charts. Several personnel changes occurred over the years, the biggest when Chris Rupp departed in 2016, but in their current incarnation Home Free still bring the a cappella magic to the stage every time.

    Home Free Never Disappoints

Row G, Center Floor. So close it felt like I could reach out and touch the guys. They sounded awesome. Not my first time, but the best, so far. The venue was conveniently located and comfortable.

    So much fun

by Sammie on 4/30/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

The ONLY reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because half the time their lighting made it to where you couldn't see them. I do not wear glasses, it was just the lighting effects. I heard others saying it "blinded"them or it was too bright for the smaller venue. Seemed to me it was mainly the blue lights that seemed to bother people. However, the band was super engaging, good family fun, and they sounded magnificent. I would definitely pay to see them again!!

    Home Free KC

by Turtlecruiser on 4/30/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

I really enjoyed the Home Free concert. Downsides, it was only 1.5 hrs (I'm used to 2+ hr concerts) and there was a tad bit a foul language. Other than that, it was a great show and I had fun.

We are 72 and 49. A wonderful show, personable/engaging group and amazing concert. Only wished there was more. So glad they did some of their 1st presentations and the one ones written by group members:) I'd have loved to win the back-stage pass and have a conversation with them. both my daughter and I were immensely impressed, pleased and charged up:)

Great audience interaction, not enough singing

by Mommalanna on 4/30/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

Great location and size of the venue. Gave a very personal experience. Loved the opportunity for audience participation and coming up to the stage. But was disappointed that there was not more singing, which is why I went. Out of an hour and a half, less than 10 songs were sung. And the beat boxing was cool, that is not what I came for.

    Home Free Always Hits

by Hlmump on 4/30/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

This was my third time seeing Home Free in concert and they never fail to entertain! They always put on such a fun and engaging concert experience. They make you feel like one of the gang not just a part of the crowd. They make jokes, they're real and the singing is phenomenal. I definitely hope to catch them again in the future.

    Great concert - but

by Dee on 4/30/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

Concert was excellent. Improve could be to the bleacher section with adding hand rail. I saw several people almost fall down the bleachers.
