ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • Great show, great venue, unbeatable ticket price

    by AJ98 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

ZZ Top has always put on a good show, and this one was no exception (I've seen them 5x). Like any other show, it was formula; they did all the 'expected' things (for example, fuzzy guitars when they played "Legs") They did play several tracks I haven't heard in a very long time, live, or on the radio, which was a pleasant surprise I was also surprised that cameras *were* allowed (unlike other venues in the area.) Opening act was good, but more country than rock, so I didn't know any of their music. Orchestra pit tickets were only 47; in contrast, their next show, (at a much larger venue), orchestra pit tickets are 125. Too expensive - I will not go.

  • ZZ top the best in the Biz

    by whitetiger2323 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Over 40 years in the bizz and they still know how to rock the world of music. It was a good way to start the summer with a band that has redefined themselves over time and still keep true to thier roots.

  • ZZ Top Still Rocks

by BCBC on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

ZZ Top rocker the house... concert could have been a liitle longer

  • Good concert, venue wasn't loud enough!

    by BigWill1985 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 3 out of 5

ZZ Top always puts on a good show. At this venue, though, there was no stage show. Just a straight performance. The music was good, just not the normal ZZ Top show. Also, the sound system was inadequate. It wasn't loud enough up in the rear seats!

  • When the next one?

by HeadsinMS on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Great show - music was great and awesome show. The left the stage without saying anything and didn't come back - may have been local ordinance for outdoor events, but other than that great!

  • ZZ TOP'S Performance was Awesome !

by tigerpaw189 on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

Hadn't been to a ZZ Top concert in years. They still preform and play their music as good as they did back in the 70's. They played all their greastest hits and some of their new ones.

  • ZZ Top Still Rocks

by kaddy on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 4 out of 5

The show was done at a small theater type setting and all the seats were close and all had excellent views. The band was lively and still rocked like they did in the old days. During breaks the band joked openly with fans in the front and the pictorials of the band's history on the screens was an excellent tribute to their past and history. Show lasted only about 2 hours, but everyone was satisfied.

  • THE BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN.

    by GregEdwards242 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

The coolest band in the business. "Greg dollars" are earned the old fashion way and this was money well spent. My wife and I had a great time. If they come back as headliners to the Portsmouth Pavilion I will go again.

  • ZZ Top Was Good Yet Disappointing

    by themidastouch67 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 2 out of 5

I've been a huge ZZ Top fan all my life. This was my third (and possibly last time) seeing them live. I'm used to the scaled down stage/production for these guys and while they played their hits very well (as one would hope after having played them several thousand times), this show left me very disappointed when it was over. The set list was very short, well under two hours of stage time... probably approaching an hour and a half. They played some but not nearly most of their well known tunes (i.e. Tush, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs etc.) but they left quite a few songs unplayed as well. But it wasn't just the shortness of the set that bothered me, it was that they left the stage at about 10:40 PM without even a single encore... they just finished the song, waved and walked off. Everyone was expecting them to come back out and play at least another song or two... but the lights slowly came back up and the roadies took the stage and started tearing down the equipment. Everyone was dumbfounded. While I will always listen to ZZ Tops music, I will NEVER pay my hard earned money to see them in concert ever again. Very disappointed in one of my all time favorite groups.

  • ZZ Top still got it

by Shodu on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

There were outstanding. Just kept waiting for them to spin the guitars, but it never happened. It is hard to believe that they still sound just like they did back when they first started. The beards are just a little lighter in color, but the voices still rock.

  • Never to forget this Birthday present.

by Agricoliansu on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

This was my gift to my husband for his birthday and he said this was the best of the best. He took his brother and they absolutely enjoyed every minute of the show. This was the third time he had seen ZZ, but this venue was top notch.

  • ZZ Top brought the hot sauce!

by V8MANual on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen ZZ Top before in a coliseum, but this was a whole different experience. Less than 2000 theater seats, all over 21, with cocktails; it was like the best bar band in the world! We've seen other shows; music, stand up, hypnotists, at the IP and It's a great environment. The show was awesome of course! The only glitch was that two of Billy's guitars didn't work; they didn't get to do the fuzz covered axe spin during 'Legs'. But considering they just flew in one night between stadium shows with Aerosmith, that there was only one technical problem is pretty good. Oh Yeah, and Billy didn't bring matching shoes! Must have got up too early! HA!

  • Freakin awesome

  • ZZ Top Rocked!!!!

by oneman on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top rocked... Great show and would go again... However, the IP Casino venue sucked!!!!! It was stadium seating like a movie theater with, well, movie theater seats so people constantly had to get up and come by for beer, restroom, etc. You couldn't stand up because the people behind you couldn't see and if the people in front of you stood up you couldn't see. In fact the guy in front me had a huge head and I couldn't see even when he sitting down. It's also a gamble (casino?) whether or not the people behind you will be plastered or not. There was guy a few rows in front of us that kept getting up and dancing and he spilled beer all over the people in front of him. I really thought he was going to get a$$ beat. So great performers handicapped by a terrible venue. There has to be standing room in front of the stage for those of us who go to rock concerts to rock. I will never go to another concert at the IP Casino. Hard Rock Casio, now that place rocks...

  • Still rockn!

by nolarocker on 7/11/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

Great small venue with one of the best bands of all time. ZZ Top is still rockn after all these years. The acoustics were a little bassy and the house lights sometimes shined directly in the eye, but all normal concert going conditions. ZZ Top was charismatic refined and proven rock gods. They are going blues when everyone is going green. I would definitely recommend this to all, and my wife and I will be there for the next time they are in town!

  • ZZ TOP WAS A HAVE TO CONCERT

  • ZZTop at NTelos

    by snolan65 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

This was our first time at the NTelos theater in Portsmouth. The smaller size of the theater gave the show a more "up close and personal" touch even from the lawn area where we sat. The sound system was very good, so we could clearly hear all of our favorite songs - and they sang them all! We really enjoyed the entire evening.

  • ZZ Top too cool

    by Holly77 on 7/11/09nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Best concert of the year. I was in High School in Alabama during the 1970s, when ZZ Top hit the charts. They have never changed and were awesome. I'll go back when they return.
