Zeds Dead on Tour
Veterans of the EDM festival circuit, Toronto's Zeds Dead are masters of unleashing singles to the masses to get everyone stoked for their live show. And over the summer of 2019, they dropped multiple tracks to do just that. The frenetic "Lift You Up," an accelerated synth-punk sprint that's liable to turn the dance tent into a mosh pit. "Rescue" — a collaboration with Dutch producer Dion Timmer and Toronto diva Delaney Jane — splits the difference between bass-wobbled beats and edgy alt-rock energy. But "Stars Tonight" — featuring Dutch duo DROELOE — leaps from piano-laced serenity to future-bass freakery, with heart-racing ascents and queasy drops that ensure their sets strike the right balance of euphoria and anarchy.
Zeds Dead in Concert
The Toronto-based duo of Dylan Mamid (aka DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (aka Hooks) first came together in the mid-2000s under the name Mass Productions, a project steeped in their love of boom-bapped hip-hop. But as EDM came to dominate the city's club scene at the turn of the decade, the duo caught the wave and rebranded themselves Zeds Dead (a quote from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). While the 2010 single "Rude Boy" captures them still transitioning out of old-school breaks toward nu-rave sonics, the series of EPs they released through Diplo's Mad Decent imprint over the course of 2012 and 2014 saw them change things up. They retrofitted their sound for the festival circuit (take, for example, the steep drops and subterranean bass of "Hadouken"), and they also initiated alt-rock crossovers with the likes of Twin Shadow and Perry Farrell. After launching their own label, Deadbeat, Zeds Dead released their first proper album statement, the Juno Award–nominated Northern Lights, in 2016, with a wildly eclectic guest list (Diplo, Pusha T, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo) that speaks to their ever-evolving fusion of sun-dappled EDM, gritty rap production and rock power.

Best edm show and performance I’ve seen by far, an experience like no other.
Not many DJs can compare to ZEDS DEAD!! . He is an amazing DJ all his music goes hard. I would go to that show 1000 times over. It was so good.
I LOVE ZEDS DEAD! The venue is great, the vibes were so nice, the lasers were crazy!! Top tier experience. Also the opener djs were all quality !
Awesome venue, and Zeds Dead was INCREDIBLE! Sound and visuals were on point
So, originally doors were set to open at 6pm. One week before show, they changed to 8pm. (big mistake) At this show in Minneapolis, they had 5 openers … All played for at least , if not more than, an hour. The openers definitely werent bad, just not the same type of vibe AT ALL as Zeds. Had to leave early because it was like almost midnight and still had 2 more openers left. Zeds wasnt playing until 2 am. Fine and cool if you can handle that long hahaha but we couldnt. Id advise you to check the shows to see how many openers and then plan accordingly.
ZD is amazing. They always have been. I’m getting tired of this venue though. Doors were at 7pm and they didn’t let us in until 7:30. They offered some “pre show” entry for $45+ to get in at the time that we already paid for… If you're anywhere near the back, you can barely hear the music. Same issue with every show I’ve been here. Either sell less tickets or upgrade your sound system Roxy
Having a rave style concert at the Roxy is literally the worst venue for such a show. The logistics of the venue were horrible... a total cluster. No way to know where the bathroom line starts and ends when its mixed in with the bar line. The Eastern would have been a much better spot for this show. Honestly the venue made me stressed while there.
One of the best sets I’ve seen in a while was unfortunately ruined by the crowd and the venue. My group was all the way in the back and it still felt like sardines in there the entire show. I’ve never felt more packed in, and I go to a lot of shows. It didn’t help that the volume was so low you could hear people talking over it. Hope to see Zeds Dead again at a better venue!
Omg it never gets better than Zeds Dead. They always put on an amazing show, and we got so many old songs and treats over these three days!!! Unforgettable to say the least!
I definitely think there was too many people, that was the most packed venue ive ever been in which made me sad. I love zeds dead but the set we saw leaned more towards house which wasnt my style. I know thats not their usual vibe tho ive seen them plenty before. Just wasnt a good show for me, we will try again next time🫶
It was an amazing show, the production was on point and the sound quality was amazing as always @sylvee
Esteemed patrons of the arts, I must implore you to lend your ears and hearts to the resplendent auditory feast that is Zeds Dead! On the eve of October 6th, the hallowed halls of The Grand Music Hall resonated with a vibrancy that transcended mere entertainment; it was an experience both ethereal and profound. From the moment the illustrious duo took to the stage, a palpable electricity coursed through the audience, as if the very atmosphere crackled with expectation. Their mastery over the art of sound manipulation is nothing short of wizardry, weaving a tapestry of melodies that captivated the senses and stirred the soul. Each composition unfolded with the precision of a finely crafted sonnet, and the crowd, enraptured, moved in synchrony as if orchestrated by some unseen conductor. The evening's proceedings were marked by a delightful interplay of genres, wherein the realms of electronic, dubstep, and bass music coalesced into a singularly magnificent experience. It is rare to encounter artists who can so effortlessly bridge disparate musical styles, yet Zeds Dead accomplish this with the grace of a ballet dancer en pointe, elevating the spirit of the audience to dizzying heights. Moreover, the visual presentation that accompanied their performance was a veritable feast for the eyes—a stunning display of lights and imagery that danced in harmonious concert with the pulsating rhythms. It was a spectacle that could only be likened to a grand painting coming to life, drawing the audience into a world where sound and sight entwined in a glorious embrace. In conclusion, I declare Zeds Dead to be not merely musicians, but conjurers of a transcendent experience that leaves an indelible mark upon the heart. I urge all connoisseurs of the arts to attend their performances with alacrity, for to witness such talent is to partake in the very essence of modern musicality. This is an engagement that shall be remembered as one of the finest cultural offerings of our time, and I, for one, am left in eager anticipation of their next grand exhibition.
I am not your typical Zeds Dead fan. I’m a 47 year old man and stick out like a sore thumb. I can’t tell you how many people talked to me, and thought it was great that I enjoyed this kind of music. Very welcoming fan base. The show itself was phenomenal. Great sound and visuals. Was better than I expected and I had high expectations going in. I will be seeing them again and I would travel pretty far to make that happen.
Love the ppl and the venue and the music, great time!
The event was great paid for the parking for the event but the parking was located almost a mile away .7 exactly so be ready for some cardio unless you get and uber better off just finding free parking and uber to location 🙄
This was my first time at Hampton Coliseum but not my first time seeing Zeds Dead. I really loved the show and quality of the lights and visuals and of course the music. My only complaint is that the venue sold bottles of water but didn’t let you keep the cap. In the age of the Me Too Movement, I think that it’s important to keep your patrons safe by providing a lid to keep the drink covered to prevent someone from getting drugged. It’s very common now. Other than that I had a really great time.
Shows at Hampton Coliseum ALWAYS deliver. From entry to the very end it is always a spectacular time. Professional staff and the best layout of any venue I’ve ever been to, this place needs to be protected at all costs!!!! Big shout out to Zeds Dead for truly delivering an epic show to match the legendary venue!!!
AMAZING. Every artist threw down and as always the production at the colesium was amazing
The event was okay. Security was very inconsistent. They didn't let me bring in chapstick, but my friend had their chapstick passed by on the table. A vape was let in the first night, but not the next. They made us dump out our water from our water bottle just to then tell us we couldn't bring the metal bottle inside. Complete waste of water. One good thing about the colusiem is that parking is close by, so we could just go drop our water bottle at the car. The food at the colusiem is always horrendous. There were no non-alcoholic beer options. The actual show was alright.
