About

Young Nudy Background

Among the rising new wave of Atlanta emcees who keep pushing Dirty South rap to the fore is Young Nudy, a spirited and mischievous emcee who fiercely spits intoxicating rhymes about life in the gritty streets of the ATL. The 25-year-old artist — who hasn't revealed his government name — was kicked out of high school at age 14 and began immersing himself in East Atlanta's hardcore hip-hop lifestyle.

Though he was reluctant to assume a rapping role himself, old heads of the scene noticed Young Nudy's linguistic potential, and by 19 he was pushed to hop on the rap route. Then his cousin, 21 Savage, convinced the budding wordsmith to feature in 2015's "Air It Out" clip, a wicked aggro-trap number whose video displays a mob of thugs with guns blazing.

Because of Young Nudy's previous run-ins with the law, "music sh*t kept clashing, and it backfired," he told The Fader, thus getting him incarcerated several times. He didn't want to spend more time inside a cell, so once he got out, he started hanging in the studio.

There, he met Pi'erre Bourne, a then relatively unknown trap beatmaker behind some of Playboi Carti and 6ix9ine's hits. The South Carolina producer dug Nudy's tempered and unhurried flow and snuck him into the recording studio off the clock to begin working on the 2016 debut of his ‘Slimeball' series. They've followed up with a mixtape every year since. 2017's confessional ‘Nudy Land' LP saw the emcee exploring the tropes of Atlanta trap. For his latest, 2018 ‘SB3,' Nudy enlisted other producers in the mix.

Young Nudy In Concert

"I come from the streets where this sh*t ain't sweet," slyly flows Young Nudy against a menacing trap beat off of "Sweep," the intro track to his ‘Slimeball' debut mixtape. With an unhurried, unapologetic demeanor, that's how the Atlanta rapper introduced himself as he arrived to the stage of Rolling Loud SoCal in 2017.

In 2018, the young emcee appeared at Trees in Dallas, and two days later made a stop at the Warehouse Live Studio in Houston. He performed hits off his ‘Slimeball' mixtape series and other features.

I truly enjoyed my experience at the young Nudy concert with my siblings and other fans. It was great to be around the same energy and to receive such a memorable experience based on the performance given is the all time best for me. Thank you for a great night with excellent vibes all around.

That moshpit was one of the best pits I’ve ever been in, and Nudy brought the energy. Setlist was crazy

  • Ok

by Pipo Esparza on 3/4/23House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

2nd time seeing slime nudy, 1st time at OC observatory. This time he came out an hour and a half after show start, last time he came out within 30-45 minutes of show start time. He only performed less than 45 minutes and last time at least an hour. I like his music but he didn’t do some big ones, and the stereo was playing in the background while he wasn’t rapping, this Happened A lot, just seen nas and wu tang they don’t do that, they might play it in the background but they still say word for word I know they’re legends but it’s what rappers should do imo. Then last bad part was when he did some good songs he cut them inexplicably super short. Overall he’s very good and I like his music but not his best performance but he did call out the crowd saying we were making him go to sleep, I strongly disagree but maybe that had something to do with it. I participated but wasn’t going crazy cuz I usually don’t. The crowd was jumping at some points. Anyway I appreciate the show but it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever go to another one of his again because I hate the speaker playing the music and them not rapping along because I could just play it in my car if they ain’t rapping. He rapped along about 50-75 percent of it, could just be an anomaly this time.

  • The wait was bad

by Dom on 2/20/22The Observatory - Santa AnaRating: 4 out of 5

The performance and atmosphere all in all was amazing just the wait/stalling time was way too long. Otherwise, I had a great time.

  • Great show

by Pipo Esparza on 2/20/22The Observatory - Santa AnaRating: 4 out of 5

Nudy got down, set was kind of fast but ran through a lot of songs. Only minor gripe was that I wish he performed the big hits in their entirety because he cut some of the best songs short. But at the same time he came through all the crowd performing in the crowd super cool great experience im glad he showed that love to his fans it’s awesome

by Lars on 10/2/21Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This show was crazy! The energy was through the roof, the audience came out and we’re all ready to have a good time. Nudy came out and played all the hits and had the crowd going crazy. 10/10 would do that again.

  • Barely Performed

by MB on 8/23/21Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

Bro came out late and barely performed. Concert ended early.

  • Lit

by Sosa on 8/22/21The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 4 out of 5

Everything was lit. I didn’t like getting pushed side to side, having my feet stepped on, & not being able to get to the front. But that’s too he expected at a general standing venue. Other than that, show was great. I wish he came out sooner or did a longer show. But it’s business right.

  • Best show!

by maya on 8/10/21House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

the energy from the performers was awesome, but honestly the venue's sound system was pretty awful and everything just sounded like noise. there was mic feedback at some point. and the opening act went on a little too long. still an enjoyable time overall tho

  • Amazing Experience

by Nathaniel on 12/15/19Buckhead Theatre presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Hometown Heroes show was easily one of the best live performances I've attended. The opening acts were energetic and pleased the crowd while the headliners were just as emphatic. Young Nudy's performance was awesome. Even with his quiet personality, he has so much natural energy and joy that it made the crowd feel great. Highlights were the artists he brought out (6LACK), when he came into the crowd and rapped with us, and when he did a surprise (FREE) meet-&-greet after the show. Also, the staff of the venue was great, and everyone had a safe, enjoyable experience.
