About

Based in New York, the post-punk/garage rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs consists of Karen O (vocals), Brian Chase (drums) and Nicolas Zinner (guitar). The trio released their self-titled debut EP in 2001—featuring angry yet sexy vocals and equally fierce guitar work and drumming. As fans awaited the band's first full-length album, Yeah Yeah Yeahs released a second super-charged EP, Machine, in 2002. After much anticipation, Fever to Tell, the band's debut full-length, appeared in 2003 and featured a range of songs, from ballads to high-energy punk tracks. The song "Maps" became a hit for the group, receiving frequent radio play and airing as a video on MTV. Film director and music video guru Spike Jonze lent his skills to the group, directing a video for the track "Y-Control." Yeah Yeah Yeahs have also kept a busy touring schedule, supporting bands such as the Strokes and the White Stripes, making appearances at festivals such as South by Southwest, and headlining their own tours in the U.S. and the U.K.

Oh my Karen O is sexy

by Bondo311 on 7/13/09Newport Music Hall - Columbus

This show was GREAT!! The rain actually added to the whole vibe going on at promo west. Karen O can sing great live and totally rocks out with all her funky dancing. I'd see them again in a second

Great energy and chemistry with the crowd.

by Popester on 7/13/09First Avenue - Minneapolis

Karen O was an amazing performer to watch. She was also very amicable with the First Avenue crowd, and you could tell that she enjoyed every minute of the performance. The only let-down was the song "Skeletons" because she couldn't hit some of the notes. Other than that, the encore rocked and they played a lot of songs off "Fever To Tell."

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs Entertainment

    by OkComp1 on 7/13/09Riviera Theatre - Chicago

Overall, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs rocked the Aragon Ballroom. Though, I do have to say that it was not their best show. I remember seeing them a few years back and how much energy they had. Karen did not seem to "go crazy" as much as she used to.

Yeah, yeah, yeahs!! HOTNESS all around!

by stevezep19 on 7/13/09The Pageant - St Louis

This show was amazing due to the fact we had two amazingly hot leads that were tearing up the stage. Grand Old Party was a band I have never heard of but when I heard her sound (similar to Grace Slick, meets Heart, meets Wolfmother) it made me want to buy everything they had recorded. Their set basically included their entire album Humanimals and it set the stage for the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Karen came out with some of their new tracks such as Heads Will Roll, and a few others I was not familiar with. I immediately was hooked by their NY style and the way they controlled the stage. Karen would dance around awkwardly and then she would turn around amongst cheering fans to thank them for their cheering. I have to say that was probably one of the loudest shows I have been to and the most eclectic with the huge eyeball that was watching us throughout the show. Other favorites that were played were Phenomenon, Gold Lion, and Take it off. Amazing show, I look forward to their next visit to St. Louis!

Take the good with the bad

by abellwillring on 7/13/09Riviera Theatre - Chicago

The main sticking point was the move to the Aragon -- I would have preferred it stay at The Riv but I wasn't entirely surprised with the move. The Aragon has great sound and they're prompt, but it just gets so ridiculously hot there due to the lack of AC. Getting out it always a nightmare that involves slightly fearing for your life. Regarding the show itself, it was shorter than I'd have liked. I'm not sure if it was a curfew thing or if it was just because David Pajo played for so long, but the YYYs were only on stage for an hour tops which was very disappointing. Grand Ol Party put on a heckuva show as well which was appreciated. I was surprised at the number of girls and young people there... I guess I didn't realize just how big of a hero Karen O was to young females. It was a solid show that was affordably priced but could have been better. I wanted more off the new record.

Too brief, bad crowd management outside

    by Mike23 on 7/13/09Riviera Theatre - Chicago

I've seen YYY's before and they rock - just thought this show was a little too brief and they could have played at least 15-20 minutes longer. Also, the line to get in was LONG and really slow. Management should be able to do a better job getting people in the door in a more timely fashion to enjoy the show.

    Solid

    by AngryChad on 7/13/09Clutch Cargo's - Pontiac

Pretty much what you'd expect from a live Yeah Yeah Yeahs performance. Nothing more, nothing less, which is still pretty awesome. Karen O has a great stage presence.

I had watched a ton of video of the YYY's performances and I wasn't disappointed by them in person. They rocked just as much live as you would expect.

Great show at the Aragon. Karen O has a fantastic stage presence and the sound was good. Only complaint was that they didn't play "Turn into"

    YYY at Aragon Chicago

    by 1970Petrus on 7/13/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

this was my 8 times seeing the Yeahs, it was one of less favorite, the band seemed to just run through the set list with not much excitement. The last show at the Riv was amazing, Nicks hands were bloody from playing so hard. Overall is was a 3 star. cheers Marc

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs...not long enough!

by kincora on 7/13/09Newport Music Hall - Columbus

The show got moved to an outdoor stage, which sucked because it was pouring rain and the grass turned to complete mud under the feet of a thousand hipster Columbusonians. But I enjoyed the mix of their old songs plus the stuff from their new album. Starting off the show with "Runaway" was actually a nice surprise. When you half expect Karen O. to kick things off by chewing up the microphone and spitting the partially digested remnants into the audience, she emerges in an ethereal kimono and croons out the simple and sweet lyrics of "Runaway." Of course, she then rips the kimono off to reveal an all-over sequined bodysuit and lime green tights with combat boots. Great band, but they hardly played at all. They were pretty much done by 11:30, which was quite earlier than expected and a bit lame.. Oh, and there was a giant eyeball prop on the stage.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be the best show of 2009

    by Steve2050 on 7/13/09Riviera Theatre - Chicago

Not only did the YYY's release of It's Blitz! be the best album we hear in 2009 they produce quite a show. I personally go to 15-20 shows a year and the YYY's are hands down the best show I have ever been to. Stage set up was fantastic. Good crowd.

the yeah, yeah, yeahs put on an amazing show

by finnagin on 7/13/09Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I loved every minute of it. I have been waiting to see this band for the past 5 years and it was definitely worth the wait. They played songs from their newest album and even sang ones from their first. I couldn't believe this was the first time in Columbus. The only issue that seemed to happen during the show was that their monitor system might of not worked for a little while. The lead singer had to stop the song a couple of times because she couldn't hear the guitar beat. All in all they looked good, they sounded great.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs.. 3 thumbs up

by ChipC on 7/13/09Riviera Theatre - Chicago

great to see Karen O leading beefed up band at the Aragon Ballroom. Karen is a charismatic leader whose dares you to take your eyes off her. Guitarist Nick Zinner continues to explore sonic landscape while drummer Brian Chase keeps the time effortlessly additional guitar work from David Pajo only adds to the excitement. The highlight of the show was their cover of the Cramps "Human Fly"
