About

There is a reason audiences fell in love with Yann Tiersen’s film soundtracks - his lush melodies sparking nostalgia and longing in a handful of lilting notes. With stripped-back versions of his moody, swooning piano pieces, field recordings, delirious violin and toy-piano whimsy, the multi-instrumentalist’s solo show will make the grand Concert Hall feel intimate and magical – like a show inside a vintage music box.

There’s more to Tiersen than the much-adored scores to Amélie (which was largely taken from his existing studio albums) and Good Bye, Lenin! Inspired by post-punk as well as French folk music and chamber pop, his distinctive style is realised through his genreless approach to composition and mastery of literally dozens of instruments. His new project, EUSA, lays field recordings from his native Breton coast over the twinkling, eloquent piano for which he’s most famous. It is all here in this dazzling live show, where his most beloved pieces will nestle up against some of his most personal work in years.

    Did not enjoy it

by Julie on 6/21/22MTELUS - Montreal

Band started one hour late, and when they got onstage they still had to tune their instruments. I think this is disrespectful of audience. No seats, we were standing for two full hours. Sound way too loud, had to cover my ears several times. Very disappointed, paid quite a bit of money for this show. Left after 30mins. Will not be attending anymore Y.Tiersen shows.

    What a deception!

by Michele on 6/21/22MTELUS - Montreal

The concert started an hour late - well, maybe we can expect that from every concert, but NOT that it lasted for just 80 minutes!! Seriously?!!! He played for a little more than an hour and 15 minutes, said goodbye and never came back on stage. Never saw anything like this in my life before (I'm 42 and I saw a few concerts). Personally, I didn't liked the music either, as I think that Yann didn't add nothing new to EDM panorama, but this is more a personal comment. Also, instead of playing a unique show from start to the end, he played each song individually, with a pause each time that really destroyed the wibe and the "crescendo" of every song.

    Worst concert in my life

by Eva on 6/21/22MTELUS - Montreal

Worst concert ever. Yann tiersen was one hour late. Everybody was expecting him to play piano and he was doing electro? Music electro was so loud and bad that I had earache for two days. No ambiance in the room, half of the people left after 30 min of the show. Very disappointing. It’s a shame to pay 80$ for this show. He was my favorite artist since 15 years. I won’t go see him again in a show for sure. If we could ask for a refund, that’s clearly what my friends and me would do.

    Kerber Kool

by MDG on 6/20/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

The good: Yann Tiersen is such a talented artist and the high quality sound at the venue let his music shine. The light show added to the atmosphere and enhanced the experience. The attendant at the merch. shop was really nice and the tour merch. had fitted styles and quality fabrics. The bad: the venue should introduce the artists and let people know when the show is over. Also, seating should have had more lighting for safety's sake.

    Not what I anticipated

by Sam on 6/15/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Performer seemed on a different headspace in their career than I anticipated based on their catalog. Venue was a bit loud due to their being an open bar in the back that made little effort at muffling itself. Music was altogether well done, just not something I would pay money for knowing what I now know the experience to be

Worst concert of all the time

by A Previous Fan on 6/14/22

It was a terrible show. The artist in the opening act was just playing noise for about an hour. Yann Tiersen showed up at 9:20 PM (ticket was for 7pm!) and he didn't play any song from Amélie, Good Bye Lenin, or EUSA or even any piano song. He played just trash electronic music.

    Not what I expected

by Manolo on 6/10/22The Wiltern - Los Angeles

If you are a fan of Yann Tiersen for his awesome work on soundtracks like Amelie or Goodbye Lenin!, but you don't really care for his new electronic music, you will not enjoy this show at all. It was not clear to me it was going to be like that, thus the 1 star.

    Immersive show!

by Megan on 6/10/22The Wiltern - Los Angeles

This show was an amazing audio & visual experience. The music was mesmerizing and matched the visuals perfectly. Yann Tiersen is a master of music and it’s always an opportunity to see him perform.

Was promised piano, was given experimental electronic

by Disappointed on 6/10/22The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The blurb for this concert highlighted his beautiful piano compositions. Not a single second of the concert was spent with piano music. It was entirely comprised of Yann’s recent foray into experimental electronic music. I was extremely disappointed - as were the numerous people who left 30 minutes into his show when they realized it was not what they had been promised/expecting.

Yann Tiersen, not just movie music

    by kingcorndog1 on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I loved the sound from the beginning and was surprised how rockin' it was, and pleased with the energy of the band, very dynamic!. Would've loved more accordian, though!

Amazing concert! They are a great group, and their lives are really worth it. The sound was also amazing, and the theater was a very interesting place. I only wished there were more people attending.

    Yann Tiersen disappointed me

by Clarzies on 6/11/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

He didn't play anything from his Amelie soundtrack, and his opening performers werent very talented. I was very disappointed and wouldn't have gone if I had known that it was a rock concert.

I know Yann Tiersen for his wonderful classical composition, not his self indulging band who were about average. The Venue was empty. One support act was interesting, the other was completely rubbish. Obviously not extending many funds to the support acts on this tour. Yann, Please play some piano at your gigs!!!

Not the "Amelie" type of music

by Arashou on 6/11/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Don't think you'll hear music even similar to Amelie's soundtrack. It's a totally different type of music which I don't even want to know what it's called.

Yann is awesome but the place isn't the best

    by cake1234 on 5/4/12Royale Boston - Boston

Yann Tiersen and his band did awesome! The warm up band "Felix the band" was also amazing! The people who work at the place however weren't the friendliest... When we were in line waiting to enter, security yelled at us to move around while they could simply ask. This is where I felt a bit unsafe and this feeling remained through the night as security was staring at me every time I walked by them. And I am just a normal guy btw :) and was there with my girlfriend. Rather than that, it was a really good time!

    lousy noisy

by Anonymous on 5/3/12Royale Boston - Boston

I used to like Yann's music, that why I went to two of his show including the recently one in Boston. However, I got disppointed in both time. I really can't understand why he started to adopt this heavy- metal like noisy style, in which he sucked. Won't go again.

Yann joked he was hungover, but the guys seemed they actually were. performance was subpar and mixing was horrible. Royale is a great venue and I have been to amazing concerts there. I was expecting some of his older stuff but didn't mind the full electronic set-up. But something was wrong.

Way too loud. Also, there were no seats on the venue, even when in the ticket there was specified a row and seat... that did not exist!

This concert was amazing. From the venue to the crowd to the musicians, it was a magical experience.
