About

There is a reason audiences fell in love with Yann Tiersen’s film soundtracks - his lush melodies sparking nostalgia and longing in a handful of lilting notes. With stripped-back versions of his moody, swooning piano pieces, field recordings, delirious violin and toy-piano whimsy, the multi-instrumentalist’s solo show will make the grand Concert Hall feel intimate and magical – like a show inside a vintage music box.

There’s more to Tiersen than the much-adored scores to Amélie (which was largely taken from his existing studio albums) and Good Bye, Lenin! Inspired by post-punk as well as French folk music and chamber pop, his distinctive style is realised through his genreless approach to composition and mastery of literally dozens of instruments. His new project, EUSA, lays field recordings from his native Breton coast over the twinkling, eloquent piano for which he’s most famous. It is all here in this dazzling live show, where his most beloved pieces will nestle up against some of his most personal work in years.

    Amazing Performance but Too Short!!

by CrazyAlex on 10/10/10The Concert Hall - New York

I love Yann Tiersen so much. In my mind he is the greatest composer of his generation. He almost never comes to the U.S., and so I was thrilled to see him on his quick stop in NYC kicking off his 'Dust Lane' tour. As I expected, I got Yann Tiersen and an orchestra of very talented individuals playing incredible music. What I wasn't expecting: --No accordion/toy piano from Yann at all --None of his earlier work --Almost no engagement with the audience (Yann or others), despite a resounding excitement from us all. --The whole performance was barely over an hour, and the encore was under a minute.

Splendidly great! Yann was at his best. But the event started 40 min late; not fun!

hi, Yann Tiersen is one of the most talented person in the whole world. His music is magical but he was 40 minutes late for the concert and the whole concert took only 50 minutes which dissapointed everyone in the hall I think. I really do appreciate his work since I am a pianist, but please do respect the audience too 50 minutes concert??

My boyfriend and I went to the concert and it was definately below expectations. The sound levels were way off and it was difficult to hear certain instruments. Vocals were practically indistinguishable. None of the musicians had any sort of stage presence. They played overall, two or three good songs.

Yann is the most talented musician and composer of our time. His music moves you and you feel like you're listening to a full symphony but modern-day inspired. It truely gives you goosebumps when listening.
