Quality music with a humble band leader

by Heather on 2/13/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

A high quality concert by Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Beautiful music that makes you move to the beats. Inspiring individual solo performances within numbers with rhythms and transitions so smooth. Wynton himself is a humble man- for all his accomplishments he never talked himself up and kept focus on the band’s performers and the music. Perfect concert length of 90 minutes.

    Angel Jazz

by WAheart on 2/13/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Wynton Marsalis and the beautiful orchestra brought musicianship seldom seen. Like his wonderful father, Wynton lead the group with southern friendliness, charm and a serious commitment to “your instrument” (I believe “the 3 cats” in the front had 12 or so instruments between them!) . The music hovered just above, tinkling and smoothing and blending perfectly. Playing everything from Thelonious Monk to Duke Ellington to a little soft New Orleans during the encore. I have never heard music sooo special and good. Played from the heart. Go see them! ♥️

    Outstanding Performance

by Mike on 2/8/22The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

I am a big fan of Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Orchestra. I have seen the Orchestra perform a few times virtually, but this was my first time seeing the group live and in person. The quality of the music was simply outstanding. The variety of arrangement satisfied every musical taste possible. The group was highly entertaining, and genuinely looked like they were having fun. I felt that they were enjoying the performance as much as the audience was.

    Loved it!

by Adrianne on 2/8/22The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

Soraya theater very well organized and expedious with check in. ful theatee. Wynton Marsalis meet all expectations. I loved how he gave a narrative about each piece of music they played. Liked Carlos Enriguez latin jazz piece. Thought allowing each band member to show their skills individually and collective was awesome. I took my dad and husband and we all thought jt was worth every penny.

Live Music is Back at the Soraya

by Mark W on 2/8/22The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra were incredible. They sounded great, played incredible, and had wonderful interaction with the audience. The Soraya is an amazing venue to see live performance - and safe - and if you couldn't make it, or felt unsafe, they provided a live stream of the show for those at home. All around, an incredible night.

    Stunning Performances

by Carless in LA on 2/8/22The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

We should be used to hearing amazing “first call” studio musicians in LA, but this band’s musicianship is still jaw dropping. The contrast between Winton Marsalis’s low key introductions and the brilliant sounds that followed kept us continuously amazed, enraptured, entertained, excited. Words do not due justice to the warm feelings I’m left with many days after the show.

    Wynton was not Squintin!

by R. H. on 5/31/21Concerts on the Green at Suneagles Golf Club - Eatontown

The consumite professional always. I've come to accept Wynton as the greatest trumpet player alive. This was my first live show in a year and 3 months and I couldn't think of a better gig to be part of. All great original tunes were a bit of a surprise. I had expected a standard or 2, maybe a Harold Arlen or Johnny Mercer tune. The venue was unique @ Suneagles Golf Club in Eatontown NJ, a tent, a stage and several tables. I loved it, very intimate. I plan on at least 2 more shows here. Ticket prices are exceptionally fair

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orch does not disappoint

by TrumpetHack on 10/10/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

The musicianship of JCLO does not disappoint. The intonation and dynamics of each section, and in turn, the blending of the sections as a band is incredible. So many groups have a player that just sticks out even while trying to blend. The sound of JLCO is smooth as velvet. And catching up with Denver trumpeter Greg Gisbert for a few minutes after the show was an added bonus.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Comes To Akron OH

by TooncesTheKat on 10/2/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

The performance was great. They played for 60 minutes, took at 15 minute intermission , and played for another 60 minutes. If you like classic jazz, ( Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, etc.) you'll want to catch this class act.

by singinmama on 10/2/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

I am so grateful Winton and his colleagues continue to educate the public about the history of Jazz in such an entertaining and enthralling way. Everyone in that orchestra is so accomplished both as player and arranger. The evening was utterly amazing! IF you have a chance to see them- GO!

    In a word... magnificent!

by Momof3and2 on 10/1/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis was incredible. The talent of those individuals hits you from the first note. Although the JLCO may not play some of the more commonly heard standards, I was amazed by works that were original and the lesser known (to a casual jazz fan) tunes from the swing era. They played Jelly Roll and Ellington, so don't get me wrong, you'll recognize those works, but, they weren't what I was expecting. In many way, that made it great. We missed him and the JLCO 10 years ago while in NYC. If I ever get back and have the chance, we won't make that mistake again!

by pianodance on 10/1/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

I bought tickets to this event months ahead of time as a bday gift for my husband. We loved every minute of this concert. Marsalis and all the musicians in this concert were beyond amazing. This was jazz at its finest. Marsalis was humble and informative as he talked to the audience. These musicians love what they do, and it shows. Thanks for a fabulous evening!

by Mommahello on 10/1/17E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Magical evening. Beyond all expectations‼️ Every musician that did a solo was superb. What I DONT approve of is Wynston interjecting politics. Stick to what was planned-a night of professionals doing what they do best!

    Excellent Holiday Show

by ChristmasCouple on 12/12/16Keith Albee Theater - Huntington

One of the BEST Holiday concerts we have ever seen! Excellent arrangements of Holiday and Christmas Classics and some songs we had never heard before. Catherine Russell as vocalist was phenomenal with great enthusiasm ,spirit ,and range. Loved the fact that Mr. Marsalis took time to explain the history of each song, and give great credit to the arranger and the soloists.
